Cambodia isn't just good for investment, it's also a great place to start out as a nomad and open a business, work remotely, or even find a teaching job, for example. Even many low level entrepreneurs have found success there with their easy-to-attain business visas.

    • @nomadcapitalist

Thanks for the video Andrew. Cambodia is indeed one of Asia's best places to invest with an uncorrelated economy that depends on internal growth factors like rapid urbanization rate, young average age, etc.
It is, however, not a good place to get a second passport.

@spinning nonsense What happened in Russia and Canada during the past 4 recessions? Cambodia hasn't had one in 25+ years.
I won't get into geopolitics too much, but manufacturing is moving en masse from China (both foreign and Chinese companies) to Vietnam and Cambodia. Only about 7% of Cambodian exports go to China.
Not sure why you think export routes would close. But if "self-sustainment" ever became a factor, us humans would have more important things to worry about than our investments.

    • @EzraMerr

It is if you want to focus on long term results and the ASEAN organisation freedoms. You can own freehold of land in Cambodia, and you can get around other nation restrictions with a new clean background

Well, I can tell you one advantage is if you want to buy and run a hotel for instance, otherwise it's a lease, 10 years if I recall properly and if you made a lot of refurbishing, the Cambodian owner won't renew the lease for sure and either run it himself or find somebody else and lease it with a higher price tag. I've seen a documentary about a French guy who was in this business and every 7 years or so, he was looking for a new gem to refurbish and run as hotel, I bet he would buy the passport without second thought.

사이 I’m not the biggest fan of The CPP, and to see nations like Cambodia who had struggled over recent history, now influenced politically with money and investments thereby can create economic dependence which gains power and traction on the world stage. To put it simply I don’t like China plays chess or should I say monopoly, with the world

The high price is probably a mechanism used as an entry barrier. Helps the government screen applicants more efficiently and ask questions like "how do you have so much money? What do you do in China? What are you doing in Cambodia? You must be pretty serious if you're about to drop a quarter million dollars huh?"
    Just a thought.

Also they have a lot of private people around them buying up thing for them. The usual farmer there never ever got 1$ from all that aid! They store their wealth in foreign banks far away also!
