  • The award-winning, now long gone, Weymouth Timewalk. 15 mins. One of Dorset's biggest attractions. A fantastic journey through Weymouth's history, created in the huge old Devenish Brewery complex, Hope Square. Footage around the entrance taken on its closure in 2010, and a tour inside in 1993. Sorry for the poor quality of the interior scenes, my camera then could not handle low-light. "Prepare to be taken aback".

Thank you for uploading this - I adored the Timewalk as a child! I wish it was still there! Used to visit Weymouth regularly for holidays and I’d always be begging the parents to go to the Timewalk ☺️

Wow that was a trip down memory lane.
My parents used to take me and my brother there everytime we went to Weymouth on holiday back in the 90’s.
Shame it’s closed as my kids would have absolutely loved that

Thanks so much for uploading this. My family and I holidayed in Weymouth many times when I was younger and I adored the Brewers Quay and the Timewalk. I’ve just got back from a visit to the town today and it was sad seeing the old building all closed up - thankfully I had this video to help rekindle the memories!

I was just wondering today if it still existed, i visited on 1992, so sad to learn it has closed, it was a great "trip" to Weymouth's history

It certainly is sorely missed. Such a pity that successive owners of the building failed to maintain it all.

@@StuartMorris7 Yea, same happened with: The Oxford Story Dark Ride/Museum!
As you prob know: Managers said it would have taken about £4m to renovate The Oxford Story and instead decided to plough that money into the castle attraction which had opened 18 months before.

I remember the Timewalk attraction being built. Visited it numerous times when on holiday and day trips. It's a huge loss for this seaside town and seeing the Brewers Quay building laying forlorn and derelict for years has both depressed and angered me. I think whoever owns this building should be forced to maintain it, or the whole complex be sold and NOT for a hotel to be put there. The only souvenir from my trips to the Timewalk is one of the glossy guide books. Still enjoy looking at that occasionally.

I remember visiting here as a child of about 10 or 11. The smell of the black plague room is probably the memory that has stuck with me most of all.
I would have loved to have taken my children here one day :(

When was this filmed? Used to go to Brewers Quay regularly when I was a child. This has brought back so many memories. Thank you for sharing this. I still can't believe they closed. It annoys me that similar locations around the world still exist and are still tourist attractions and yet everything good in the UK closes :-( Visited Tin City in Naples Florida a few years ago and it was so similar to Brewers Quay.

I filmed the cat and the tour inside in 1993. The entrance and shops were in 2010, just after the actual Timewalk had closed

@@StuartMorris7 You must of filmed the timewalk later then 1993, you are showing the revamped version of the show which was done in the later 90's

    • @StuartMorris7

@@davidallen3659 The first part showing the outside, entrance and shops was in 2010. The main part, up the stairs, cat, clock and walking through, was in December 1993. Sorry for the confusion. I didn't realise it had been changed. It was lucky that Ihad filmed it, I'm surprised nobody else seems to have done, unless you know.

I never managed to see it, shame. A lot of these type of attraction have come and gone:- The Oxford story, Dickens World in Chatham, Windsor Station with waxworks of Queen Victoria and a train (can't remember the name)
But Canterbury Tales is still going.

I just don’t get why they don’t redevelop it properly, Weymouth town centre really needs some serious money spent to rejuvenate it.
