Loved Harry and Basil separately in their individual shows but love them together. Can’t remember seeing this episode as a kid but then we are talking over thirty years ago… I’m 49 this year ☺️😊
We loved Basil Brush as kids. We called CocaCola PokeyPola, even as adults that was our joke word for going to the pub for a pint. Harry H Corbett was a great entertainer.
Who wrote the Basil Brush show? Looking it up on IMDB, I see that it was principally a man called George Martin (if IMDB is to be believed on something as old and out of the way as this, of course). Watching these Basil clips on TH-cam, particularly the songs, I see how much he picked up and refreshed from the music hall to give Basil material. In a strange way, this old-fashioned fox reached back to a much older time still. Anyway, I loved it then and I love it now. I'm convinced Basil is the reason I speak RP today!
understand this......i am a massive Steptoe fan......AND of Harry H. Corbett.....and Wilfred Bramble...... But corbett, Although , a massively Respected actor....... Had sometimes a limited vocal delivery......AS I roles Pre Steptoe.......the almost cockney accent WAS PRESENT in earlier Film and Tv Roles..before Septoes debut in 1962....... The "OH GAWD"... the Harryisims......were there in the voice anyway.......And we are constantly being told...Harrys career POST Steptoe was to Blame....as he was ALWAYS offered Steptoeish...kinds of Parts......Watch him in Silver Dream Racer.... The sitcom Grundy......and as a guest star in POTTER.... but the accent Problem goes back further....Maybe the actors Range was not that great as we have been told.....!!!!!!!! SORRY HARRY............!!!!!!!
Well, at least I now know what the H stands for in Harry H Corbett......HAIR. Harry's barnet seems to have a life of its own. It definitely isn't his own. Very distracting.

It really was the basil brush show he was in charge ! 😂 loved his sarcasm
I grew up in the u.s. but I have watched Steptoe n son on TH-cam and I like Harry corbett... ithought he was great!
When he was younger he was a serious method actor and at one time he was considered the British Marlon Brando,
I think this epsiode is awesome in billions of ways
Love the older Basil Brush shows♥️
Thank you, AA, you've made an 'old boiler' very happy!
Great childhood memories.. Boom, boom ...! R.I.P Ivan Owen
Very good love them both ❤
Loved Harry and Basil individually but love them together… 🥰
Basil looks cool out of his country tweeds. Pearl Kings and Queens remind me of a friend of mine, who has a phobia of buttons. 😱😊
Basil my fav as a kid
Well this a duo combination I would never have imagined I would be seeing lol Harold Steptoe and Basil Brush
Rip Harry h Corbet
In 1979 I was ten and in my final year at primary school
I didn’t know Harry was on basil brush
Basil Brush is just so good. Love to know more on the man behind the voice? Or maybe I shouldn’t as love Basil
He kept his appearance a strict secret...Ivan Owen did the voice until 2000.

Two of the best laughs in the business 🫶❤️
Briillant clip with Basil brush and Steptoe Have you got the full show
That would be great 😊
Harry Corbet was always Steptoe! He couldn't escape from it!
😂 BRILLIANT!
Brilliant stuff😂
To think he'd die 3 years later 😣😣 It's a stern reminder of how life can be taken from you at any time and any place...
I'm beginning to wonder if Basil Brush was inspired by Tony Hancock. :)

Basil Brush’s laugh used to annoy the hell out of me 😊

It stands for Hanything. The H was put in to distinguish him from Harry Corbett , the man behind Sooty!🥰
Corbett wore a wig.
Is that Harry Corbett who created sooty?
Thank you
AND A POCKET FULL OF BREAD PUDDING AND ONIONS..!!!!...IS THAT PUPPET ACTUALLY ALIVE ???
Yara fagundes
Great clip, shame about the awful union jack you have on all you videos. Anyone would think you owned them….
lol. was this what he was reduced to? how sad. how ironic that his delusions of grandeur in the show, and in real life, brought him to this.
Grow up
