    Good video. This looks like a good system. I ended up buying a RCBS .22 bullet feed back a few years ago since Hornaday did not have theirs ready at the time. I have it on my LNL-AP. It works pretty well but I think this new Hornady setup looks better. A case feed and bullet feed is the way to go IMO. I have loaded thousands of 5.56 on mine all the way from 55 grn up to 77 grn. For the most part it is about 98% hassle free once set up.
    I thought I was the only one on earth the uses Varget with a LNL-AP. I have grown tired of people saying it can't be done because of the larger Varget powder size!

    The only thing I'd add is a powder check. Just to make sure. Seen one rifle barrel turn to banana peels from an accidental double load.

    Hello Gavin, is your bullet feeder a newer version? I ask because I've seen other video's that show the bullet feeder with out the "micro" shut off switch.
    By the way Love the video's... Thanks Mike

  • @visionowner
    @visionowner 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love my LNL pistol bullet feeder (and case collator) but am thinking this wouldn't work well with the majority of boat tail bullets; especially small caliber stuff. With enough fine tuning, I'm sure anything is possible. But then again, spending more $ on boat tails and sending them through a progressive maybe somewhat pointless. I dunno but the earlier vids of throwing extruded powder through a volumetric powder measure are what I ran into. Binding of the thrower smashes the case mouths. If I we could get volumetric metering to work well with extruded powders, maybe this would be a more attractive option to persue. I'm considering running some sort of funnel dump in station #2 and then running the Chargemaster but this is going to be almost as time consuming as a single stage.

    Gavin, I searched your channel for the correct video to ask this question on but could not find a recent Dillon XL650 loading 223 video. I am having an issue with powder drops. I have to give a full 3 second count while dropping powder to avoid spilling powder all over my case holder plate. I am using Hodgdon BL-C(2) powder (ball, should drop faster than stick or flake) in the standard dillon XL650 powder measure. I did have an issue where my powder die was set too close and barely compressing the case necks about .001-.002", but I have since adjusted it. Is this issue something you are familiar with? I watched you laod .223 on this LnL press as well as the Lee Loadmaster with barely a pause as the powder dropped. You were even using stick powder on the Lee. Surely something is wrong. I know it doesn't sound like much, but having to wait an extra 2 seconds with every stroke really adds up when you are loading 5000rds. Could you give me some pointers?

    Can the LNL Rifle Bullet Feeder adjustable support bracket be used with the LNL Pistol Bullet Feeder?
    Hornady's FAQ states the rifle bullet feeder requires a taller and adjustable bracket and that the pistol feeder bracket will not work. But they don't say if the rifle feeder bracket will work with the pistol feeder.
    Thank-you!

    Are you decapping and resizing here too? He has the decapping and resizing die in the press but can't tell from the brass.

    I’m looking at getting this press “loaded” as you have here, I load precision 6.5 Grendel and precision 5.56, as well as .45 auto, Is it really precise enough for the 6.5 Grendel and 556, when I’m shooting for under .5 moa? I’ve been loading on a single stage press for a couple years, and a
    Would like to speed up the process and Take an all day event down to a couple hours.

    Gavin do you use an ex pander in the powder measure to expand the part were the bullet will seat.

    • @visionowner
      @visionowner 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Terry LeGrand Flaring doesn't work to well with small caliber rifle case mouths. It causes them to drop into the case and requires another resizing that would cut brass life 1/2.

    Have you heard of & what do you know of "the poor man's L-N-L mechanical 3-d case feeder " . Does it work & where can it be bought or do you have to 3-d print it yourself ? Thanks for your input .

    I'm having trouble deciding which progressive press to purchase it's between Hornady lock N load AP vs. Dillon XL650 I do plan on purchasing a bullet feeder and case feeder eventually.

    • @Ultimatereloader
      @Ultimatereloader  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you going to be doing lots of caliber changeovers? Or sitting cranking out 1000s of rounds at a time?

    • @msbbuilders
      @msbbuilders 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mostly plan on reloading 9 mm with occasional 45 ACP. My main concern is accuracy so I'm looking for a progressive press that is very consistent . I currently reload on a Lee single stage press Averaging 50 rounds an hour.

    • @Ultimatereloader
      @Ultimatereloader  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If accuracy is your concern, then I would steer towards the Lock-N-Load AP because of the float you get (for dies) with the lock-n-load bushing system.

    Are you full length sizing in the process ? or just loading already sized brass?

    • @trpshooter9945
      @trpshooter9945 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've often wondered how many people do that- they just clean rifle brass and disregard the trimming/chamfer/deburring to save time, not realizing the brass has grown beyond max length when resized.

    • @mikebigelow9057
      @mikebigelow9057 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. You can also use something like the RCBS lube die instead of pre-lubing.

  • @efgabc2476
    @efgabc2476 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    can this automatically deprime the brass?

    • @tomanec4488
      @tomanec4488 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +efg abc forgive me if im wrong but i believe you would want to deprime it first, then clean and tumble it, check for shell stretching, etc.

    • @EmoFox9
      @EmoFox9 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      in most cases when you pick up your range brass and its still relatively clean you dont need to tumble it, but if you want to tumble it before hand you can as well, but this will deprime and reshape the brass with the right die

  • @ronaldjohnson1474

    Seems to me this is a tremendous cost to make standard ammo. If one wants precise ammo, one should load each one individually.

    Would like to send thousand rounds of brass to see how it runs. If its stays with in thousand loading
    That many then sure its worth time and money. Dont save on money just shoot more papper.

    Is flat shooting
    500 yards is loading skills to stay the same on papper
