As a patient with ME I hold Professor Hughes in the highest regard. As a professor of psychology he's quite the figure to rebut the old presumptions and im eternally grateful for his commitment to stand up and tell it as it is for us as a patient group in a measured and sensible way. 💙🙏💙

Thank you. I can now refer the NICE guidelines to my primary physician. This is like finding buried treasure to ME/CFS patients.

Maybe it’s the physicians that need treatment with CBT?

BINGO! If only we had a simulator which produced the ME/CFS "experience". Put these ridiculous physicians in there and leave them there for a month.

Holmes 1988 Chronic Fatigue Syndrome specifically lists chronic psychiatric disease as a condition which must be excluded in order to obtain a diagnosis of CFS.
How did any doctor arrogate the privilege to themselves of ignoring this exclusion? Shouldn't they be struck off for incompetence?

ME/CFS isnt about original CFS or ME Erik. They are all con artists.

I'm just an Engineer, but the concept that a person can't have 2 un-correlated conditions at the same time is ludicrous and non-scientific.

@@paulmaurer294 It was to make sure that patients with a real disease don't get tossed into the psychiatric trash bin.
Obviously the effort failed, People fought for the right to be a mental case and won their victory.
      They should be happy.
