    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I need to prove to myself this thing actually works in combat before I would even consider that, and then maybe try scaling to 30lb. The use of a servo for the arm would be hard to scale up, I would need something totally custom at any weight class over 3lb.

    • @fromfin90
      @fromfin90 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustCuzRobotics a 1:5th scale servo? 100 or so kilograms of force

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if that might be strong enough I don't think its output would support the load of a 30lb robot slamming into it. The 3lb bot is using a 35kg rated servo which is plenty of power (chineseium so probably more like 20kg-cm). But I'm using the servo case as the structural element to support the arm. Plus the 1/5 servos seem to cost as much or more than a brushless motor and beefy gearbox together would that would have many times the power.

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว

      My apartment has a fake wood vinyl floor. I tried the spike wheels on it briefly but it was absolutely ruining the floor and peeling up some of the veneer. It should do a lot better on an actual wood floor lol. Even without the spiky cleats I was able to push 19 lb of water-filled plastic jugs across the floor

  • @necromancer0616

    @Seth Hey I was just scoping out you cool bot and was noticing you have a vertical blade. Why didn't you go with a horizontal blade instead to slide underneath the beater-bars? That way you'd never have to go weapon-on-weapon and take all the kenetic damage you could just eath their underside (allot of jokes there)?

  • @JohnATamplin
    @JohnATamplin ปีที่แล้ว

    You can run the servo at 9V and the receiver at 5V - just tie grounds together and be careful with your 3 different B+ lines. My plastic ant uses 2S to power the servo directly, and the receiver is running off 5V from the ESC BEC.

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would require running two different BECs though. I have way too many things inside this bot already lol

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are custom cast tires using Vytaflex Shore 30A urethane over a 3d printed TPU hub. I prototyped this system on SMine last year and it worked really well. Then I adapted it to Division where I was able to upgrade it substantially and prove that it can take hits from the best Bots around. These wheels get an absolutely ridiculous amount of grip. I was able to push around more than 19 lb of water filled jugs no problem with the bot only weighing a little over 2 lb

    I wonder how this design would translate in battlebots

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why does everyone keep asking me to do this LOL. It would be difficult to scale to that level, I may try a featherweight version if this works really well at 3lb. The beater bar meta at the 3lb level is extremely prevalent especially at Norwalk but at Battlebots it seems mostly about long forks and ground game and 4 wheel drive vertical disk spinners which would be a lot harder to counter with this style bot.

  • @BeefIngot
    @BeefIngot ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been proselytizing this a lot, but anytime I see someone using a manual screwdriver for bolts around the sizes used here, I can't help but recommend they get a nice precision electric screwdriver. The amount it saves you on wrist strain is so worth it.
    I recommend the Miniware ES15. Its type c charging, open source (so you can change the firmware as you'd like, if you'd like), has high torque for a precision screwdriver (which makes it good for this type of 3d printing based project), and has many features that help with fast assembly.
    It's not going to drive deck screws into 2 by 4s, but it'll more than suffice for your needs here torque wise.
    Honestly, I know 100 bucks sounds like a lot for a screwdriver, but your wrists will thank you if you pick one up. With this thing, I very rarely use l keys or manual screw drivers anymore (especially since it can also be used as a manual screwdriver anyways).

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I already own an ES15. Awesome for M2 screws. However some of these screws I need to tighten to a specific degree by feel and many of them actually require a lot more torque than the es15 can put out. I use a No Cry cordless driver a lot. Just happened not to use it on camera this time.
