My dad used nail polish for years for stuff! Cool to see here. (N.B.: clear nail polish works great as a "lock tite" for glasses that the screws keep working loose) one question though: does the heat off the engine affect it any, or does it hold up to that pretty well?

Good tip!
As far as the heat, I've never used it near a motorcycle motor, but I have used it in a cars engine bay which I'd assume is quite equivalent and it held up just fine.

Your first cut should have been you last. I’ve found it easier to do all the inside work before releasing the piece from the sheet. My .02 for what it’s worth.

I would have just used an L bracket. Would have been much easier.
