Very nice showing the different options you can use for reenforcement like a paper clip, or even some thin copper wire strands. I know that some people use staples or metal screening/mesh but I didn't even think of these here! 👍👍
@@spectre5982 It might be tough because of the small surface area, the thin round stem, and the amount of force that high winds can place on an umbrella. You can try it but it just might be better to scrap it and buy a new umbrella.
Wow this is great. I'm a retired dentist and we would use paper clips for repairs in acrylic dentures/partials. I've been throwing away old kitchen plastics but need to try to fix, as many are made in USA.
I know some people are making smart ass comments but i just ruined a $200 dollar crossbow magazine, it still functions but there’s a hole in it. This was a great way to fix it.
It's a cheap and good repair. Parts and pieces for goods are expensive. My Samsung refrigerator has plastic containers on the doors they are cheaply made and you have to be careful with the amount of stuff you put in because the plastic hooks break easily. They are $100 each to buy There are 6 small containers. That's nothing to laugh about $600!
Certainly. That's what makes me upset about tenants complaining when rent goes up. Then you read they have been renting for decades and didn't have the wherewithal to save and buy their own home but are angry at the landlord who worked hard and accumulated some assets. So throw everything out and buy new.
In order for this to work you must use the same type of plastic for it to bond correctly the zip tie used in the demonstration is made of nylon like they all are the paint tray was more than likely HDPE or PP poly propylene.
Those nylon zip ties will flake right off when melting like that. Easier to use plumbers abs cement and shavings from a pvc pipe to create stronger sealing/filling material like with saw dust and wood glue.
Danke!
yes my bikes chain guard, which is similar like a mud guard, has also cracked apart. which way did u use to fix it? just zip ties and a lighter or did u use some metals?
Awesome and innovative ways to repair plastic, and glad you showed how to do it if one doesn't have a soldering iron or spare pieces of metal or plastic to work with (paperclips are easy to find)! Still, this video's a great incentive to invest in some tools.
Great fix-it video for plastic repair. I had one thought on the section using the "spring rings / plastic topping. Same procedure on the "inside" of the cover would leave the outside of the cover possibly "smoother" finish for later paint, etc - use plastic filler only on outside, then sand / paint. Again, great ideas on your end. Thanks!!
£1.50 buys a new tray or £3 to repair it😂. I've used melted zip ties, plastic coffee spoons and straws for repairing automotive plastics since the late 80's, cheap and ingenious repairs👍🏻
My cars side footrest got broken ... it was all alumnium with end plastic Head.. This plastic so hard but crack easily.. Could ya can say either to glue it or welding?? Thanks. From Bangladesh
Very good ideas. BUT copper wires will cost more a new plastic tray. The broken rings from a spring, yes that makes sense. Also beware poison fumes. No point DIY fixing only to get lung cancer.
Thanks!
Admirably diligent workers. Respect for you!!!

Wow, this is truly a genius method for repairing broken plastic! Your creativity and problem-solving skills are remarkable
use stainless mesh , it will never corrode or break
Brilliant! I make it a point to learn something new everyday. Thank you for the useful tips and educational demonstration.
So you learned you could save a boat load of time and just purchase a new pan for like $1.99...

Yet? It's never broken if it's fixed before it's realized
Don't forget to wear proper protection, especially mask to protect yourself from the toxic fumes coming from the plastic

@madmax82988 Old comic books are better though.
In other words, use small bits of metal as the thatching/heat conductor and use zip ties as the solder/tar to finish the seal.
You can also use metal mesh used to repair fiberglass for cracks at any autozone
