Well, DE did say on their last steam they were planning to rework a few Frames, and Wukong was one on the list. I really hope they do. In the Journey To The West, Sun could summon monkey/avatar/clones. Mirage can summon copies that mimic her, Ash now as ashen clones, and if there's another Frame that clones, I can't think of it. The staff could use a touch up. (Exalted weapon changes are welcome.) The first ability could do more than just a simple poke of his stick. The cloud walk and Defy are fine, I think. If I were to suggest a reworked kit, I'd say: 1; Call Of The Sun----Summon a clone of Wukong to fight with you. Max rank ability allows summoning of three clones. Clones gain power boost when Fourth ability is active. 2; Pole-vault----Same as cloud walk, but ending the ability causes Wukong to slam into the ground, scaling knockdown on how far he traveled. Energy drain increases the more time spent using the ability. Clones also vault, but do not knockdown enemies. 3; Death Defiant----Defy can be granted to allies for a time. Larger energy drain when cast on ally. If clone dies while Wukong has Defy active, clone is revived at the cost of energy. If Wukong dies, the clone dies and must be summoned again. 4; Ruyi Jingu Bang----Exalted staff, enemies are guaranteed to be knocked down or stunned on hit, damage scales for every consecutive hit, regenerates energy for Wukong and allies on kills, finishers also grant slight health boost. I've been mulling around with a wukong rework idea in my head that I think could breathe some new life (pun totally intended) to wukong: Passive: When wukong dies, he turns into stone. After 5 seconds he comes back to life with 30% health, resetting defy stacks in the process. This ability has a 120 second cooldown that cannot be reduced. 1st Ability: 72 (-69) transformations. Wukong can switch to 4 different forms (similar to how you cycle venari's modes or ivara's arrows), giving buffs and debuffs in the process. 1st form: aspect of the tiger, wukong would gain increased melee attack speed and crit chance in exchange for a higher cost in hp from defy stacks (since tigers have a very energy consuming metabolism). 2st form: aspect of the bull, wukong would gain extra armor and knockdown immunity and in exchange have reduced movement speed and useof his 3rd ability restricted( more on that later). 3rd form: aspect of the Enemy, turn into a copy of the targeted enemy for a set duration, dropping enemy aggro (replaces cloud walker as the oh shit button), however you move slowly, can't use your 3rd ability and attacking breaks the illusion. 4th form: aspect of the something, not sure what could be done to make this 4th form fun but balanced, honestly I'm out of ideas. Maybe make it 3 transformations only, maybe make the rework all about those transformations, implement defy into the aspect of the bull and replace the aspect of the enemy with the nimbus, dunno. The aspect of the enemy could also be replaced by a wukong copy similar to Loki's decoy, but able to attack and move around (maybe dealing 50% of wukong's damage or something), however this ability is not part of the 72 transformations so it doesn't really fit thematically. 2nd Ability: Defy. best thing about wukong, wouldn't change it. 3rd ability: Nimbus. call up the nimbus to give wukong a lift, increasing wukong's movement speed and allowing him to avoid ground based traps (arc traps, osprey mines, rollers, etc). Cancelling the nimbus early with launch wukong into the air (sommersault), similar to the primal fury augment. 4th ability: Heavenly Fury. Activate the Ruyi Jingu Bang staff, which replaces Wukong's melee weapon. Rework the primal fury stance so that it can change the size and multiply the staff through combos. Charge attacks release eye blasts with guranteed blast procs for cc/ send out a wave of energy that reveals enemies through solid objects, increasing with power range (eyes of fiery truth). Increase the power of the staff as well.
I'm a very big fan of this. I especially like the idea of making it so that you can control his staff length better. I always thought it should work like this: A combo that turns the staff into a thick pillar should keep the staff in that state; vastly increasing the damage output and radius of slams attacks from the staff for all normal attacks afterwards. A combo that extends the staff should keep the staff extended, vastly increasing the range of the staff for all normal attacks afterwards. I also like the idea of being able to see enemies through walls, though I'd also add the ability to make it so that his staff can hit any enemy that is hit by the Eyes of Truth, through a wall. Given that Excalibur's Exalted Blade waves can go through walls, I think it's only fair.
For the 4th variation of his 1, maybe turn him into a prop which makes him immovable, can only use secondary/melee, and let it be a energy drain ability?

I hope DE sees this and they do something about the poor monkey,I really like his concept but I think it's poorly represented in game.I mean not being able to die is nice and all but that does not mean that his other 3 abilities should be as bad as they are.Anyway great video.
It's especially disappointing when you consider that we have other frames who are effectively immortal with better abilities. Hell, he was basically designed as a discount Valkyr, though I do prefer Wukongs immortality. But also on that list are Inaros, Rhino, Chroma, and Oberon. FUCKING OBERON! He use to be a bad joke! Then DE gave him some attention and now he's one of the best paladins I've seen in a video game! And that's just counting frames who achieve immortality through face tanking it. If we add in any frame who does it by avoiding damage this gets even sadder, especially considering that dumb cloud.
Thing is, wukong is still a useful frame, just for his 2 alone. He's a terribly designed one, with 3 drains, and a useless generic first ability, but he has his niche, and he fills it pretty well
I agree there, though frames like Inaros have more over-all use. He actually has to work to stay alive, but in return he has access to some great CC abilities, so he's more competent in something like say... Interception, where Inaros can just toss some locust on anyone near a capture point and keep it from being captured. Wukong however, has no such versatility outside of being basically a god
Triburos I think another reason why wukong isnt really used is his overlap with valkyr. They both are melee frames with invincibility, but valkyr just does it a little better? Also valkyr doesn't look like crap
I mean to be fair, Wukong in the myth is stated to have 1 weakness. Namely, his jerkass, trickster personality and talking outta his ass. That usually gets him in trouble with the gods that actually CAN face him and win. Luckily, Warframe's Wukong doesn't have that glaring weakness, and unfortunately they took away half of the legend's cool shit with it. (He's still a surprisingly fun frame tho, give him a Venka Prime stat stick and go to town. Good Times)
I always loved wukong, for the fact he cannot die, I solo sorties with him and a god Tonbo Riven (this is why you don't see wukongs in public matches, we do shit solo, we don't need help). He is great with good weapons, if you only invest in efficiency and health. I literally never use his abilities, only his 2 and a really good weapon.
One thing you missed about Journey to the West is that the author's ACTUAL self-insert character is just some monk who is chosen for a holy task and basically gifted Sun Wukong as a slave.
i absolutely love everything about wukong, and his character. Ive read alot of the short stories and, he's just my favorite character to exist in those old type of stories.
Garuda and Wukong are both based off characters from hindu/buddhist mythology. Garuda is a sort of hype man of Vishnu, a legit badass mofo in the lore and has an entire saga of his own. Wukong, is obviously based on Sun Wukong, who himself is based off on Hanuman - is the living embodiment of badassery and i love how Warframe carried the predominant factor of both versions that is - "I am a bloody well Impossible to Kill so just don't bother." I'm a new player and I'm enjoying the everliving hell outta the game, mostly because all of you tenno are amazing and super helpful and I love y'all.

Yes; I can remember the last time I saw a Wukong in a public setting: It was a few days ago on Ophelia and there were two Wukongs that seemed to have joined entirely independently of one another (plus I sometimes use him so I don't have to do anything to keep my health up when levelling new non-melee weapons).
I main wukong because I love his story from journey to the West that much, it's just so cool reading a book about a monkey who just wanted immortality so he could party with his friends forever. so throughout the entire video I was basically shouting preach, really hope DE does something
He's not just a character in a book lol. He's also a deity in in many Asian cultures. For a dumbed down version of the "Journey to the West" stories, I recommend watching The Monkey King one and two. Very good.
on the bright side, bringing Wukong into a capture when your trying to film a misty scene is pretty helpful... Starring X as X, X as X, and Wukong!, as that fog in the background.
I love coming back to this video after his rework. Ive played plenty of wukong before and after the rework, yet the rework was so amazing that it just makes me feel so happy inside knowing that one of my favorite characters got some of the best treatment this game has to offer. Its so relieving seeing all the bad wukong shit knowing that his fate turned out fortunate, thank you pablo, you are a saint.

Well, he cant die to nullifiers or ancient disruptors and can be effectively immortal with a pet with hunter recovery and some arcanes. Not to mention he is the go to frame when It comes to having your mods not rely on his abilities, *AT ALL* .
-Hopefully this comment doesn't get whisked away somehow- While I likely haven't gotten a fraction of total experience as others here, as someone who likes Wukong's look and kit enough to "main" him I would like to toss out my two cents (even if they more or less were spoken months ago by hundreds of others) For a passive, the Nimbus works well. Make an Aerial slide summon it so he could do infinite Aerial slides by bullet jumping off one onto the other. Gives room for other moves to be updated while keeping the general focus. (looking back at JTTW, he does get cloud walker boots) 1: Either give the Jab more (infinite) reach to match the staffs real size and make the knockdown work consistently... Or turn it into a 180 degree sweep that can CC and leave opponents ready for heavy 4 punishes. 2: From what I've read about JTTW, Whenever Wukong finds another form of immortality, he manages to piss many people off. Defy can stay the same but everyone would want to stop that damned monkey instead of dealing with the OBJ/Other frames. 3: While it needs many additions to the point of not being recognizable, Cloudwalker is a start. While as a cloud enemies go from hostile to alert, and cannot see anyone outside the cloud (vice versa for those outside looking in). Lasers and the such aren't a problem. You can cancel the ability with 1 to go straight into that ability, or if you leave normally with your 2/4 active you get special abilities 4: Either give a massive Impact buff, or rework Impact to be a middle ground between Slash and Puncture. Little more And now the special abilities of 3: Transform + Defy = Defensive clones with Wukongs guns. 3/4 health and 1/3 gun damage and tend to remain near spawn location Transform + Primal Fury = Offensive melee clones using the staff doing 2/3 staff damage and 1/3 health hunting down enemies around Wukong Transform + Defy + Primal Fury = Offensive melee clones that do 3/4 staff damage and has 3/4 health. They can also use Wukongs 1 ability to give team CC and setup massive punishes with Wukongs real staff. Energy costs will need to be tweeked. And Wukong will likely need someone who is good at supplying energy (*cough* Nezha *cough*) since this puts a big focus on him using his abilities constantly
I think his 3 would be better as a Disguise ability. He targets an enemy, presses 3, then transforms into a copy of that enemy for some duration. When he dies as that enemy, or the duration of his time runs out, he transforms back. In addition, enemies will not attack him in that form, treating him as simply one of their allies.

The clone aspect is doable now that umbra is out and he operates like a specter when you are in Operator mode. Wukong's clone could work on duration and be autonomous like a specter. Would be a great 1, keep defy, and his 4 would need a serious buff. For his cloud walker they could add elemental Damage to it as he moves around it would add AOE ability to his kit.
I legit cannot remember seeing a wukong more than once in a public match, since the day he got released. I am not surprised if people actually didn't know he existed within the game lol.
in the original version, Wukong ate all the thousand years peaches in the heaven garden (he took a bite of each one then toss it away) and he gained power/partial immortality from it then he went onto a drunken rampage on heaven for a while and no one could stop him then he decided to find Buddha and mess with said godly being, he unknowingly stood in the palm of Buddha and thought to himself that he was too powerful that even the almighty of all does not dare to show up THEN he proceeded to piss on Buddha's palm there's more to the story but yeah, the monkey's pretty fucking nuts

I think it would've been cool to have some kind of exalted bear transformation. His rework was really nice, but they still decided to stick with a fucking cloud for a near-invincible monkeman.

It's especially disappointing when you consider that we have other frames who are effectively immortal with better abilities. Hell, he was basically designed as a discount Valkyr, though I do prefer Wukongs immortality. But also on that list are Inaros, Rhino, Chroma, and Oberon. FUCKING OBERON! He use to be a bad joke! Then DE gave him some attention and now he's one of the best paladins I've seen in a video game! And that's just counting frames who achieve immortality through face tanking it. If we add in any frame who does it by avoiding damage this gets even sadder, especially considering that dumb cloud.
I just hope they add the wukong nuke glitch into his base kit. shit is fun

Thing is, wukong is still a useful frame, just for his 2 alone. He's a terribly designed one, with 3 drains, and a useless generic first ability, but he has his niche, and he fills it pretty well
I agree there, though frames like Inaros have more over-all use. He actually has to work to stay alive, but in return he has access to some great CC abilities, so he's more competent in something like say... Interception, where Inaros can just toss some locust on anyone near a capture point and keep it from being captured.
Wukong however, has no such versatility outside of being basically a god
Triburos Yeah, in my opinion if DE wants to rework Wukong, they need to keep defy unchanged. Rest of his kit needs a huge upgrade.
Triburos I think another reason why wukong isnt really used is his overlap with valkyr. They both are melee frames with invincibility, but valkyr just does it a little better? Also valkyr doesn't look like crap
I mean to be fair, Wukong in the myth is stated to have 1 weakness. Namely, his jerkass, trickster personality and talking outta his ass. That usually gets him in trouble with the gods that actually CAN face him and win. Luckily, Warframe's Wukong doesn't have that glaring weakness, and unfortunately they took away half of the legend's cool shit with it.
(He's still a surprisingly fun frame tho, give him a Venka Prime stat stick and go to town. Good Times)

I always loved wukong, for the fact he cannot die, I solo sorties with him and a god Tonbo Riven (this is why you don't see wukongs in public matches, we do shit solo, we don't need help).
He is great with good weapons, if you only invest in efficiency and health. I literally never use his abilities, only his 2 and a really good weapon.

i absolutely love everything about wukong, and his character. Ive read alot of the short stories and, he's just my favorite character to exist in those old type of stories.

Garuda and Wukong are both based off characters from hindu/buddhist mythology. Garuda is a sort of hype man of Vishnu, a legit badass mofo in the lore and has an entire saga of his own. Wukong, is obviously based on Sun Wukong, who himself is based off on Hanuman - is the living embodiment of badassery and i love how Warframe carried the predominant factor of both versions that is - "I am a bloody well Impossible to Kill so just don't bother." I'm a new player and I'm enjoying the everliving hell outta the game, mostly because all of you tenno are amazing and super helpful and I love y'all.

Yes; I can remember the last time I saw a Wukong in a public setting: It was a few days ago on Ophelia and there were two Wukongs that seemed to have joined entirely independently of one another (plus I sometimes use him so I don't have to do anything to keep my health up when levelling new non-melee weapons).
I main wukong because I love his story from journey to the West that much, it's just so cool reading a book about a monkey who just wanted immortality so he could party with his friends forever. so throughout the entire video I was basically shouting preach, really hope DE does something

He's not just a character in a book lol. He's also a deity in in many Asian cultures. For a dumbed down version of the "Journey to the West" stories, I recommend watching The Monkey King one and two. Very good.

I love coming back to this video after his rework. Ive played plenty of wukong before and after the rework, yet the rework was so amazing that it just makes me feel so happy inside knowing that one of my favorite characters got some of the best treatment this game has to offer. Its so relieving seeing all the bad wukong shit knowing that his fate turned out fortunate, thank you pablo, you are a saint.

P: like defy but has a percent chance to trigger but no cool down or one time go
1: still the jab but buff aoe and range
2: a hologram of wukong the can attack enemy’s but can’t really take damage and deal like half
3: wukong rides on a nimbus cloud with improved speed and can move freely along x, y, and z
4: still summon the staff but increase its damage and have it boost his 1

Well, he cant die to nullifiers or ancient disruptors and can be effectively immortal with a pet with hunter recovery and some arcanes.
Not to mention he is the go to frame when It comes to having your mods not rely on his abilities, *AT ALL* .

While I likely haven't gotten a fraction of total experience as others here, as someone who likes Wukong's look and kit enough to "main" him I would like to toss out my two cents (even if they more or less were spoken months ago by hundreds of others)
For a passive, the Nimbus works well. Make an Aerial slide summon it so he could do infinite Aerial slides by bullet jumping off one onto the other. Gives room for other moves to be updated while keeping the general focus. (looking back at JTTW, he does get cloud walker boots)
1: Either give the Jab more (infinite) reach to match the staffs real size and make the knockdown work consistently... Or turn it into a 180 degree sweep that can CC and leave opponents ready for heavy 4 punishes.
2: From what I've read about JTTW, Whenever Wukong finds another form of immortality, he manages to piss many people off. Defy can stay the same but everyone would want to stop that damned monkey instead of dealing with the OBJ/Other frames.
3: While it needs many additions to the point of not being recognizable, Cloudwalker is a start. While as a cloud enemies go from hostile to alert, and cannot see anyone outside the cloud (vice versa for those outside looking in). Lasers and the such aren't a problem. You can cancel the ability with 1 to go straight into that ability, or if you leave normally with your 2/4 active you get special abilities
4: Either give a massive Impact buff, or rework Impact to be a middle ground between Slash and Puncture. Little more
And now the special abilities of 3:
Transform + Defy = Defensive clones with Wukongs guns. 3/4 health and 1/3 gun damage and tend to remain near spawn location
Transform + Primal Fury = Offensive melee clones using the staff doing 2/3 staff damage and 1/3 health hunting down enemies around Wukong
Transform + Defy + Primal Fury = Offensive melee clones that do 3/4 staff damage and has 3/4 health. They can also use Wukongs 1 ability to give team CC and setup massive punishes with Wukongs real staff.
Energy costs will need to be tweeked. And Wukong will likely need someone who is good at supplying energy (*cough* Nezha *cough*) since this puts a big focus on him using his abilities constantly

I think his 3 would be better as a Disguise ability.
He targets an enemy, presses 3, then transforms into a copy of that enemy for some duration.
When he dies as that enemy, or the duration of his time runs out, he transforms back.
In addition, enemies will not attack him in that form, treating him as simply one of their allies.
In the chinese build, Wukong's staff extends to the size of the entire map of draco. I saw some gameplay of that and it was insane.
Give him the top from twilight princess, but it's a cloud and way faster

The clone aspect is doable now that umbra is out and he operates like a specter when you are in Operator mode. Wukong's clone could work on duration and be autonomous like a specter. Would be a great 1, keep defy, and his 4 would need a serious buff. For his cloud walker they could add elemental Damage to it as he moves around it would add AOE ability to his kit.
