HUNTING MUD CRAB ON TRADITIONAL LANDS

- We're on country with new friends and we're being schooled on how to catch mud crabs, the traditional way! We're all ears as long as the Fish or Mudcrab ends up in our OZBRAII. Thats right, this new grill basket is called an Ozbraii and its absolutely amazing. Everything seems to taste better in it. Young Benny here is a Traditional custodian, or one day will be, of the land we're exploring in this episode. He shows us around this beautiful creek system before catching us a mud crab to cook up for you guys on the fire. Another amazing day up here in Cape York, Far North QLD Australia.

Thanks mate
ive just found your channel. you guys are a crack up. loving the content so far.
Welcome aboard!
Me gramps loved watching you guys before he passed in January. You guys brought him a lot of peace so thank you for that. Was wondering where you guys were. Missed yuh. cheers from south of San Francisco!
Hey Cody. That’s so nice to hear mate. I wish I could’ve given him a shout out in an episode. Great to hear you are watching from all the way over there too. 👌🏼
Straight on the Coals brother
For me the cooking part is just as good as the catching because most of us don't have the privilege to catch them or cook them up and eat some tasty Crab so I wish the cooking part was more in detail and showing how to pick the meat and cooking them up in an awesome recipe
Junior Vincent
Epic boys 👌🏾
hi from uk gr8 to escape here for a while .Really enjoyed this (always do}but was special to watch bennie reminded me of aboriginal friend i had when i worked pipelines out there. He would take me off-spread and show me all bush stuff that was 40 yr ago and it will always stay with me. it would be good if bennie became full time as he is a cool guy and just got that way about him kinda makes your videos a bit different.also quality of filming is superb .keep up the good work your message of respect for nature impresses people worldwide
Thankyou mate, really appreciate that. Glad our respect for the land is coming thru on film. Yeah we’d love to have Benny on film more. Bennies Brother is the TO for the country we’re exploring there and will be in an episode in a few weeks too.
Great to hear you’ve had some cool experiences here in Australia and even better to hear ur watching from all the way over there in the Uk. The experiences like you speak of and what us fellas film and enjoy are what life’s all about in my opinion.
Great spot on the coast there
Great Vid boys, brings back memories of fishing and crabbing around there

@@bendangerfield1163 Make sure you say gday if you see us mate
Welcome back fellas.. Good to see your back at it... Lately I have been watching Malcolm Douglas's video series.. Growing up did you guys watch his television shows and if so.. How did they influence your adventitious lifestyle today.. Thanks
Hey Thomas! Thanks mate. We’ve just been out filming, we’re not going anywhere mate, the show is here to stay! We sure did. Malcolms a legend. He would have influenced my lifestyle sub consciously I suppose. I wasn’t watching it thinking I’m going to film my adventures one day more just thinking I want to get out Bush as far away as possible from civilisation like he did and live off the land. I actually hated having the camera on me literally until our first episode. 😂
@@WildReaches I appreciate your sharing your adventures with the world.. I would like to visit Australia someday.. I'm sure the big cities are nice, but I would like to experience the more rugged and off the beaten path areas.. Cape York where you are at and the Kimberleys.. Perhaps one day if my health holds up, but every year stuck in the house during the long winters and now the pandemic.. It looks like I will have to live vicariously thru adventures like yours... Thanks again
Come to the Northern Territory 🤙
We will mate!
Looking forward to that 🎣
Awesome guys , keep em coming, are Dans jeans available in your merch
maybe we should get onto that! Wild Reaches No ass 3/4 jeans haha
Great stuff guys
I’d apply for the job but I’m not that young and you can swim for your own bloody pots 😂😂
Haha fair call!
Can u uploads ya bloopers if Yous guys have any lols hahaha
Bloody oath! Frothing the muddy boys good on yas !
Thanks Jamie
@@WildReaches no worries always watch your guys content its great
Great footage as always, beautiful country we live in. Dan which episode was the one you show the build of your tinny.
Just bought my young fella his first tinny and would like a similar set up
Thanks
Hey Kevin, I think episode 2 and then one called “the ultimate big little boat” thanks mate, glad u enjoyed it ✌🏼
@@WildReaches thanks, was there an episode where you showed you actually fitting out the boat
@@kevinowens1367 i dont think so mate, just lots of bits and pieces
fuck yes mud crab vid!!! HOPE crabbing happens more often even though it was a minor setback with tides but land base is always more fun! :D
I hope so too mate! Loooove Mud crab
Was going to ask did you have to do any upgrades to the boat trailer to take it up those types of tracks thank you
We just fix and make things a bit better as they break. haha. The trailer was pretty solid and we just do bearings before each trip. That season that I had all the bearing trouble and then the dramas that followed I ripped the axle out and put a bigger axle under it with new hubs and bigger wheels. Changed the guards over to be more forgiving. At the end of the day its just a tinny trailer so we dont want to do too much to it. It now lives on top of the mini toy hauler
Where you get that cooking rack from??
Online mate. It’s an Ozbraai. Check out their website or you can order them from Harry’s website www.firetofork.net
@@WildReaches cheers mate
They’re so good! I might put a link to things like that that we love on our website.
Sound's like a Fun Job. What's the Hr'ly Rate? Have my own Set Up & Happy to Travel. Not to sure about the Swimming out to get the Crab Pot's though. Heee Haaahaaahaaa
haha The hourly rate is... one fillet of fish a day
@@WildReaches Sweet. Count me in ;) haaahaaahaaa
Cheers lads! Have you tried using wireless microphones? as it is hard to hear you sometimes.
Yeah we sure have. It’s really frustrating us too. We’ve recently tried some wireless mics which were epic until they just shut off without us realising and we lost hours of footage because of no audio 🤷🏼♂️. You’ll get to those episodes soon. So disappointing
@@WildReaches that is a shame
@@WildReaches Is it possible for you guys to do a commentary, over the lost audio footage?
Yeah hopefully, not our normal style but we’ll give it a go. 👌🏼
That's looks like a croc did that man I used to work crabbing in the gulf of carpinteria and that use to happen all the time crocs bloddy crocs
Think the other bloke is not on ur vids anymore, first time watching the earlier stuff , not a fan , love all the rest ! Later on in epps
he was not happy with yous fishing that waterfall u could see it in his face
I threw 2 casts and then we got out of there. Benny didn’t wasn’t to tell us no, I think because he’s a young fella but ur right, he was u sure about it so we picked o on that and left. It’s a very special place for the indigenous there and rightly so. 🤙🏼
@@WildReaches yea i would have done the same he never said but im soo susprised u did not get one barra man that crazy i was legit fish a drain yesterday 1.10cm barra
Very jealous how amazing did that river system look when you were launching the boat. It’s almost depressing seeing that manically places you get to explore compared to what we get at home.
Yeah Paul, its a very special part of Australia.
I wish that y'all would do more cooking showing how to get meat out of the crab just take more time and video the eating more
Y'all need to fish with some good fisha women, they might show yous some good spots.
Another laugh, the white boy got the crab that the traditional owner couldn’t get, too much KFC for that bloke, not even hungry.
Well he isn't getting paid for it mate good on him
Boring and waste of time
