Wow, I have just discovered steampunk! Imagine that...I have seen many of others on the media, but your caught my eye because of the simplicity. Especially since I am a beginner. Thank you so much for sharing, I have come to love all things steampunk. Kinda gets in your veins..huh.

Just found your video. Absolutley gorgeos journal cover. I was impressed at your use of black gesso. and your color choice of copper and blue was stunning. I also noticed when your were using the copper, how little paint you used! I watched the *blob* of copper paint that you were using hardly changed shape ! I see that you have several other videos and now I am off to watch them..Thanks for taking the time to make the videos. Of course, I will give an *thumbs Up* and will subscribe..LS

Love it! For people, like me, who have forgotten to wash their brush before the medium dried, I put a couple of brushes in undiluted Murphy's Oil Soap for 24 hours. Other than having to run my fingernail through some of the bristles, everything just dissolved off on its own. One brush had been that way for at least 6 months because I couldn't bear to throw it out since I had paid so much for it. Now I can use it again!

You just bust my dream - I thought you were working at the speed of light because you're clever - and then you said you'd speeded up the film .... gutted - I thought you had a big S on your shirt! Hi Mike, i saw you for the first tiime today on Hochanda. Oh wow! How have i missed you? I'm so inspired by your work....l'm on a book folding project 'Daughter' i shall be using your idea to cover the book plus a few of my own. Thanks for being so informative too. Oh wow! You are amazing and absolutely talented! You have earned a like and new subscriber to your channel. I'm 16 and have been working on art for years, in fact I want to make a career out of it. I want to be a Forensic Artist, and I still struggle. But Watching videos like yours really help me to keep going and following my dreams! ( I already have three art colleges looking at me! ) Keep up the good work, and I definitely cant wait to see more!
You've got that dry brush technique down pat. I'm still getting big smears, but trying to lighten up and find that sweet spot for the dry brush look.
It's a matter of as little paint as possible almost a whisper of paint rather than a wet brush..XO

Hi Mike, question, you do a lot of dry brushing, what brush do you recommend for all over usage as well as dry brushing, tried hog hair, was not so great for me, I am a little rough, tried finesse, but by the time I am done well it gets harsh with the dry brush.
I use a synthetic Taklon brush - the trick is to be light and not too heavy-handed - once you master that, almost any type of brush will work for you either real or synthetic.

+judith vance hi Judith, yes mostly, gel medium is thicker normally but it is pretty much the same thing!
