Em said the inspiration for "3am" was from moments of lost memories while on drugs. He would do interviews on tv, go home and see the interview and have no recollection of ever doing it. Relapse is a very dark album. Its just where his mind was after battling and beating addiction.
It was demonically inspired - the guy was saying "evil rise" while he looks like he's doing some ritual. My Darling is about his deal with a demonic "spirit" to become famous. -former fan who stopped listening to him because I did not want to be influenced by the demonic
@@rsr4423 😆 Yeah, because everything he says is literal. So he was really killing Kim and then made a song with his daughter about it. How about Criminal? Em is clearly a student of horror / pshyco films as he references them many times in many different tracks. No doubt he could write a pretty sick, twisted horror flick himself
I know a lot of people don't like this album but I think it's still pretty good. Eminem is just putting to song all the stuff going through his head while he cleans himself up. I think it's a solid outlet, and it paid off. Recovery was fantastic, and I don't know if it would have been made if he didn't make Relapse first.
Content wise the Relapse Album is just full of what EM was watching and reading at time of his rehab (Serial Killers Series, Documentarys, movies....) so nothing very deep....but from a Flow wise and word play pespective the album is Flawless and ISANE no one can touch it!!!! But the album has a very deep look in adiction and internal demons!
Mate, You really don’t know much Eminem. You should check out his albums in their entirety. A lot of people hated Relapse, but I think it’s a great album.
This song is fire and the schemes wow. Love it. And there's a cover by a drummer available on youtube that it's insane, kinda rock/metal vibes and mixes well with this song, simply amazing. Portugal here for the Goat Eminem always since day one and forever. Thanks for reacting. Salutes.
some context for this song/album, Eminem is a straight up fan of horror movies as well as psychological thrillers, he had just gotten off a pill addiction, he was teaching himself to rap again after overdosing and almost dying, he had three girls in the house all under the age of like 13 when he recorded this, with that last part alone it could drive anyone crazy lmao
One of my favorite songs from him. I absolutely love this side of Em. And his constant references to serial killers. Me and him have that in common. I know every name he drops.
I just realized this while watching the video (my first time too). Marshall is playing the role of a serial extinguisher, yes. But, he is a serial extinguisher of rap careers. And the chorus can be a metaphor for how he's accidentally taking out rappers just be 'blacking out' and writing some crazy lyrics. Love the reaction!
This song dropped on MTV at 3am and they played the video for an hour straight. I came home super drunk and because the scenes at the beginning and ending are kinda the same, I thought Eminem dropped an hour long song lmao
THANK YOU MRLBOYD SIR!👏 This is one of my FAV Eminem songs - very underrated BUT as others have commented *YOU MUST REACT TO FRAMED* - it's the next chapter of this 'story'!!! And true to Em's GENIUS level lyrics/vocabulary/rhyming schemes, it's just yet another reason to acknowledge THEE GOAT of the rap game!🐐
You can really look at this song (and songs like it) as a sort of double. Em frequently compares himself to a serial killer or psycho and talks about literal vivid killing, I think this imagery and these lyrics are a double for him killing other rappers and the rap game.
Not only that, but other rappers rap about the gang lifestyle to be "scary" and make you think "Man I don't want to fuck with that". Em has never been one to pose a gang member, so his "don't fuck with me" is this. I'm about that life, I'm deadly dangerous. Yeah you might be from the hood or slinging dope carrying a 9 or whatever but I'm the kind of killer that makes the news worldwide lol.
This song is from the relapse album and majority if not all of the album has a serial killer vibe/theme to it so you can just go ahead and expect several more serial killer type songs like for example my personal favorite off this album Stay Wide Awake
I remember the absolute hype for this album, Em hadn't done anything for years. Very underrated album in my opinion, I was straight to the shop the day it got released.....take my money 🤣
10:25 maybe he wants the flashlight to have a real good look around , y'know...once he climbs in...maybe? possibly? explore all the nooks and crannies. lol
Not so sure about that. It's too realistic and graphic. If this makes him shiver, don't know if Dance with the Devil won't make him puke or feel sick to his stomach at least...
Everyone judged Revival for being "too political" before it even came out, when there's only like half-dozen lines on the whole album referencing that subject. I think time will definitely do that album justice one day. It's not his best, but it's definitely up there.
