they were speaking the original language that was lost at the tower of babel. but all human are hardwired with this language so as soon as they hear it they all understood. remember there were 12 apostle but there was more than 12 language spoken around the world.the apostles speaks and each man understood (as if in his own language) the apostle was not speaking many different language just one that every human will understand if they hear it , and that is the miracle of pentecost.

So,since this was the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 - the great culmination and birth of the Church of the New Testament, it wasn’t in just any house but in the great Temple, where the great gathering of Jews were a witness to this great event!
