Nah. I feel like you all mistook the theme as "dark" when it's more of a "mysterious" theme but given the soundfont for the games, it became darker than it was meant to be.
the Pokemon Mansion is one of the most unnerving places in all of Pokemon and with one of the deepest backstories, and it goes so unnoticed, maybe because it shares region with mainstream Lavender Town. A place in ruins, with failed clone experiments all around the mansion and an unnerving music, on top of diary entries narrating the discovery of Mew and Mewtwo's creation, including Mewtwo's escape in which he killed most of the scientists and destroyed the mansion. A place that witnessed all the horrible things that were done to Mew while it was captured there, and it also tells the backstory of Mr. Fuji and how he ended up not only as a pokemon caretaker, but also a strong opposer to Team Rocket, the ones he actually worked for at some point (since Team Rocket was definitely involved in Mewtwo's creation). and its all completed by Mew showing up at Faraway Island in Emerald, where Fuji took Mew to keep it safe, and where he also left a message wishing for nothing else other than for a kind-hearted human to be the next one to step on that island after him, if there ever was one... Fortunately, it seems like Mr. Fuji's wish was fulfilled, since the next person to arrive in Faraway Island was Hoenn's hero and champion. Quite the story, sadly most people arent really aware of this (just like with Lavender Town's real backstory and meaning)

Excellent remix. If my icon isn't obvious enough, Mewtwo is my all time favorite Pokemon, as well as my favorite character to use in Smash Bros too. I would suggest doing Mewtwo's Battle Theme from Pokemon Stadium also.

Back when GameFreak wasn't afraid to be a little dark and edgy. The Pokemon games are way too kiddy now. I miss having rivals that were straight up a**holes and creepy lore around pokemon.
