    There should be a pt. 2 where the drums get made first to see if it's just the producer expertise level or really a drums vs melody debate

    Its important to remember that these are all trap beats. This is such a small area of music. Would be amazing to see this done with other genres. There's potential for a whole series!

      Drum and bass: which is more important, drum or bass? 😂

    • @aspiringjoker2883

      I would say this varies a lot per genre. Orchestral music is probably a lot more melody reliant, while something like prog rock is more reliant on good drums (shoutout to Neil Peart)

  • @reaper_is_unavailable

    Honestly that question is really dependent on the genres. Honestly some genres you get enough rhythm from the melody without the need for much drums like soul, jazz, and traditional gospel and there are others that are drums or die, like Reggae, Hip Hop (and ALL of its subsets), and afrobeat.
    Of course there is Pop, Rock, and Metal where both are absolutely essential or else it would be what it is.

    • @7echnoid
      @7echnoid 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Indeed. I would very much say it is genre dependent. Think about a minimalistic techno track... that's mostly gonna be driven by the drums and just some melody accents. Then at the same time, a throwback eurodance track would always have the same drums and be completely reliant on the melody hook...

    I loved beat 2 more! ...the guy who made the drums as a beginner did a good job but needed to crank them up a little. the drums were ok but too low. And about the first beat, of course the melody was too basic, but also I feel like the hi hat was too loud and the 808 too saturated or over clipping. I had to reduce a litte my studio headphones but it hit hard. Both had their good and bad. we are here to learn and get experience. thanks to all who participated.

  • @prod3kero
    @prod3kero 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Simon, I hope you see this. So In my opinion, both are important for their own reasons. The drums are like the nervous system and the melody is the skeletal system. The drums add to the song and make it sound better but the melody is the base for the song

    Both are important, its like bread, Peanut butter and jelly.
    Bread is the vocal
    Pj is the melody
    Jelly is the drums
    Individually all can be eaten and sufficient. You can have all three at the same time and have the best blend

  • @amerodemetri
    @amerodemetri 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Loved this experiment. The important of the two components don't really differ, since they are both required to make a complete beat composition but drums are just something that I think the average listener picks out as listening markers. The thing that stitches your melody to the template.

    I feel the main thing that differentiates a new producer to a seasoned one is the melody i started out just laying drums over loops because it was much easier
    So i would choose melody is slightly more important
    Music is rhythm (drums) and feelings (melody)

    when there's more rhythm involved in the sample itself, it allows you to do less with the drums as it does actually create movement. As well as factoring in melodic elements with call and response; because it fills out a lot of space in areas you might think to add drums, to compensate for the space. With that said, it works vice versa imo.

    IMO it depends on the genre. You can't have weak drums in trap or drill, but you can in pop and R&B. Just different requirements for each

  • @yyoshman
    @yyoshman 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    depends on the genre, but for most genres the melody is more important, for example jazz and classical doesnt need, and most of the time, doesnt have drums, but breakcore or any extentions of it (drum and bass etc).most rock, metal, grunge, punk, and most of that kind of similliar stuff is mostly melody, ambient aswell hiphop probably not but stuff like ambient pop and most genres melody is more important

    Hey maybe it's the bass, the bass is fondamental to your beats as it's actively being both a good rythmic and melodic element to your track. But anyway honestly yeah the answer is that both melody and drums are equally important.

  • @JSSoundsmusic
    @JSSoundsmusic 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    0:40 But it’s actually the reverse when you talk about a producer like Decap. With him, it’s like melodies are just melodies…the DRUMS are what really distinguishes his tracks. 🔥🤷🏽‍♂️

    Great video! I've got an ideea, what if you make Artist Vs Producer? Just like you did in this video. A team with a beginner producer and an expert artist and a team with an expert producer and a beginner artist.
    EDIT: If you are using premiere pro, you can actually remove the background noise by selecting the audio, then going to essential sound, preset-dialogue-clean up noisy dialogue. There you have the section "repair" where you can reduce noise (the bg noise), humble (I wouldn't recommend), de hum, de ess and reduce reverb. Hope this would help you!

I've noticed that you've never created a type of beat featured in the song "Inna - Hot," which has similarities to "Mr. Saxobeat." They are popular songs from Romania I think. Could you consider making a remake of "Inna - Hot" or something similar in a future TH-cam video? That would be awesome!
