This is awesome. Thanks for sharing, Basia :) love to hear that it's mostly been a positive experience for you all. I visited Berklee a couple years ago and was so in love with the atmosphere and facilities but super turned off by the price :(

It’s great to hear honest balanced opinions - so many people hate on berklee so hard and it freaks me out since I’m committed 😂 obv I know there’ll be bad but I’m glad to know there’s a lot of good too

Hello Basia! Thank you so much for such valuable info. My daughter was accepted at Berklee and starts there in the fall. I was wondering if you could answer this question that I cant seem to find the answer to. So, Berklee is the no 2 ranked music school on many lists, but the acceptance rate is 50% of applicants. One out of every two who apply. There are a roughly 6500 students at Berklee. So lets divide that by 4 for a rough amount of freshman which is 1625 students. THat means for a 50% acceptance rate, worldwide there can only be 3250 freshman applications. That seems very small to me. I would assume Berklee would get thousands and thousands of applications per year, way over 3 to 5 thousand. Any thoughts?

Dzień dobry! Bardzo miło się ciebie słucha Basiu! Chciałam zapytać czy przy aplikowaniu na music major na uniwersytecie w Teksasie, potrzebowałaś egzaminu SAT? Czy potrzebne były tylko oceny i oczywiście audycja:)? Po ilu latach nauki gry na instrumencie aplikowałaś na studia? Z góry dziękuję za odpowiedź. Super, ze podoba Ci sie w Berklee!!

Tak! Jak aplikowałam na studia do Texasu to musiałam podać wyniki z SAT plus oceny i audycja:) Musiałam podać te wyniki ponieważ najpierw trzeba się dostać na uniwersytet tak ogólnie a potem na sam wydział muzyczny i oni mają jako uniwersytet jakieś tam swoje wymaganie osobne - mam nadzieje że to ma sens :) . Na fortepianie gram od kiedy byłam malutka więc to gdzieś zawsze było w moim życiu jeśli chodzi o muzykę, ale na studia zdawałam na wokalistykę i na takie profesjonalne zajęcia z głosu chodziłam ok 2 lata przed samymi studiami.
Gdybym mogła jeszcze jakoś pomóc to pisz śmiało ☺️ mam nadzieję, że będę mogła coś podpowiedzieć :)

I dislike Berklee. Idk why. It just makes me like music less for some reason. We'll see when the major program starts. Also, its COVID season, so things are far less social. Gyms are closed, and its a little too "close quarters" for me. Another thing is that everyone is far too busy. The workload is strange, in how they dump a ton of work on you at certain points through the semester. I dont know if it was ever worth it. Every studio I'd been in prior to Berklee, every pro artist in music, the arts, etc., had the same ethos: just do it. Do it and you'll develop that way. Get involved in a community. I never intended to be at Berklee to become a concert pianist or a sophisticated jazz artist-- something I feel I should mention
