You don’t need a string. Just make 2” marks about a foot past each corner, get 2 rolls of tape started on the corner marks, have someone stand on the tape at the end, then standing up, pull the tape while walking backwards, then stretch the tape enough to keep it straight, until you line it up and stick it down on your marks. Hold the tape by standing on it, then have the other guy quickly run a broom down the tape to stick it. Then before painting, run the tape machine down all the lines . Also, stand up and roll the paint with a 3” roller. I do courts and striping for a living and bending down will destroy your back over time. Any time you can do something standing, do it. Just pull the tape by hand, it will be perfectly straight as long as you stretch it a little. Just don’t over stretch it. If the wind is blowing your tape around, once you are about to line it up on the second end, it will stop moving once it’s near the floor.

The Tape dispenser is on their website that they advertise throughout the video. It is priced at $308.00. I would maybe get two uses out of this, so I had my husband make me one, he used PVC and spacers to the width that we wanted which was 2”. Also I thought I would note the paint colors in this video look exactly like what I used on my court, which where by Sherwin Williams H & C concrete paint. Expensive but worth it! I live where we have 4 true seasons and our winters are harsh, this is an awesome concrete sealing paint that will last! Patio Green I used 8 gallons / Tile Red I used 12 gallons. I did 3 coats with a 12 hour dry time between each coat. My court looks the same size as in the video ..it’s approximately 20’ x 40’ . I would also like to note that my court hadn’t been painted in 15 years. This is not hard to do, so don’t be intimidated! Prep work and clean up takes more time than the actual painting. I started center and masked the outer edges of the green and rolled small sections horizontally until the square was filled in, let dry overnight and next day did 2nd coat vertically...3rd day horizontal and an hour after I finished the green I pulled up all my tape and retaped the next day the inside edges of the green and rolled first coat of red...next day I bought a 3’ Craco extension for my Titon 400 paint sprayer ($86.00 well spent) also put down canvas tarps around the inside edges of the green square and sprayed the second coat. My concrete had some severe wear and was difficult to get with a 3/8’ nap roller...it also took about 2 hours to roll the first coat...the sprayer took me 40 min!!! The reason I didn’t spray the first coat was only because I got so hung up on trying to find my 24” extension to my paint sprayer and since its summer..its painting season and everyone is completely sold out! I really didn’t want to fork out $86.00 for a 3’ extension when a 24’ extension is $40.00....let me tell you that the 3’ is worth every penny and will save time and your back. I know I will get a lot of use out of this as my house is 2 story. Just my 2 cents worth hoping to help others and give an idea as to what is involved and the expense( my size court was $3,200 in paint/rollers, I already had the tape on hand from painting the exterior of my house 2 years ago; which was about 6 rolls of 2” frog tape..But you could also use regular masking tape. I forgot to mention that I pressure washed and filled in cracks and holes with Moose Milk concrete which I also recommend before you paint or mask if you have an old court.

I've striped over a 1000 tennis courts with a 3" roller, and is way faster but does not produce as consistent finish as the
    squeegee method

I looked it up....8/24/20. The tape machine is $308.00 off their website that they advertise throughout the video. It is more than I would spend on a tape roller. Made my own out of PVC.

I bet it wouldn't be hard to make one or just pull the tape tight before laying

It's a commercial for a tape machine, not how to layout.
