      My first TV memories were Amos & Andy , my entire family would watch, nothing said in the dialogue that a child couldn't hear and it was funny.

    The best comedy ever made. These guys were so classy and polite. Why did this show get removed from the main stream. This show is better than anything on TV.

      @@rudolphsherkliff8726 it was definitely a cultural institution, the naacp never gets it right, even in the Brown v Board 1954 they let the writer's of the proclamation slip the words "all deliberate speed" and it caused the slow foot dragging reaction and schools, restaurants,hotels weren't fully integrated until 1970,71.

    According to a past Amos N'' Andy episode, "The Rare Coin," Calhoun was disbarred from practicing law years before.
    That bit of info came about from Calhoun appearing as legal counsel in court, whereupon the presiding judge recognized him, and exclaimed that he had disbarred Calhoun three years prior.

    I love this show! When I learned that this show is controversial for supposedly being racist,I had to laugh because there is nothing even remotely "racist" about anything on this great TV show. The characters and character types can all be found in most other tv shows of the time (and today),as there is nothing unusual or improper about any of the characters,situations,
    plots,storylines,etc. that I've ever noticed. Instead,this is a very sweet,well-made,and extremely funny show that is worth watching. Please,don't blindly believe my opinion or anybody else's opinion/review of this show. The only opinion that really matters is yours,so watch this with an open mind and tell us what YOU think!🌞

    • @aarondigby5054
      @aarondigby5054 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How could it be racist? All the characters got jobs: Dr's. attys, nursrs6,hotel bellhop, mechanics, cab drivers, nothing's said derogatory about any races, ethnicities, or religions, not any more stereotypical than Ralph Kramden of the Honeymooners always scheming on Alice, Sanford and Son and All in the Family were more racist and stereotypical in it's dialogue.

    • @mazzb305
      @mazzb305 ปีที่แล้ว

      This show mostly caught a bad rap because of the racist radio show of the same name, by the same creators. This show was excellent though and pre-cursor to many sitcoms that came after it.

    • @perrywhite2856
      @perrywhite2856 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the earlier production of Amos N Andy, the characters were played by white men in black-face makeup. Not considered racist by standards accepted then, it quickly became so by the sensitive and pandering execs of those days.

    There was criticism about this TV show, which led to its removal from the airwaves, as it was considered the show's main characters were considered stereotyped in a negative manner. But, all the supporting guest cast characters were working professionals, business owners, or worked in the legal system and medical fields; it showed African-Americans in a positive light.

    So the NASCP out these talented actors out of work. Note; great comedy with clever dialogue - no profanity, porn references or violence. Respect for marriage and women. Humor was always upbeat. Compare to what passes for comedy today.

      @@amyalewine Yeah, in South Africa i feel the prices are still high though...perhaps i need to do a quick market analysis, perhaps there is an opportunity there. Its important that black kids especially grow up seeing and playing with/around dolls which look like themselves. It has a huge effect for a society where anything that is good is associated with 'white'. Im not taking jabs at anything/anyone, just stating a fact we have lived.
