    Hey I have gotten better with double weft. I don’t know what I am doing wrong when I do the guideline. It comes out uneven. Sewing on the cap is difficult. Especially when I have sew a few tracks

    • @xeli8660
      @xeli8660 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      same here , even after I watch dozens of guideline videos I still messed up, but I ended up getting it before sewing the tracks on the wig. I recommend searching “guideline wig tutorials” for closures or lace fronts, whichever wig you’re dealing with so it comes out accurate. TikTok also has a lot of great short videos to save and learn from. If you have 3-4 bundles, it’s usually about inch apart from what I’ve gathered from all the videos I’ve seen. On the bottom half of the way to usually curve the lines downward, and on the top half usually slant them upward or straight but the last few tracks before the closure usually are slanted upwards on the side. Make sure you’re using a measuring tape, I actually measure the space on each side of the way the left middle and right instead of just the middle to ensure it’s even. Almost videos you usually see them only measure the middle but I’m not good at drawing straight lines or eyeing out anything. If you draw all your lines straight across from left to right , u might not have enough room for all the lines to equally be spaced. if it’s still not perfect, don’t worry because it doesn’t have to be there just guidelines and people usually go in between and add other tracks. If you mess up, you can also use a different color marker. Sharpie is the best.

      This one is hard to say because I was using hair on an old wig that’s was made by someone else. But, typically I use 3 bundles. Now, if the circumstances size of the head is bigger you may need more bundle’s depending on the desired look!

    @melanindawn2050 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for sharing, how many bundles do you recommend?

    • @KatlinPalmer
      @KatlinPalmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really just depends on the thickness/ look you are going for. Typically any lengths from 10-18 you can get away with 3 bundles for the average density. Lengths 20 and up I recommend 4-5 bundles. The longest the hair the shorter the wefts are. Also keep in my if you or your client have a bigger circumference there is more space to to be fill, so you will more than likely need a extra bundle . Hope this helps!

      No, I used the 23.5 canvas head because that was her actual measurements for her circumstance. Her head is a a little larger than a normal head.

  • @neh81
    @neh81 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One thing I’m still confused on - how do you know that the cap is the right size based on the canvas since the elastic shrinks when it’s not on the canvas? I’m scared my wig would be too small when I went to put it on

    • @KatlinPalmer
      @KatlinPalmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. When sewing on a wig cap it does shrink a little, the only time it’s shrink drastically is when you sew too many wefts onto the cap. For a normal size head size( 22 circumference) I put between 10-12 guidelines on the cap which is about and 1” apart from each other. As long as you convert over your measurements from your head to the canvas head, and space out your guidelines good enough (an inch apart) you shouldn’t experience major shrinkage. I hope this helps.

    • @neh81
      @neh81 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @UCASxRx17Y4PmAg-YxXu7LHA I think I need to try it using some old bundles. I’m so used to sewing by hand and I transfer my sizing to the canvas head but it’s puzzling to me how you keep that sizing when the cap is no longer stretched on the canvas. Thanks for the reply. I’ll definitely practice this!

    • @KatlinPalmer
      @KatlinPalmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have a heavy duty machine? I know when I was using a regular sewing machine mine would jam up quite a few times and would even stop working and I had to go to the repair shop to get it fixed. I will say if everything is threaded right then it may just be you need a heavy duty. Sometimes pushing too much through the sewing machine can be a lot. I hope this helps

    • @KatlinPalmer

      Back stitching helps make sure the track is set in place. If it just go through it once the thread is loose and Will easily come out. It’s kings the same rule with sewing close we always back stitch at the beginning and the end to lock it in!

      @@tarellwashington7589 just to make sure, when you say regular thread are you referring to the thread you can get from the beauty supply store? If so, I would say use that at your own will. That thread is 100% cotton so it is a little thicker than the all purpose. So depending on your sewing machine it may sew smoothly or it may not. I personally never used that type of thread, unless I was hand sewing. I hope this helps

    Please, o need answers to these questions:
    1. Why do u sew the cap before sewing the wig?
    2 Why do u double the weft?
    3. My wig never sit down well after sewing, there is always a lump like a gallop on the wig, what could be the problem?

    • @KatlinPalmer
      @KatlinPalmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey great questions!
      1. I sewed they cap because there was extra fabric that didn’t need to be there. I sewed it to make sure it fit the canvas head perfectly. You don’t want extra fabric when sewing that could cause lumps or even be to big for you or your clients head.
      2. I doubled the wefts so I can fit more bundles onto the cap to great a fuller look.
      3. I would say the lump is coming from stretching the cap too much (to make sure it’s flat) when sewing. I use to have this problem a lot when I first started sewing. I really started to take my time make sure I wasn’t pulling to much of the cap etc.
      I hope this helps, let me know if you want more details!

      @@olowoyeyeoluwanifemi6309
      Yes, so when you are sewing your tracks to the wig cap, make sure your not overly pulling on the wig cap to make it appear “flat” when you’re sewing. This will cause the tacks to lump up and not lay flat against your head. Also keep in mind of you measurements as well, if you feel like it’s lumpy look see where exactly it’s lumpy and make sure you’re measurements were taking down correctly too.
