Thank you. I have had my HFR 200 for two years and never fully knew how to use it proficiently. Your video made it so easy to learn all the functions rather than merely using Auto. Thanks again.
Thanks for the thorough review. I know it's a bit of an older camera now at this point, but I just bought it primarily as a webcam for art (the 57x digital zoom to zoom in on detail..) and think it will do the trick. But I appreciate the overview before it arrives.
@@InfoProductEarnings thanks Mike. Working on building it up and making better videos not shot on my phone. Hopefully this will be a step in the right direction. I appreciate your expertise.
thank you so much, plugging the sd card into the laptop directly saved me so much trouble I had to sit there laughing at the sky. God bless you and your endeavors
Great video, OK? Excellent advice and counsel, OK? Cleared up a lot of issues for me, OK? Will be on the lookout for additional videos from you, OK? Thanks, man, OK?
Thank you very much. I watched this video because I'm deciding to buy this camera for vlogging on my channel. I think its a good device. Greetings from Colombia and thanks again.
Any idea why the microphone would stop working with the camera? I have it on camera mode, the microphone that is. I plug that microphone elsewhere and it works, but it no longer works on this camera. It was just plug and play before, what could have gone wrong?
Yes, I know why your microphone won't work with the any Canon Vixia HF series. The reason is because you need to be using a self powered mic. The camera port will not power a mic. You need to use a mic that has it's own power supply, any lav mic with a watch battery or mini shotgun with a AA battery would work. I have 3 vixia HF r600's, love them.
Can you please tell me how to connect the camera to my laptop for streaming? Does a memory card need to be inserted? HDMI or USB? My laptop doesnt recognize the camera. Im kind of desperate... many thanks!
Hi Sulie! I've never connected the camera directly to my computer for streaming purposes. I always set the camera on a tripod and shoot my video of me standing or sitting while I talk. Shooting the way I do requires the camera have a 64Gig memory card as the camera has no internal memory. I'll give it a try and see if I can get the camera to connect to my Mac. P.S. I'm sorry I missed your question earlier!!! --Mike McMillan
I found this video on the topic that might be what you're looking for. Unfortunately there is a cost involved in using the capture card he uses in his video. th-cam.com/video/PZWL2cCZ5zQ/w-d-xo.html Here is where you can get the kind of card he uses. www.elgato.com/en/capture-card-selector
Hi Peter! I use the following lav mic for the camera. It's about $25 on Amazon and it's an Amazon Prime item so it will ship for free in 2 days if you're a Prime member. www.amazon.com/dp/B00UXNZ1BM
Great video. I am seriously thinking about getting a camcorder for possibly making videos for TH-cam. I like your model 700 and I also saw another video for the 800 and they are practically the same thing, I don’t see a difference but I’m sure there is somewhere. Again, thanks for the insight of the camcorder.
Thanks for the video. Could you manage to use SD cards class 10? It seems to use them you need to update the firmware. I havent found any site where I can download it.
Hi Angel. The SD card I showed in the video was a class 10 card. Here is a page that shows how to update the firmware for the H4N Pro. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the info they give there but it does seem to show how it's done. @@InfoProductEarnings Dear Mike, Thanks a lot for your answer! For your info, and in case other have the same question as me.. I t was even easier, finally I did not need to update the firmware, I just needed to initialize the card on the camera. Have a nice week. Regards from Mexico.
How do you get the video into the computer? When I use the USB, I don't see anything pop up on my computer indicating that the cam is connected. My Mac is new and doesn't have all the old slots, but I do have an adaptor.
Hi Liza! There are different ways, Liza. You could use the cable that connects the camera to the USB port on the computer. But what I do is record the video, shut the camera off and then remove the SD card. I then put the SD card into the computer and drag the video clip into my computer or into the editing application I use. I hope that helps, if not ask again and I'll try to clarify. My Best--Mike
Hi Peter. I use a SanDisk 64Gb SD card. How long it can record depends on the quality setting of your recording (720, 1080 etc.) and the format your are recording (.mov, mp4, etc.) but it can hold approximately 80-90 minutes of HD video. Hope that helps. Good question. --Mike McMillan
I have the R800. If you have a problem with getting fingerprints on your camera, just get the 800. Only problem with the 800 is that it scratches easily.

I have one but never got to learn it fully. The "instructions" that came with it are shit and very brief. It is a good camera that I wish I knew how to use better, just wish it had a pause feature since I don't know basic editing.
Yes, a pause feature would be great. Just so you know, I use ScreenFlow to edit all of my videos. I highly recommend it but it only runs on Macs. --Mike McMillan
Hi! Unfortunately I don't believe there is a way to pause a recording with this unit. You would have to stop it and then start again resulting in two separate video files. You could, however, easily edit the two clips together in any video editing software. (I use ScreenFlow.)
