    Thank you! I tried this over the weekend using a couple of dollars worth of wood and an old quilt and it worked perfectly! Especially after steam cleaning them, they look brand new. Saved me $$$

    Hey Mark, How awesome of you to share that information with us when you could have easily kept it to yourself, requiring us to visit someone like yourself to restore the comfort end of our parson's chairs. I purchased some parson's chairs (second hand) and am finally getting around to reupholstering them, but noticed that the seat portion sagged quite a bit. I'm so excited that you're kind enough to share some great insight and advice for those of us who are not professionals. It looks like I could stand to watch a few more of your videos as well, so I'm a grateful new subscriber! Thank you again for so willingly sharing what "the average Joe or Jill" can do to restore this parson's chair!

    Thank you so much! So glad I kept on searching. This is exactly what I needed to know how to fix! We have 8 diningroom chairs, but the fix would work the same. It also has the same webbing. It is easy enough to do and won't cost me 150$ per chair. Very much appreciated.

    Where can I buy that drill bit you are using at 3:16 -- looks like you are counter sinking and inserting a pilot hole?

    This is just what we need! Our chairs sagged only a few weeks after we got them new. Furniture repair quoted $250 each which is what each chair cost to buy. If only we had tools like you have.

    Great video! Are you able to share what type of foam that is? What is the thickness of foam you are using (I know it might be chair subjective)? Is it available at a hardware store or specific to furniture?

    • @MarksUpholstery
      @MarksUpholstery  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 40 compression(medium). I order from a foam company. You can get foam in different thicknesses on Amazon. Thickness is determined by the space you fill.

  • @dotshirley9275
    @dotshirley9275 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have a video showing how to plump up the back of a chair that isnt a loose cushion.

    • @MarksUpholstery
      @MarksUpholstery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t have a tight back video. They usually have to be reworked during reupholstery. Some backs are semi-attached cushions that can be unzipped from the bottom and insert removed.

    Would this trick work on a 3 seated sofa in leather as well? Its exactly the same straps but wider apart and the middle seat is sagged down quite a lot. The straps / webbing are way too long since its a 20 year old well loved member of my family 😂 Prices over here in Sweden for materials and labor is at least tripled by comparison to the states and other countries so I can't realty afford asking a professional to fix it for me.. 😢

    • @MarksUpholstery

      Generally, you can web in foam from underneath

    Thanks Mark! Quick question if you have a moment. I have a very similar chair even down to the strap color (restoration hardware - disappointed in them). However the chair you're working on seems to have a deeper cavity to work with. After removing the bottom fabric, I only have a 2.5" deep cavity to the straps. Doesn't leave much room for a 2" piece of foam (looking at what you recommended) and maybe .5 square plywood and min of 1" for the brace. Even if I get that to work, will it then just feel like I'm sitting on a board?

    • @MarksUpholstery
      @MarksUpholstery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your best option is to use 3 inch foam webbed in from the bottom with jute webbing. Yes, doing as in the video with less cavity will make the seat firmer

      @tomn68 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1
