    Thank you so much for the shout-out Kenan! It’s awesome to see you feature some venomous snakes, as you know the vast majority of snake videos tend to oversensationalize some of these animals, and it’s great to see more down to earth videos like this.
    As you know your welcome here any time you want to meet some more Australian Elapids

    Carl is a living piece of reptile history. What a boss. 12 some bites, and still working with snakes?! That's love right there, and passion. Most people would be out with 1. His whole demeanor is great through the video, very positive and encouraging. Having confidence at a time where someone else (Kenan)might need it.

    I live in Queensland Australia and I’ve seen a large one of these large coastal Taipans in the wild. Possibly the coolest experience of my life. Bite incidents are actually very rare as they tend to avoid human contact if possible.

    Awesome video . Thanks ! My brave former SEAL Hubby and I were visiting a great collection and I was being shown the very large cobra. He decided that he had enough and was backing away and realized he had come up against a small fence. His choice was over the fence or stay and over the fence were some good sized crocs! He was ready to go with them rather than the cobra . It ended well with all happy in the end.

    I sit on the toilet when I watch venomous snake videos. .. so I don't crap my pants.
    I have an irrational fear of all snakes (ophiophobia). So I try to watch these videos to lessen my fear of them (I also happen to be a cop). I live and work in the Boston area so it is unlikely that I will encounter venomous snakes at all. That being said, I'm a former Marine and I deployed to Iraq three times (from 2003 to 2007) and I was stationed in Twenty-Nine Palms CA.
    While I was in California, I had several encounters with Mojave Rattlesnakes. Once while I was on watch duty at night and a second time while doing mock patrols. They absolutely terrified me.
    When I was in Iraq we were recovering a vehicle in a small tributary off of the Euphrates River. We had to enter the water to hook up to the Bradley. When I was getting out and climbing up the bank, a decent sized all black snake was basking in the sun. It turns out it was a desert cobra. I was eye level with it (it was higher up on the bank). I ran back into the water as fast as I could to get away from it. I still get chills thinking about how close I got to it. I've honestly had nightmares about it after.
    I don't understand how people can comfortably work with snakes. Though, I do appreciate that this work is being done. Thanks for the great video, I'm a long time subscriber.

      Inland Tais are certainly amazing snakes, and easily the most venomous snake on earth (although the western desert taipan hasn’t had any toxicity information published yet)
      However you really can’t consider the inland taipan the most dangerous, thankfully it’s natural range (being far away from people) and the fact it spends most of its time in holes underground mean it almost is never seen, most taipan bites are actually from captive animals!

    • @WickedWildlife
      @WickedWildlife 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sandra Chapman I imagine you would have coastal taipans where you are
      Inland taipans live too far west to grow sugar cane and coastal tais are famous for living in cane fields
      Funnily enough though 99% of taipan call outs turn out to be big eastern brown snakes as taipans are so altert and fast they are usually gone before you see them

    • @pizzagal7
      @pizzagal7 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WickedWildlife you are probably right. I live about an hour away from the coast in fnq. I haven't seen the taipans myself (which is good because I am scared of snakes) but someone else who lives on the farm says that he has seen them.

      Sandra Chapman I used to live and work in Townsville and was constantly looking for taipans

    • @pizzagal7
      @pizzagal7 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WickedWildlife you are brave to work with them. I may not be able to properly identify them, but at least I know the first aid!

    • @WickedWildlife
      @WickedWildlife 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sandra Chapman identification is interesting but I always tell people it’s not really that important, first aid is what’s important and the hospital can identify what sort of snake bit you from the venom left on the skin of the bite sight
      Luckily women don’t get bitten half as often as men because your all too smart and sensible to be fooling around with snakes 😂
      If you ever want a refresher on first aid I have a video on Australian snakebite first aid on my channel :)

      @lydiaeddins2083 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From other videos and articles I have seen/read, yes, it can be hard on them. These animals are very valuable for their venom, so, everything possible is usually done to reduce emotional and physical stress. They are rotated with other snakes of their same species, to give each one enough of a break to recuperate. But there can be long term damage done to their necks over time or by accident.

      I worked with a coastal taipan that was used for venom collection for ten years, and I think it had certainly affected the snakes Behavior, this one taipan unlike any of our others (10 or so at the time) would never calm down while being handled which I believe was the result of being milked almost every time it was handled
      However it’s necessary to save people

    I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️ but it’s probably better to deal with full snake instead of a hungry one..?!?!

    The taipan in the video looks sedated, that’s why the guy is handling it

      Greg M the bloke milks snakes for a living, he doesn’t need to sedate them before handling them
