    In these videos I will teach you how to install auto upholstery jute carpet padding. Jute padding is used as a base layer for automotive carpet. Jute helps to insulate the car from heat and noise as well as smooth out the floor creating a nice even surface to glue your auto carpet to. This is an important upholstery skill to learn for beginners.

      The Lucky Needle, that's what I use at work. Just wanted to see if you use something different. I see you are using the HF gun. Are you using the stock tip or are you using a larger one? I have that gun also at work and struggle with getting to to spray evenly. Usually get a bunch of spitting and sputtering with an uneven fan. I'm currently rewrapping some headliner panels in a yacht and opted to brush it on with a foam brush. when I spray it I tend to get a lumpy finish due to the clumps of glue under the fabric.

      Hey, Yeah its the HF gun. It has the stock tip. I think its 1.8. You have to bump the pressure up to about 90+ for it to work well. Also make sure the vent nipple and tube on the pot is completely clear. Check to see if the bottom of the pot is filled with old glue that is too thick. These 3 things pretty much always the cause of the problem your having. If not i just buy a new one. That's why I use those for glue, because there so cheep. If its spraying properly you wont be able to see the glue bumps when you lay down the material. I hope that solves your problem because id go crazy having to hand brush a job that big!

    Do you recommend putting down Dynamat or Dynaliner for the floor?

    • @Theluckyneedle
      @Theluckyneedle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its really up to you. If you want that extra sound deadening and heat resistance you can also use Dynamat. My opinion is it really expensive and not worth using.

      And Dynamat is heavy! It's a gnarly sound deadener and I see people basically cover the entire car in it, but I've seen the reps use just a small square to attenuate a bell. So why wouldn't you be able to just use smaller strips of it to knock down sound and what not in a car? Doesn't make sense to me how they apply it, probably to milk money from sponsors on TV and customers off the air.

      To add on to my response, extra weight kills performance and economy. A car covered in Dynamat or one of it's bastard brothers would easily add a couple hundred pounds.

      they sell a lighter version in Lowe's that the whole car Community knows is a cheaper version and has been using for quite some time is $16 a roll and it's called Frost King duct insulation and it's lighter than Dynamat I actually have quite a few waterproof lightweight sound deadening options in Home Depot and Lowe's rather than buying from car companies.

      I also don't understand why if you're going this far with a car that you wouldn't put down some kind of protective epoxy rust killing paint like por-15 or Rust-Oleum with a little enamel hardener in it every paint company out has something like this in a black gloss for all different prices.
