    My Dads ashes were scattered on Crummock Water, and I went to the first beach by the woods to say a prayer and scatter red roses on the water to remember him. Thank you so much for this video. My Dad and I are both Whitehaven born.

      What a lovely part of the world for you to remember your Dad. A beautiful final resting place. ❤️

    You do realise that with a certain amount of Chinese whispers, the Crummock bear could become enshrined in local folklore and have people flocking there for a sight of it.
    Never been to Crummock Water. It is absolutely stunning. Another to add to the list.

      🤣The Crummock Bear! Now there’s an idea. I best register the trademark before someone else does. 😀

    One of our favourite walks
    Never anything less than boggy along the foot of Melbreak.
    Lovely video. Not spoiled by meaningless comments. Completely share your appreciation of Crummock water.
    Heaven on earth.
    Parking is free at Lanthwaite, on road side car park and Cinderdale. Either one is good for circular walk around Crummock water. We sometimes use the bus to get back from Buttermere to Lanthwaite, to avoid walking on the narrow, sometimes busy, road.
    Thank you, vey much.

    Thanks for the video, enjoyed it. My favourite place in the Lakes. That view when you walk out of the woods and suddenly see the lake. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, especially with the weather like that!

    I went to Cockermouth school in the late 80’s and my form was Crummock water..1C, 2C etc…we went on a trip out there… I remember it well 🤩

      I was in Overend School, Whitehaven before it closed in the mid 80s. I was in Pillar house. 😀 We also had Grassmoor, Kinniside, Ulpha, Melbreak & Copeland. Great days. I wonder if any of the local schools still have classes named after local landmarks. 🤔

    Was lucky enough to holiday in this area a week ago and did a bit of wild swimming in Crummock and Buttermere. Strangely despite being larger and deeper than Buttermere my wife and I found the water to be noticeably warmer in Crummock (this was later backed up by a local lad hold told me they always swam in Crummock for the same reason). Anyway it’s a lovely area of the Lakes. Thanks for sharing Paul.

      Thank you. Pleased you enjoyed your swim, I’ve never swam there myself but I’ve heard it’s a warmer lake. 👍🏻😀

      @@ThatllDoVlog yeah it was surprisingly warm. I’m not too keen on wild swimming if the water is very cold, but have to say Crummock last week was pretty warm and I really enjoyed it.

      Great scenic video. I want to visit Crummock water and plan to park in Crummock water car park, take bike out of car and cycle northwards anti clockwise around Crummock water then also do same around Butter mere. Lake, Is this possible to cycle around both lakes please

    • @ThatllDoVlog
      @ThatllDoVlog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the right type of bike probably yes. There will be some bits especially on the northern edge of both lakes where you will need to take the road. Buttermere especially.

    Brings back so many great memories... Thanks, Paul. I used to spend summer holidays down by the weir - egg mayonnaise sarnies and Monster Munch pickled onion crisps - jumping into the lake and the plunge pools, and rope swings into the River Cocker further downstream towards the Lanthwaite car park. What a cracking day you had (weather). I always loved the fact that this end of the Lakes felt more of a 'locals' secret, away from the typical honeypot tourist locations. Regards from NZ, marrer

      Thank you. I agree, it does have that more local, less touristy feel. 😀 I also love Monster Munch pickled onion. 👍🏻

    Can you camp around here?

    • @ThatllDoVlog
      @ThatllDoVlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean wild camping. I’m sure that in the Lakes you need permission from the land owner but someone with more experience of wild camping may be able to help. 👍🏻
