When asked about the price, I was waiting for him to say, "Well, we're a small company, ya know. We only have four employees and that's counting my dead cousin and my vegan chinchilla. So...no one can afford this amp".
I buy up red knob princeton chorus fender amps and do an eminence speaker swap and amaze people with the tone. The trick is they distort well on their own like no other era. It was when Rivera w/ CBS designed the fender amps but if you set the chorus rate on 0 and the level on 10 you get a stereo spatial sound without the wave sound. Scharts amps does the same thing in one of their amp and the knob actually says 'spatial'.
I have said this time and time again. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If it is too expensive and you can't afford it, don't sweat it! I can think of a lot of amp choices that suit me better than this amp. However, the man has the right to make the amp and charge what he feels it is worth. This just might be the perfect set up for someone, so let them agonize on how to pay for it.
Wrong. Agonized, got 3 non musical jobs, now i dont have time to play. Lol. They're going to make so many maybe I'll get a second one that'll be really fun. Thanks for having the Right to leave us out. Yes he has a Right, even has the Right to pain staking forge solid gold knobs with diamond inlays with his butt cheeks if inclined. An expensive talented artist and a genius? Build more than any other amp at 3,500.00? Henry Ford was the talented artist and genius and obviously he's no Henry Ford. Money Talks bullshit walks I'm better than a million other amp builder attitude. No matter how talented, his elitist attitude will sour many a man in this case musician. WTF. In the words of Perry, "Let The Music Do The Talkin". Power to the People.
I think you’d save more money if you bought a Fender Princeton, with a CB Gravitas and a CB Warped Vinyl and have more options. The Sorcerer looks and sounds superb but with a 3.5k price tag, comon. I love Benson and I love Ryan but... comon. All the best in the end. Benson is an awesome amplifier company and Ryan Adams has been my favorite musician since 2005 when he released three masterpieces in one year. I’m just salty that I can’t fathom to afford an amp where Ryan wants to sell, “More of these than any amp existed.” Come back to earth.
Love the VU meter! I've never seen chorus built into an amp that integrally. I keep thinking of how Alan Holdsworth consistently used an iconic strong chorus effect on his clean sound though.
Wow! in Canada that's over $4K! For that kind of dough I'd rather have a vintage Princeton Reverb and just use JHS VCR and I'd still have a ton $ in my pocket!
I'd be happier with a Princeton 65 Reverb reissue and a chorus pedal. Always a bit suspicious about signature amps anyway. LOVE Benson amps though - those demos with Ariel Posen are great.
I'm basically a caveman guitar player .. an amp like this would be a total waste for me ... i would basically just run my Death By Audio Apocalypse pedal "dimed" into the front .... So that would be $3,500 dollars out that window.....
Some of the boutique guys are getting out of control. This amp isn't expensive to build, it's expensive to own. They may have a licensing agreement for the chorus, but it can't possibly be so much more that it adds a significant amount. This is a simple math equation. We know we won't sell many, but the ones we do, we will make money on. I know that whoever the heck Ryan Adams is didn't really care if there was a VU meter.... It's not an essential part of the amp, so it just adds cost. Chorus built into the amp, well, I'm glad it's a signature model. Where I tend to get more upset is when you have an existing design and then you throw a couple added features onto it and add $1000 to the price... Think about that, the chassis, chorus, and VU meter add $1,000 to the cost.
The only thing I didnt like abo ut this video is when he said we will start with the boring stuff the clean im like that was the most idiotic statement ive ever heard how is clean tones boring they have feel and amazing sound if the amp is good if its boring to you then you obviously arent that great of a player if you cant play on a clean channel and make it sound good then you need to practice yo u know your doing somrthing right if you can make your leads sound good on clean channels to many people try covering there playing with these extreme distortion tones that cover your playing now zi love some ovedrive and some thickness with some grit but clean tones are also amazing none of the tones on a good amp are boring he should watch what he says because that kinda make sit sounds like he doesnt like the amp on the clean channel and there are alot of players thatg love good clean sounding amps and most pedals will be used on the clean setting
Sounds great. But damm is it ugly! I don't know what the vue meter is doing, it's tacky. It's the wrong type of handle for a blackface style of cab and it's shame to have front screws on the baffle. Sure, it's the sound that matters, but in this price range it has have some style too.
That's way too much for this amp . I could see $1000-$1200 . They should have thought this one out more . People don't care that it cost you a lot to build , they want a deal . For that price you can buy a nice Fender , Supro or Marshall .
Lots of people care about what the components costs. I doubt their business plan is to sell 20,000 of these a year like a major mass marketer. I make decent money, have few bills and have decided that I’d rather have a couple of great, no compromise amps than a bunch of mediocre stuff but that took me years to figure out what I liked and needed let alone could afford so amps like this aren’t so sticker-shock heavy.
David Robertson ....production cost has very little to do with sound ...some of ur best guitar recordings ever weren't done using " boutique amps " ....that shits grossly overpriced....regardless what it cost to build...
This Benson dude on another thread got completely butthurt over me challenging him on his ridiculously priced over rated amp. I mean over several days. Mostly for me pegging him on stating on the website he has taken the designs on some of his amps from classics then flipping. I don't get the hype to be honest I have heard better cheap amps from joyo. For 3500 I can get a hell of a goof MATAMP or Hiwatt amp.
" Benson dude on another thread got completely butthurt over me challenging him" your touching yourself in a special way if you believe anyone from a boutique amplifier company set to serve professionals took any notice of you sounding like 16 year old virgin who cant tell the difference between a joyo amp and a boutique amplifier. no point pretending you were even noticed if you don't put the link up. I could bet my moms antique cuckoo clock collection that you could never build a real guitar amp or even play well enough to put up a clip
When asked about the price, I was waiting for him to say, "Well, we're a small company, ya know. We only have four employees and that's counting my dead cousin and my vegan chinchilla. So...no one can afford this amp".
Haha, ALL Chinchilla are vegan lol!
I love them, wish we could have them here!
Aaaaaand suddenly the price tag of a handwired Fender 64 Deluxe Reverb doesn't look as bad anymore.
They definitely need to make the chorus and trem footswitchable between each. Great sounds
"Hi this is Shawn Hammond with Premier Guitar (insert complaint about NAMM being too loud or exhausting or something) and I'm here with..."
Very cool amp. Although I would probably rather have a Princeton and a couple Strymon pedals for much less.
I buy up red knob princeton chorus fender amps and do an eminence speaker swap and amaze people with the tone. The trick is they distort well on their own like no other era. 3:08 Nick Greer creepin' in the back. 😎
Haha, Greer lurking back there around 4:45 :D
Wow, that's a killer amp...best of luck with it Chris

But complaining in youtube comments is free
kckennedy55 ok chairman

Never say Never! th-cam.com/video/AwbMY315Qp8/w-d-xo.html
Looks like a box of Miller High Life
Of all the effects to build into an amp--why chorus???
have you even listened to Ryan Adams?
It's like a Tube JC120

wasn't there going to be a Ryan Adams rig rundown? did he diva out and kill it?
But, he always said he wouldn't use anything but a Princeton
Cool amp. I love Ryan's music and his playing, but at $3500, I'll have to just admire it from afar.
Greer guy staring them down in the background...:)
Sounds incredible. Nice!
I wonder if the trem is accomplished with the CBA chorus circuitry. If so, CBA should make a chorus/vibrato/tremolo pedal. ❤️
I love the tremolo on this. Way better than my mod tone harmonic trem which is probably why I no longer have that pedal
Wow! in Canada that's over $4K! For that kind of dough I'd rather have a vintage Princeton Reverb and just use JHS VCR and I'd still have a ton $ in my pocket!
Michael Moniz Check out the Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb 12W 1x10". Ryan Adams also does the review video on the amp for Fender.
Michael Moniz in Australia that's 5$k easily then you pay import tax!
Joel makes awesome things, but they're just not affordable for most people.
Looks great, sounds fantastic. WAY out of my price range but I'm sure it's worth it.
frozencons ....uuuuh....no , it's not worth it ....
Only amp I would be willing to pay that price for is a vintage bassman.
I just played a tweed pro 1952 less money then this...and it beats it...no reverb no corny trem or chorus lol
Rivera S120 has chorus in it. That was in the 90’s.
sounds great
Even the maker is embarrassed to say how much it is :-) That price is crazy.
$3.5K? I'll stick to my H&K with chorus & Reverb pedal!
@ DMSProduktions - Man, I can dig it!!!!
$3.5K ... American dollars? Holy cow. :/ I love Ryan Adams, but his budget is considerable more than mine. Sounds killer though.
Seems like a Princeton Reverb
sounds great. But extremely expensive.
Monarch amplifier?
That’s a very expensive Princeton with chorus.
These guys moved on to Amy Grant custom model called "Angels"
please dont touch my mic
Actually sounds good
Killer tones
What a beautiful amp
Bryan Adams?
I'd be happier with a Princeton 65 Reverb reissue and a chorus pedal. Always a bit suspicious about signature amps anyway. LOVE Benson amps though - those demos with Ariel Posen are great.
she's a beaut
super cool
I will go with the Katana I plan to purchase for 2 Benji's !!!
Nice sound even on TH-cam, if ya dont like it move on....
Woooh.... mason stoops my man represent brother
I hope they still release this under a different name
Does Ryan even use this? I figure he just keeps using his Princetons
Sounds like purple rain tone
Looks like a Berhinger from the naughty's
Very cool 👍👍👍👍
you can buy a Magnatone Twilighter Stereo Combo for this price which sound much better
Benson!!!
3500?! ridiculous
COME ON MAN $$$$$$$$
I'm basically a caveman guitar player .. an amp like this would be a total waste for me ... i would basically just run my Death By Audio Apocalypse pedal "dimed" into the front .... So that would be $3,500 dollars out that window.....
My super champ XD with ragin cajun speaker does good enough for me.it does the things this does for 10% of the price,

Tone king imperial far superior amp all the way around and at a better price
Sorcery
Wow chorus and a VU meter, I love buying crap that I will never use! How much? I could make my own signature amp for 3500 dollars.
Womp womp.
Makin amps for skin beefers huh?
Should've named it "The Womanizer"
Sounds awesome, but I really don't like signature shit. I don't want someone else's name on my gear unless It's the name of the company.
Sounds great. But damm is it ugly! I don't know what the vue meter is doing, it's tacky. It's the wrong type of handle for a blackface style of cab and it's shame to have front screws on the baffle. Sure, it's the sound that matters, but in this price range it has have some style too.
Exactly what I was thinking about the screws on the front. Tacky. As long as you are charging $3,500, hire a designer to help out with the aesthetics.
It’s different. I dig it.
3500k hell no
I hate to be rude but shut up and play!!!! action is louder then words ..
What average guitar player can afford this amp....Get Real...
Don't you mean BRYAN Adams?
DMSProduktions they said it right. It's another artist. Ryan Adams
DMSProduktions no its ryan adams.
Fun fact:ryan and bryan share the same birthday
LOL!
WHO is Ryan Adams?
DMSProduktions this is Ryan Adams
th-cam.com/video/g_c1YM53Wwo/w-d-xo.html
lol. Videobombing.
Woden of the Angles who?
04:40 and 10:29
Thats Nick Greer :D
Wow! That's one ugly guitar amp. May sound good.... but ugly.
That's way too much for this amp . I could see $1000-$1200 . They should have thought this one out more . People don't care that it cost you a lot to build , they want a deal . For that price you can buy a nice Fender , Supro or Marshall .
"I could see $1000-$1200" ? That may pay for half the parts. Not everyone is just looking for a deal.
Dont start your own boutique amplifier company; your clueless about production costs
Lots of people care about what the components costs. I doubt their business plan is to sell 20,000 of these a year like a major mass marketer. You’re just butthurt because you can’t afford one of his wonderful machines
