I love this version. Why? While Elton's original sounds amazing, it's much more sombre at the start. There's less energy in the beginning of Elton's version, making it feel more dramatic, sure, but the energy it gives off is of a man who doesn't seem so sure at first...this version has more energy, more pop, and it just ~feels~ like a triumph from the get-go, while the original sounds like the singer is only just realizing their potential, rather than knowing they've had this potential and have just been hiding it behind a veneer. while the original is a slow-burn at first, this version just floors the listener from the get-go.

The lyrics of this song really hit me when I was re-watching Sing 1 with my daughter yesterday. Powerful and truly feels like my anthem in recent times. To whoever's reading this, be encouraged and keep standing.
My grandfather is in his final moments after 90 years of one triumph after another, thank god for this song to help people look at the beautiful sides of a person and celebrate the fact that they were here and lived a good life thanks to them and them alone rather than crying for them not being here anymore. I couldn't think of anything left to achieve in life so, I had the coolest grandfather ever and he left me some pieces of him to keep. How lucky am I?

This song relates to me SO much! It makes me want to cry! It reminds me of how my Father will never be a true Father, and grow up, and stop doing drugs. And how I'm still standing.
