      I'm having the exact same problem this thing is total garbage when I compared the pH readings on my properly calibrated pH monitor which shows 8.2 then I check it with the Hanna Checker it shows 8.6 I dosed kalkwasser in my aquarium so having a proper accurate pH reading is very important don't waste your money on this people get yourself a proper pH Monitor and properly calibrated once a month what a waste of money this was

      Same experience here. I got this as a gift from my mom for Christmas. Man the only thing worse than wasting your own money is wasting your moms money. Buy a real pH meter.

    The spikes in the Ph might be due to the temperature in the tank. That’s why I believe at certain points during the day you get spikes. I was testing ph like this once and I tested a cold water sample the ph was one thing I randomly decided to test the same sample once the water was at room temperature and it was different. I looked up if temperature affects ph and indeed it does.

      If ur kh is below 3ppm your ph will swing high and low

    Good information. I will now check the PH the same time, most likely early afternoon.

    I just want to say I paused the videos, and everytime you filled that vial, you never lined up the water meniscus with the line provided. That means your readings are going to be inconsistent.

    Must be used their Reagent exclusively or you can use other Reagents in the market?

    Does anyone with a reef rank test pH? Just test dKH.

    • @rixon2000
      @rixon2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean it is a good sign to see if there's too much CO2 in the water inhibiting coral growth. I don't test much, just dKH, because I'm a lazy reefer. You can hardly have anything actionable due to it, maybe add your skimmer oxygen intake line to outside the house, or add more plants to your room, or maybe too many guests in the house.

      Everyone should test pH because the proper pH gives your Coral quicker Coral growth ideal 8.4 in the afternoon is ideal so yes pH is important

    First let me say this I have a couple of Hannah Checkers and I do like them I cannot say the same about this pH checker it's very inaccurate!!!!! I have a brand new pH Probe on my aquarium properly calibrated as a matter of fact I double checked with a second pH probe I get a 8.2 reading on my monitor consistently with both pH probes Hanna checker it shows 8.6 also it's blinking in my opinion do a Google search on this Hanna Checker and you will see lots of complaints about the same problem it wouldn't be a big deal if it was off By .1 but .4. That's ridiculous I expected a lot more accuracy I dose kalkwasser in my tank I need to have a accurate pH people if you want a accurate monitor get a probe and calibrate it once a month

      This pH Checker is total garbage I do not recommend it it's always off by 4 points and that is no good when you need an accurate reading Hannah get your act together please lots of people are complaining about this damn Hanna checker

    How many drop of reagent do you put

    • @dobermanguy9437

    • @dobermanguy9437
      @dobermanguy9437 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @phuture wow I never heard the four drops thing I have a Milwaukee instruments pH monitor in my tank I dose kalkwasser so I kind of want to monitor it I'm really disappointed in that Hanna pH monitor it always seems to read High I'm calibrate my Milwaukee monitor once a month and it always stays pretty consistent

    • @dobermanguy9437
      @dobermanguy9437 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @phuture I have the Milwaukee mc120 PH monitor it's awesome I'm very happy with it but I was not very happy with that pH monitor from Hannah it is always reading a little high now they say use 4 drops not 5 who is they. Regular hobbyist or Hannah don't get me wrong I like Hannah products I have the alkalinity tester and love it it's quick and pretty accurate but the little pH meter seems to always read a little on the high side and the thing is you cannot calibrate this pH meter it is what it is I'm very happy with my Milwaukee mc120 PH monitor I calibrate it once a month

  • @michaelolson8738

    You don't know how to use this instrument. The bottom of the meniscus should just touch the fill line. Also, you need to wipe off the vial with a cloth before inserting into the instrument to remove fingerprints.

    Totally useless product in my opinion why I will use this when I have one of those Hanna pens.

    • @scotty2salty327
      @scotty2salty327 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I kinda agree. No reason to chase PH around. Sometimes it's just nice to know the PH but I use my RedSea kit if I want accurate results and it's super easy.

    • @rixon2000
      @rixon2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I'm really trying pull for a reason to get it, you don't have to recalibrate the colorimeter, unlike those pens.

      Not only that this thing is inaccurate I bought one and I wish I never did it's off by four points a waste of money total garbage
