The middle eastern culture has the mentality that when the host provides a good variety of food, the host is generous and not stingy. That’s where Jennifer gets that mindset. She has very lavish taste, but I understand that one part of what she’s saying. Even our poorest people will serve their guests anything and everything they have as a sign of gratitude that they came and respect.
i come from a background that shares the same mindset when it comes to hosting and my mom definitely went all out with food whenever we had guests. but i don’t really care if the food at someone else’s party was takeout as long as it was edible and accommodated everyone’s tastes. if anything, something familiar gives me less anxiety because i tend to not like other people’s cooking and i don’t have to worry about looking rude if i don’t take something. it’s a KIDS party and kids are notoriously fussy eaters anyways. anything else besides pizza or kfc they wouldn’t have touched. the only time i might’ve had a problem with it was if the pizza had a million toppings besides cheese or pepperoni.

i come from a background that shares the same mindset when it comes to hosting and my mom definitely went all out with food whenever we had guests.

Her house is bulit from the ground up new, but if you pay attention to the deocr, she has no t an iota of style, discenment, or taste, and you can clearly see that (in her own words) her furniture comes from China. She also revelaed that she's frugal in real life and only wears $1 store makeup. So this act she's putting on about opulence and appearances is part bluff, part ignorance...or both...and Melissa is right, you don't create and keep generational wealth by spending everything in a single lifetime.

When it comes to Jackie she's very sensible when it comes to money she paid for her mom to have her hair done at a salon without fancy food, bubbles and flowers all that unnecessary jazz. It's her kid she can do what she wants. There's no rule saying if u have plenty money u spend it all.

I get what both are saying. I think they were too quick to say Jennifer was materialistic. What she said was correct. Why would you invite adults to your kids birthday party & only have pizza?
