Dad went work at Bevercotes in 1959. Stayed there until he retired in 1980, with a couple of breaks working at Ollerton. Last years he was pit bottom deputy. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 94. His name was Joe Checkley.
That’s me on the right at 0.45! A rather young fitter leaning on things as usual :-) I started in 84 through till 93 then 1 more year with Caledonians to salvage the equipment off the coal faces when it finally closed for good 😌
