ARR's most misjudged album. People love to bash 'Jai Ho' (which is a brilliant situational song to me) & don't care to listen O... Saaya, Latika's Theme, Mausam & Escape, Riots & eventually call it a poor album. To me, Slumdog is an incredible soundtrack & fully deserves to win Oscar ❤
Edit: Actually most of us judged 'Slumdog...' through bollywood's stereotype. There are lot of differences between a Bollywood 'Album' & Hollywood 'Soundtrack'. There will be themes, samples, intrumental pieces, motifs in a Hollywood Album. Whereas here in Indian film industry most of the film albums are based on 'Songs' sung by singers. We failed to digest beautiful, haunting pieces of 'Slumdog...', which is a shame!

The hate is mostly due to theme of the movie 😅😅
and bcoz it's a foreign production it is easier to bash... people forget that the story is by an Indian IFS officer

Jai Ho definitely had more impact globally as a Oscar winning song than Naatu Naatu (more to do with the choreography) and has stood the test of time and internationally recognised.
People forget that the Score also won Oscar along with the song and is a fantastic representation of Indian contemporary music exploring diverse genres of music... the fact that we remember the theme tracks speaks for itself❤❤❤

Goosebumps episode - about how a little boy from Kodambakkam made his mark around the world. And in the process, giving flight to innumerable dreams of an entire generation that followed.
Moment of the episode - “Everything is determined by forces over which we have no control. It is determined for the insect as well as for the star. Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust - we all dance to a mystery tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible piper. And it wouldn't be far fetched to say that the tune He plays will be that of AR Rahman." What a man! What a tribute!

Slumdog millionaire has a beautiful song named 'ringa ringa'. Its 1 of my favourite songs. Two leading voices plays sings it very rhythmic and melodic way. But i can't play it loud bcoz of its lyrics. But still its my favourite.

Speaking of choirs, Rahman's song Balleilakka (From the OST of Sivaji The Boss) also became very popular with choirs. You will find school after school performing it.

The likes and dislikes of an art is inversely proportional!
That's when the likes increase the dislikes would decrease!
And if the dislikes increase the likes would decrease!

Nobody knows who the invisible piper is, but the tune which he plays would be written by AR👍🫡

I don't know for some reason that yellowish color tinge given to the movie made me sick and pukish. There are some movies that stay with you forever and SM was definitely not the one I would like to cherish. Even now when I'm watching this episode I feel sick. I have seen better cinema than this.

I have rather an unpopular take on Slumdog Millionaire by Rahman. This is an album that marked the beginning of the end of Rahman's career. Actually, after Slumdog Millionaire, Rahman started dreaming of doing more music in Hollywood. And then there were drastic changes in the recording and arrangement of his musical compositions. It became more Hollywood friendly. Perhaps he might have thought that after winning the Oscar, the people of India would get to hear Hollywood type musical arrangements. But the Indian public did not like the Hollywood type of music arrangement. The result was that he got less work in the Indian film industry and unfortunately Hollywood also did not give him any substantial work. Gradually, over the course of a decade, Rahman's career came to an end. Now he is composing shitty music only for OTT films.

What are u talking bro Rockstar, Delhi 6, VTV, Raavanan, Enthiran, Maryan, Kadal, OKK, Tamasha, Mersal, Bigil, PS1 2... are all massive
.. so the work is still relevant, creative and celebrated... u can argue that he is not trending like before and advent of social media and OTT movies have certainly played some impact... I would put the onus on directors and producers who are not coming with more vibrant projects... For the record Slumdog Millionaire BGM was completed in 2 weeks ... how will that affect somebody's approach who had been relevant 2 decades before the Oscars and has been a decade after it 🤔 😳

I sometimes feel pity for people like this who lost their ability to listen and understand good music. This kind of less talented musicians who end of become janitor of studio instead of becoming a real musician they write this kind of shit
