Quite amazed by yesterday's episodes of Rebels by converging the Mortis storyline from Clone Wars with the Son, Daughter and the Father. Also seeing Sidious, Ahsoka returning to the story was beautiful. Palpatine performing some sort of mystical ritual "World between Worlds" was scary. Also hearing the voices of Yoda, Obi Wan Kenobi, Qui Gon was perfect.
Mimi The Yume When I finished the episode, I went back and turned the volume up so that I could hear all the little voice cameos that were made. I think I geeked out the most when I heard Chirrut, Kylo Ren and Leia.
Bruh, this ain't even close! Trials of the Darksaber, Fire Across the Galaxy, Twilight of the Apprentice, that's some real high-quality shindig there. Nothing from this season matches what's come before.
Sharil Shahed I don't hate REBELS. I never wanted to see any way where the rules of time could be broken. I hate that it is a testing ground and tries to make Ezra's journey even bigger than the main trilogies.
Also, lets bring up that Ezra saved Ahsoka, and the events in Twilight of the Apprentice happened as we saw them in _this_ episode, so Ezra _could not_ have saved Kanan, because when Kanan died, future Ezra didn't show up and yank him out of there. Ahsoka being saved didn't change or alter the events in the season 2 finale, but happened exactly as they had. It seems like this isn't a way to change fate, but rather, create and control fate.
It reminds me a lot of Harry Potter and Time Turners. It's basically a stable time loop, and you can't change the past unless you were always destined to change it (which I don't like in other stories, but with something as all binding as the Force, I'm OK with it here).
I don't think there is a portal everywhere, or even at every temple, The Coruscant temple might be an exception to the "Force Nexus" rule because of the events that took place there.
I think the portal is the mirror on the dark cave that Rey has been touch to find who she is. But Rey lacks of force understanding to open it so she only see a line of herself. This dimension maybe the backbone of Disney cannon and I hope that I can see it on SW9
I agree with the suggestion that the image of Kanaan was an illusion created by the Emperor to tempt Ezra. Good catch on the Sith Iconography. It does seem likely that the "World between Worlds" connects various Force Nexus's or temples, and the Sith Shrine from which Sidious acts is one of them.
so, we now have: -hyperspace-teleporting-force-powerful wolves -a world of time travel and sheevs - a temple turning into a superflat world from minecraft -another big nosed character -a moving ancient paining TV -spinning wolf portals (portal 3= spinning wolves confirmed?) -vader seeing ahsoka teleporting away from him using the glitch that we have in battlefront 2 -vader being killed by a floor -a name for the magic force wielding owl -a senate named sheev with an invisible flamethrower firing blue flames and a glowing blue string for ezra-fishing good. the show has finally met our expectations for moving painting TVs and wolf portals.
i missed one: again, vader tries to kill ahsoka and she just disappears (because she teleports, vader doesn't know that). just like kenobi. vader must hate these invisible jedi now.
When Ahsoka and Ezra were running from Palpatine, and Ezra was caught, I was really worried Ahsoka would sacrifice herself to save him. Thank god it didn’t happen, I don’t want her to die, especially not in a away like this.
Dima 0012 I was never worried. After seeing Ezra saving Ashoka I put everything together and realised she couldn’t have died, because she will always get pulled out in that moment when she’s about to die on Malachor and we knew from S2 that she walked down those stairs. It was a nice way of showing us that the show’s narrative is linked in an overarching manner.
Lol I was too I was hoping palpatine killed ezr a when he was firebending lmao I was like get him get him get him, ezr a got lucky not too many people survive an encounter with the emperor
I think that the Force Nexus theory for the time and space travel is good even with the death of Kanan : the Emperor said that the death of Kanan was a disturbance in the Force so the time and place where Kanan dies is accessible ;) Therefore I think that the gates open in places strong in the Force like Force Nexus (Jedi/Sith temples, maybe Coruscant, Morraband, Lothal, Dagobah, Malachor, Mustafar etc) but also in places that have suffered a disturbance in the Force (death of a Force wielder, death of millions like Alderaan etc)
Christopher Titus, Thing is, that if he did save Kanan, it means all other rebels, including Ezra, die, so Ezra cannot come and save Kanan, because he is dead, which means that Kanan dies either way. The same with Ahsoka. It is too complicated.
Christopher Titus that’s exactly y no one usually likes time travel cuz it gets on a quantum level of confusion and most of all ruin of the series but thank god Dave is in control he made it work
I am in awe. I was never moved so much while experiencing new Star Wars content before. Dave Filoni must be to storytelling what the Mortis Gods are to the Force. I had crazy shivers multiple times, hearing Kylo Ren in Rebels wasn't something I would ever think of. And all this was set up all along. Now I'm starting to wish the sequel trilogy was written like that. And I'm happy to see more of Ahsoka, now that she definitely and un-metaphorically lives!
I thought Minister Hydan was either Vanee or Yupe Tashu, one of the Emperors advisors. I thought that wouldve been a much more interesting choice since he was in the Aftermath novels and was a fanboy of the force.
I thought it was Vanee too. According to concept art, his model design is listed as Vanee but the decided to make him a different character in the end but still that same class of imperial advisors it seems.
Right! It wouldve made a really neat connection to the novels (since its all about connections these days for star wars) It couldve been him easily and Macolm McDowell doing the voice was awesome. But since the episode ended the way it did, I guess not. Just another rando bites the dust.
These two episodes had some of my favorite music from the series so far. I especially loved the strings when the heroes summoned and got ready to ride the wolves.
Please take note that it doesn't seem like you can actually CHANGE the past with this type of time travel. It's a closed loop, like in Harry Potter or Interstellar. Ahsoka never died. She was always saved by Ezra (who came from the future), but we just didn't know that until now.
It was just so well done, I'm glad that we now have a solid ending for Vader and Ahsoka's duel but at the same time, I wanna know where she was for two years. Although I have to say I think her knowing Kanan's death was one reason she didn't come back because she would've change time if she knew she could save him.
Wouldn't she just pop up somewhere, probably Lothal (once she leaves Malachor via its gateway), _after_ Kanan dies? She wouldn't have to wait anywhere for two years. Who knows, maybe she's already on Lothal and was just hiding and waiting for the events of these episodes to transpire.
It's possible that when Ahsoka returns, she does so in the "present". She never opens a portal, so perhaps by interfering, Ezra brings her into his time. It would at least explain why Ahsoka has been missing even after promising to find Ezra.
I don't think she has a way off Malachor. If I remember the ending of 'Twilight of the Apprentice' correctly, Ezra and Kanan got out in the Phantom, Maul took Vader's (or maybe it was one of the inquisitor's; I don't remember) tie fighter, and Vader probably called for someone in the Empire to come pick him up. I believe Maul had been trapped there for years without a ship, and since Ahsoka is now in the same position, that's probably where she spent the last 2 years, waiting out the time Ezra would realize she was still alive.
Possible, though there are at least 3 dead inquisitor ships up for grabs. Assuming Maul and Vader used those ships to escape, that would leave at least one more for Ahsoka. Although my best guess is that somewhere down the line, Dr. Aphra or some other new EU character will pick her up and continue things in a different medium.
Malachor is some type of "force planet" too just like Lothal and Ach-to. It probably has its own gateway that Maul wouldn't have known about but she may be able to unlock after Ezra explained what happened. We did nee all that trippy artwork with her walking through some stream and stepping into a wolf ring...
The High Ground the fact that it's in legends is super cool. It means that more stories from legends could be taken and used. They're super interesting. I don't understand why some star wars fans don't like interesting topics. What would you rather have?
"Ezra saves Ahsoka" Me: ALLRIGHT EZRA!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!...while you are at it can you also save Mace Windu and a bunch of other people that you dont know ?
I don't think it's so much time travel as it is "affecting certain moments in the Force" type of thing. Like, I don't think you can just go through a portal to a time when you were a kid or something like that. It's more like you can peer into certain important Force moments that appear in almost looping gif format. If the Force wills it, you can affect those short moments. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the same thing that happens when Rey touches Luke's saber the first time.
People assume that _Star Wars_ has a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's now more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.
So does this explain how the emperor has the power of foresight? Meaning does he pear into this world to see the future? But he can only look, not actually enter? I think these questions are worth a video all its own. By the way great video.
it's an interesting idea to consider. However the Sith are capable of seeing the future. I personally believe that the Jedi are more adept at it due to the light side being what it is and the Jedi's propensity to meditate when they can. In the legends book Darth Pleguies, Pleguies would experience intense visions of the future and spent time looking into the future when he could.
ComiCop that has *everything* to do with the world between worlds. The world is a *manifestation* of how the Force exists outside of space and time. Rey's vision in TFA took her to different places and different times. This world is the bridge that connects those different places and times. It's just that the bridge itself is extremely difficult to access.
I never expect time travel to become an important plot device in the Star Wars universe but here it is! Truthfully, Luke's Force Projection and Leia's space scene from TLJ are nothing compared to what Dave Filoni has introduced in 'A World Between Worlds', considering its implications on the entire saga are too massive to swallow. Since this stuff is now canon, it could potentially influence and change the way we see the live-action movies, most especially the sequel trilogy (despite the fact that the door has been shut, there are possibly other ways to reenter the portals).
I hope it won't be implemented into anything else, it just creates a huge mess. To me it feels like the plot of these 2 episodes completely revolved around Ahsoka coming "back", I am really disappointed.
I love how years later we still have no damn clue what happened after ahsoka went back to Malachor . Was she stuck there until post rotj ? Did she find a ship but just not help the rebellion for the rest of the war ?
Great episodes. This half of the season is awesome. I have just one little problem with the last episode. Her name is Ahsoka, not Ashoka. Get it right, Sidious !
treu , trying to change the past only results in paradoxes. Ezra saves Kanan-> Ezra , Hera and Sabine die which means Ezra should dissapear and without Ezra to save Kanan -> Kanan dies as well. So changing the past is bad news and I'm glad they didn't do it.
I have to say, even before I see the episode reviews that this two episodes, and specially the second one, had me having shivers all the way through. The lines from the movies, from Star Wars The Clone Wars and even from this same show, from the past and from the future just killed it. And seeing how and why Ahsoka was shown going down the steps deeper into the temple... seeing Kanan die again and having Ezra learn that final lesson and having to let him go... before even all that, the painting of the Mortis Gods and the knowledge that they had found several depictions of them in the Jedi Archives... or Ahsoka confirming that the bird had been the Daughter all along, as many speculated... Awesome episodes. I'm so happy with how these finale is shaping to be and with how they are not being afraid of going weird (as you put it Star Wars Explained). Just great.
It's most likely going to be a series between the OT and ST. we could even have characters like Hera back as the main characters again. "star wars: resistance" was recently trademarked and there were a few job postings for lucasfilm animation like 2 months ago. Filoni also said that the next series will be announced very soon.
Timothy Chadd And even though there isn't going to be celebration this year it'll probably happen around the time it would happen. Probably after the release of Solo
Two thing stick out to me regarding these episodes: 1) Ahsoka still has no way off Malachor, so that maybe why she's not around, though someone could send her help. Something to address in the future i guess. 2) Palpatine now knows that Ahsoka survived, so he may just send Vader to finish the job Still these were interesting episodes, i especially liked the painting coming to life. Having time travel will always be a pooit of concern to me in stories (looking at you Kingdom Hearts) but I share your sentiments, as long as they don't go overboard or too weird/confusing with it, I'll be ok with.
Kinda what I meant, so long as Ahsoka hasn't found way off Malachor in the prevailing two year, they could go back to make sure she's dead. Sorry if I mislead.
in Filoni's artwork or the episode? I usually prefer seeing that in the show itself before I make judgements, but I can see what you mean. Though I suppose the bigger question would be where does she go (especially if the Lothal Temple portal truely can't be reopened)?
Sam.E.A it is a nexus of the force that exists outside the “normal” barriers and concepts of time and space. While altering time seems to be available to those who have found this place, that doesnt make it time travel
FuckItUpPigface Yo,no one in the worlds between worlds can alter time, they can only alter the events that happened in certain periods of time. And I'm Pretty sure it's time travel when Ahsoka from Season 2 met with Ezra from(Season 4),I'm pretty sure that's time travel. Heck,if Ahsoka were to step out of the portal Ezra came in,she would be in Lothal with the current timeline. So I think it's safe to say it is time travel
Muhd Imran you said it yourself that they can only alter specific points in time. And in season 2 we see ahsoka walk into the temple on malachore. She survived. Ezra pulling her in was destiny or at the very least always supposed to happen. Thats not time travel.
FuckItUpPigface Although time travel wasn't explicitly done in these episodes,it's hinted that the world between worlds can allow such things to happen,if it is the will of the force of course. Ezra was able to extend his hand from the world between worlds and into the time period of the duel, saving Ahsoka's life. This means that if Ezra were to take a step forward,he would be with Ahsoka and Vader in season 2. So,if the force wills it to be,someone may actually time travel.
I was blown away by that transient place within the Force, especially the voices ghosting in and out. On that note, thanks for the other video where you put a face to each voice. In a sense, this episode has become the Nexus of it's own for all of Star Wars canon.
Probably something like that : "This show is a mess that shoud have ended 2 seaons ago !!!!" "Clone Wars was better :'''''(" "Still beter than TLJ LOLOLOLO/L.OOLOLOL"
I don't think I qualify as a "Rebels hater" but I've always found it to be one (or two) step down from TCW. Now, with that being said, these last four episodes have been amazing.
This was some of the best, if not the best rebels content thus far. The mortis stuff was so good, happy to see that they are connecting the animated shows. So excited for the finale
Marc Magma that's a good point... because she doesn't return ....we would have seen her with the rebels... Because she goes back to her moment in time on mortis
I was pretty worried when the minister said that the world between worlds existed outside of regular time and space. When I heard it, I thought "Oh, boy. Dave Filoni just opened up the biggest can of worms in Star Wars since essence transfer became a thing." But, i believe it was handled really well. It reminded me a lot of time hollows from the Missing book series by Margaret Peterson Haddix. They're really useful, but they're also extremely difficult to use effectively. If you've read those books, then you know that there are plenty of times where the characters think they know how the time hollows and time travel in general works, but then they end up screwing themselves with their own ignorance.
Am i the only one who would have preferred Ahsoka to have stayed dead? Her ending with Vader was such a great and touching scene at the end of season 2, but it looks like the writers can't bring themselves to let go of the character. Which is ironic, given the main message of this ep. Edit: Look, I don't have any problem with the idea of Ahsoka surviving. If it was done well i'd be ok with it. But i feel like this ep completely undermines the ending of season 2. Whenever i go and rewatch that episode, it isn't going to be emotional at all, knowing that Ahsoka is just going to get pulled into a portal. And like Alex said, this means that there's another Force user running around pre-ANH. Not only that, so Vader just saw someone pull Ahsoka into a portal, and didn't bother to investigate further? Like i alr said, it's super ironic how the message of this ep is that Ezra has to let go of Kanan and accept his death, but the writers cannot leave Ahsoka dead and have to bring her back. If i wrote this ep, I'd have Ahsoka go back into the portal, back to the exact moment in the duel with Vader. She accepts her death the same way Kanan did; and becomes one with the Force too. I'm as big an Ahsoka fan as the rest of you. I mean, i changed my profile pic after Season 2 because i was so touched and moved by the conclusion to her story, how beautifully poetic it was to go out trying to save her master, and how even though she failed her actions impacted Vader immensely. Now this profile pic of mine has a whole lot less meaning since Ahsoka was saved by a magic time travel portal.
BattleUp Saber i kinda disagree, i feel that ahsoka at this point has grown beyond her position as 'apprentice to anakin' as a character, and has 'earned' to get an end that is not defined by her relationship to vader/anakin. But that's just me.
BattleUp Saber I mean I myself would prefer Kanan Jarrus to survive too. But If Ahsoka stayed dead, Just imagine the backlash that Dave Filoni might possibly get.... And look... I love Ahsoka Tano too, but I'm sorry she needs to go and Kanan needs to stay alive. I'm slowly getting tired of the "accepting one's fate because of the will of the force" Trope. To top it all off, Why have time travel now when everything has aldy been played out in previous films, TFA, Rogue One AND TLJ???
BattleUp Saber as much as I love her, I wanted Vader to straight up skewer her. it would have been so impactful. I wish we saw the full fight and he just killed her. inhave a feeling that they will use this in EP 9
Seeing Ashoka vs Vader brought chills. But look carefully, Ashoka saves Vader by striking the floor before explosion so he falls and Ezra pulls her out just in time before Vader can strike her before Vader falls.
Losing Kanan was such a shock to me but seeing now that Ahsoka is ALIVE made it all that much better. I particularly liked it when Ezra kept hearing all the familiar voices from all the movies. Such a treat to hear a familiarity of epic movie lines. Ian reprising his role as the emperor was a classic treat. So sad to see Star Wars Rebels coming to its series finale. Love the Mortiss mural which definitely brought back a sense of Clone Wars nostalgia. All in all great episodes.
One of the best Rebels episodes, can't wait for the finale.. Also it's been theorized that Ashoka tried to save Vader from the blast... we can see that one of the portals has Fathiers so we can clearly say that this articular portal leads to canto bight (DJ is Ezra xD). Sad to see Inspector Hyden die, I think he had a lot of potential...
Ahsoka doesn't say that the Wolf is Kanan, but rather that the Wolf is a way for Kanan to communicate with Ezra. It makes sense since Ezra has always been connected to animals. Your channel is one of the most trusted Star Wars channels keep up the good work.
I liked this episode a lot, but it seems a bit concerning that the emperor was close to opening a portal to the world that he could use (in the episode he can influence the world with his force magic already) so why didnt he use that in the following 30/40 years of his reign? And also if he s so close to using it, he could alter the future and or past.
I wish I could thumbs up this video more than once. What an amazing show and great job with your first review. I didn’t think of the Emperor using that portal to lure Ezra but that makes total sense. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to each day.
Just because characters weren’t in The Original Trilogy doesn’t mean they have to Die before it. At least Ahsoka anyway. You forget Star Wars Explained. Ahsoka is NOT a Jedi. She’s a Neutral Force User. She doesn’t count as a “Problem”. In fact, none of them count as a “Problem”. If Ahsoka is still Alive by the events of The Original Trilogy she could simply be on another planet, in another Galaxy, and that is what you Star Wars Fans need to learn. 🙄 Ahsoka could at least Live beyond Rebels.
True Star Wars Fan I don't think Star Wars explained is saying she needs to die she just can't be in the Rebellion when Luke is in the Rebellion... Because if Luke knew that there was an Force user in the Rebellion , he would want to seek them out and find out what they knew, instead of following a premonition of Obi-Wan telling him to go to go to Dagobah
These were batshit crazy, Ezra (and Ashoka aswell) went through so much, very few Jedi have (except the Mortis episodes, but minds wiped so...), Palps is really powerful, had he gone through the portal it would've been catastrophic. As always Loth wolves are insanely poetic, the whole arc had strong feels. True art Filoni, true art !
Her "death scene" in the original Twilight of the Apprentice episode from the end of Season 2 was the perfect way to kill her off and end her character arc. All of "The One's" from the Mortis arc of The Clone Wars are dead, except for the essence of "the Daughter" that lives in Ahsoka. Therefore, as long as she lives, the Force is not in balance. She must die, and it must be by Vader's own hand. Only Vader can be the one to kill her, as he wasn't just her master, friend, and instructor; but as the Chosen One - he literally brought her back from the dead. It's only fitting that as Vader he take her life away. For an episode that's apparently all about learning to let go and accepting that Kanan is dead, Dave Filoni seems to have a really hard time letting go of Ahsoka. What pisses me off is that Filoni pretty much confirmed in an interview that he had set up this whole double-episode of Rebels and the world between worlds just to bring her back, but he doesn't even know what to do with her. Now this pretty much means her attempted self-sacrifice doesn't mean anything, Maul taunting her for "running away again" and her declaration to not leave Vader "this time" doesn't mean anything, and Vader's chilling words expressing his desire to kill her doesn't mean anything. Because now, the consequences are all gone.
I don't know why so many people wanted ahsoka to be still alive so badly, I just wanted a revelation about her fate after the season 2 finale. But this? It's like the entire plot of these 2 episodes revolves around Ahsoka coming "back", it made these 2 a total mess, for me they are 2 of the worst episodes of rebels.
Well, see here. Thats too predictable, thats why youre not in charge of the story telling. Vader kills Obi Wan, his master, and now you want Vader to kill Ahsoka his apprentice. Thats so cliche in a way, and not really a good way to end her story arc.
This season is just moving me to tears. Ezra saying goodbye to Dume was as bittersweet and heartbreaking as Woody saying goodbye to Andy. "So long, partner"
I do not think time travel has a place in star wars. There should NOT be multiple timdlines! The story of the Galaxy must not be changed or else all stakes will go away. It would have been much more impact full if when Ezra siad "come back to lothal" Asoka siad "Im not coming back" and disappeared reveling it was all just a vision to teach Ezra. This line would also call back to the clone wars
Tommy Burda I don't think it's like that, we can't change anything, there are no multiple timelines, these portals just link to important moments and destiny has already been written, Ezra was always destined to save ashoka I don't think your view pertains to this situation
I agree it would be worrying if you could actually change the past, but that's doesn't seem to be the case here. There seems to be a stable time loop, and Ezra was always meant to save Ahsoka. Think of Time Turners in Harry Potter, Harry was always in the past to save himself and his friends. While this is certainly something new, we know from the past the Mortis gods existed outside of time, and that the Jedi have always had the power to see into the future. With something as cosmic and universally binding as the Force, I don't see it being too far fetched that Ezra was to save Ahsoka in the past as an extension of the will of the Force.
I'm not saying they do or don't exist. I just would have preferred it not to happen in Star Wars. If the portals have been there all along, why haven't they used them earlier. Just seems like away to undercut the OT, IMO
1993DJC No one can change anything in time travel because it doesn't really exist. Now in movies & cartoons where it does, when time is ever traveled and things do and can get changed. It always effects the future and even the present in some ways. Erza stopped Ahsoka from being killed, that's how it looked to me. He was about to do the same for Kanan but Ahsoka stopped him because it would have ruined Kanan giving up his life for the team. If Vader let's Ahsoka and Erza live, it lessons Vader's Legend he is an enforcer and a Jedi killer/force user killer.
I agree. What do you guys think about these 2 episodes? IMO they were a complete mess, Ezra is still this empty character who acts however the plot needs him to act.
I know it's in the name. But thank you for being my explainer. I love when my theory is confirmed by someone who knows way more details than I do. Thanks for being awesome
I would assume you could enter the "world between worlds" by a Jedi or Sith temple. Such as the temple on Lothal, Malikor and Corassant. That is why each portal has its own symbol, representing each temple. The temple for Lothal has wolves on it, the Malikor temple has the triangle on it, and that temple on Corassant, like you said, has the Sith symbol on it. So I am guessing you could access anywhere from the "world between worlds", but to get to the "world between worlds" you might have to enter a Jedi or Sith temple, and only force users could open it. I would think this was a creation from the Mortis gods to keep balance in the force. Coincidence? I think not.
This was seriously the BEST episode EVER. Literally, me and my dad thought they changed the universe, but no! It literally showed Ahsoka go into the Temple, just like in the season 2 finale.
It's just a jump to the left. And then a step to the right. With your hands on your hipsYou bring you knees in tight. But it's the pelvic thrust...That really drives you insaneLet's do the Time Warp again!Let's do the Time Warp again!!
Ahsoka's short line about how neither of them can save their master made me remember how much they have in common. They are padawans from the two animated shows. They are probably the closest any of the characters come to being main characters of their respective shows. And here they are together near the end. I just really like that idea of not just Rebels but even Clone Wars all coming together.
This episode was AWESOME! Thank you for that bit about Palpatine using illusion to show Ezra Kanan, that was bothering me, but now I retroactively love that scene even more. Also, about why Palpatine didn't just come through into the World Between Worlds, I think the episode showed us that only the Light Side can open portals, the Dark Side can merely close them. Perhaps Palpatine, being totally incapable of using the Light Side, knew that if he physically stepped into the World Between Worlds, he'd be reliant on Ahsoka or Ezra to let him back out again.
The imperial base also reminded me of the Devil's Tower base in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" especially with some of the easter eggs lines thrown in.
In the image of Ezra walking alone on Lothal near the end of the video (8:42), the clouds form to make the shape of a wolf. You can see it in the top left corner of the image
QUESTION FOR Q&A: Since you said that you think Kylo won't survive I think that it should be Hux to kill him. A bit like Thrawn being killed by his bodyguard or Saruman being killed by Grima. Can you see that happening or even a final like Carlito's Way with Kylo dying in the arms of Rey?
Damn I though I was just high on death sticks but that was the actual episode
Obi-Wan Kenobi so you made him give you all the death sticks.
Obi-Wan Kenobi might want 2 go home and rethink ur Life MtfbwU always.👍
Obi-Wan Kenobi but Vader has the high ground how did Ashoka live as obi wan i know you can tell me
i want to go home and rethink my life...
I wish I was high on death-sticks especially for next week Monday
Quite amazed by yesterday's episodes of Rebels by converging the Mortis storyline from Clone Wars with the Son, Daughter and the Father. Also seeing Sidious, Ahsoka returning to the story was beautiful. Palpatine performing some sort of mystical ritual "World between Worlds" was scary. Also hearing the voices of Yoda, Obi Wan Kenobi, Qui Gon was perfect.
Also Maz Kanata
Sidious did Sith ritual in Clone Wars S6 final arc with Douku to Yoda.
You also here Leia too
You hear Kylo, Rey, Leia, Kenobi, Yoda, Qui Gon, Kanaan, Mon Mothma.
Mimi The Yume When I finished the episode, I went back and turned the volume up so that I could hear all the little voice cameos that were made. I think I geeked out the most when I heard Chirrut, Kylo Ren and Leia.
These two episodes were some of the best Rebels has ever put out. Amazing two episodes.
With all the respect. They were two of the worsts.
Alex Jadiel Maldonado How were they the worst
Alex Jadiel Maldonado with all due respect, you are a Rebel hater.
I hate that it is a testing ground and tries to make Ezra's journey even bigger than the main trilogies.
wait.... if luke finds a door like that, then he can save biggs!
#BiggsIsSnokeConfirmed!!!!!
super jedi player Well then he may as well save Porkins also.
Maybe Luke saved Dooku to try to bring him back to the light, but then Dooku became Snoke!
xD
Crazy
You mean hypotheses. Hypotheses don't become theories until weight of *evidence* suggests they are true.
It seems like this isn't a way to change fate, but rather, create and control fate.
very true
That is true , you have to remember nothing changes , they all just get explained more thoroughly
TheLoser26 Beautifully put.
It reminds me a lot of Harry Potter and Time Turners. It's basically a stable time loop, and you can't change the past unless you were always destined to change it (which I don't like in other stories, but with something as all binding as the Force, I'm OK with it here).
Justafan IV That’s exactly how it is.
"and then they teleported on the wolves"
I love Star Wars.

These 2 episodes were freaking AMAZING. It was incredible hearing all those different lines again. Cant wait for series finale.
I guarantee one of those portals leads to Ach-To as well.
Ahch-to, Malachor, Dagobah, Moraband... Anywhere there's a temple, there's probably a portal.
Ilum
I don't think there is a portal everywhere, or even at every temple, The Coruscant temple might be an exception to the "Force Nexus" rule because of the events that took place there.
I think the portal is the mirror on the dark cave that Rey has been touch to find who she is. But Rey lacks of force understanding to open it so she only see a line of herself.
This dimension maybe the backbone of Disney cannon and I hope that I can see it on SW9
Is there one to a non Disney Starwars where the EU still exists as part of official canon?? That would be tremendous.. (Sarcastic evil laugh)
I agree with the suggestion that the image of Kanaan was an illusion created by the Emperor to tempt Ezra. Good catch on the Sith Iconography. It does seem likely that the "World between Worlds" connects various Force Nexus's or temples, and the Sith Shrine from which Sidious acts is one of them.
so, we now have:
-hyperspace-teleporting-force-powerful wolves
-a world of time travel and sheevs
- a temple turning into a superflat world from minecraft
-another big nosed character
-a moving ancient paining TV
-spinning wolf portals (portal 3= spinning wolves confirmed?)
-vader seeing ahsoka teleporting away from him using the glitch that we have in battlefront 2
-vader being killed by a floor
-a name for the magic force wielding owl
-a senate named sheev with an invisible flamethrower firing blue flames and a glowing blue string for ezra-fishing
good. the show has finally met our expectations for moving painting TVs and wolf portals.
Very funny comment. I agree with you.
super jedi player Lol. Funny observations.
super jedi player Do you want to say their wasn’t a lot of crap from Clone Wars too? This sort of list also came when people found out about Ahsoka
i missed one: again, vader tries to kill ahsoka and she just disappears (because she teleports, vader doesn't know that). just like kenobi. vader must hate these invisible jedi now.
There was actually a moving painting tv all the way back in the original clone wars from 2003. Or was it 04? I don’t remember. Whatever.
The World Between Worlds really gave me Interstellar vibes.
It really reminded me of Antichamber, not only because it is so strange and place and time mean nothing there, but also in terms of design.
Sam Lee what confusing and freaky whilst also amazing
same lol
It gave me the Stargate vibes. It was a compilation of ideas from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Stargate & Lara Croft Tomb Raider.
Nexus from Star Trek
Ezra is now the Doctor Strange of Star Wars. Going back in time through magic circles to save people.
so the Emperor was Dorammamu?
Sharil Shahed No, he's the senate.
I feel more Doctor Who
Now he has to drop Vader through a hole for half an hour.
Shadow Dragon God you wanted both ezr and ahska ded in the same episode? Cause both had equal risks of dying from where they were at.
Dima 0012 shes not phasma, shes not going to be brought back just to be killed immediately
I think that the Force Nexus theory for the time and space travel is good even with the death of Kanan : the Emperor said that the death of Kanan was a disturbance in the Force so the time and place where Kanan dies is accessible ;) Therefore I think that the gates open in places strong in the Force like
Force Nexus (Jedi/Sith temples, maybe Coruscant, Morraband, Lothal, Dagobah, Malachor, Mustafar etc) but also in places that have suffered a disturbance in the Force (death of a Force wielder, death of millions like Alderaan etc)
Remember that with time travel, the events that occur have always occurred. Ezra always saves Ahsoka and never saves Kanan.
Christopher Titus, Thing is, that if he did save Kanan, it means all other rebels, including Ezra, die, so Ezra cannot come and save Kanan, because he is dead, which means that Kanan dies either way. The same with Ahsoka. It is too complicated.
Флоріан Фанта Plus it is possible that was trap laid by the emperor to catch ezra
I like this take on time travel. It matches up with Hermione's Time Turner in the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Jose Martin Roxas It probably was considering Palpatine done similar stuff before. Like what he and Dooku did to Yoda in the clone wars.
Well, he seems to have died at the end, so no he can't be neither of those two.
obviously.... it was an initial reaction when he was on screen for the first time.
I was hoping he was Yupe Tashu during the episode. That would have been awesome!
Ok I screamed when Ezra grabbed Ashoka.
xbaumann thats why the temple collapsed
they should have killed her cuz know there going to be some many plot holes with time travel it's not funny
Raymel peoples it's in legends and it's a really cool concept.
Azizai _ the fact that its in legends is the thing that worries ne
The High Ground the fact that it's in legends is super cool. It means that more stories from legends could be taken and used. They're super interesting. I don't understand why some star wars fans don't like interesting topics. What would you rather have?
"Ezra saves Ahsoka"
Me: ALLRIGHT EZRA!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!...while you are at it can you also save Mace Windu and a bunch of other people that you dont know ?
if ezra moved anakin out of the way, could mace kill the senate and then would that stop master sandwalker from becoming darth no-legs-or-arms vader?
Maybe he could save our lord and saviour , Ki-Adi Mundi
Tankdavid7 nah, he couldn't even block blaster bolts, he's more useful dead than alive.
Yeah, Maybe Moments in the force that are important, such as When Rey touches the Lightsaber, Luke vs Vader, Order 66 and thinks like that.
Never thought I could quote this for star wars but... "Space is warped and time is bendable!" ;-)
I think it's a mix of the Emperors incredible force power, intellect and a bit of this, although not too much
Tom 3545 Force users can have visions to the future like Anakin did in ROTS.
The force exists outside of time and space; it's energy. That's how force wielders can see the future, nothing to do with this world between worlds.
it's an interesting idea to consider.
"Where we see Vader leaving, and he must be confused as hell" Best line ever. 10/10.
Since this stuff is now canon, it could potentially influence and change the way we see the live-action movies, most especially the sequel trilogy (despite the fact that the door has been shut, there are possibly other ways to reenter the portals).
i think that the Time travel thing can't be put into a live action film, as too many people won't get what it is.
Abrams did say that 9 will tie all trilogies together.....
I hope it won't be implemented into anything else, it just creates a huge mess. To me it feels like the plot of these 2 episodes completely revolved around Ahsoka coming "back", I am really disappointed.
"Where'd they go? Space?"
"Into the space between spaces."
It was so awesome to hear Yoda, Jyn, Obi-Wan, Vader, Rey and Kylo!
Maz, Poe and chrriut as well.
Vader: How am I going to explain this to the Emperor?
And there was me thinking that Star Wars would never have time travel. If they keep it small and extremely uncommon, then I'm OK with it.
Yeah. I mean right now there isn't even the option of using it anymore until someone finds another portal.
Great episodes
When Ezra pulled Asoka through the portal I went WTF!!!
Filoni. So hot right now. Filoni.
He knows there is more to life than being really really good looking.
I love how they connected everything together with the world between worlds. It was so well done. Love your channel x
The time travel looks like you cant alter the past. Seems like any thing you do to change the past as in fact all ready happened
treu , trying to change the past only results in paradoxes.
Just great.
I'm not ready for this to end
Trashlord Unikitten I am cause the next series could old republic
Trashlord Unikitten Me neither.
Sir Squirrel
True but there's no evidence to support that so don't get your hopes up.
It's most likely going to be a series between the OT and ST. we could even have characters like Hera back as the main characters again.
"star wars: resistance" was recently trademarked and there were a few job postings for lucasfilm animation like 2 months ago. Filoni also said that the next series will be announced very soon.
Timothy Chadd
And even though there isn't going to be celebration this year it'll probably happen around the time it would happen. Probably after the release of Solo
The way they give us the explanation of time travel was prefect!! Love how the force is so much bigger than we think
These episodes were mind blowing
Yo. The animation in the last few scenes of this episode were... like... unreal. So beautiful.
Two thing stick out to me regarding these episodes:
1) Ahsoka still has no way off Malachor, so that maybe why she's not around, though someone could send her help. Something to address in the future i guess.
2) Palpatine now knows that Ahsoka survived, so he may just send Vader to finish the job
Still these were interesting episodes, i especially liked the painting coming to life. Having time travel will always be a pooit of concern to me in stories (looking at you Kingdom Hearts) but I share your sentiments, as long as they don't go overboard or too weird/confusing with it, I'll be ok with.
HeadBod you have to remember that future Palpatine knows she survived ....Palpatine back in season 2 doesn't know that
Kinda what I meant, so long as Ahsoka hasn't found way off Malachor in the prevailing two year, they could go back to make sure she's dead.
Sorry if I mislead.
it was shown that Ahsoka found a portal underneath Malachor such as the one Ezra went through. That solved her off the planet issue i suppose.
in Filoni's artwork or the episode? I usually prefer seeing that in the show itself before I make judgements, but I can see what you mean. Though I suppose the bigger question would be where does she go (especially if the Lothal Temple portal truely can't be reopened)?
I think that ashoka couldve gotten back to malachor during the present and not season 2
THE TRIFORCE!!
A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS!!1
These episodes were LIT
I loved the expressions on the mural of The Son, brings back those nightmarish wails of his
Filoni, the true successor for LucasArts.....
I love these pair of episodes how Dave manage to make time travel not only possible but accepted in the star wars community is just brilliant
Time Lord of the sith 😅 I kinda predicted this with my alternate videos. .. lolz
Darth Sidious lolz 😅
Xd... omg
Bro, I love your alternate endings!
Alex-
well spotted with Sith portal m8, I totally missed that & love your theory of Sidious tempting Ezra, blew my mind.
Everyone keeps saying time travel but this is not time travel
FuckItUpPigface what is it then?
Sam.E.A it is a nexus of the force that exists outside the “normal” barriers and concepts of time and space. While altering time seems to be available to those who have found this place, that doesnt make it time travel
FuckItUpPigface
Yo,no one in the worlds between worlds can alter time, they can only alter the events that happened in certain periods of time.
FuckItUpPigface
Although time travel wasn't explicitly done in these episodes,it's hinted that the world between worlds can allow such things to happen,if it is the will of the force of course.
I wonder what all the Rebels haters are going to say about these amazing bombshells of episodes
Probably something like that :
"This show is a mess that shoud have ended 2 seaons ago !!!!"
"Clone Wars was better :'''''("
"Still beter than TLJ LOLOLOLO/L.OOLOLOL"
I don't think I qualify as a "Rebels hater" but I've always found it to be one (or two) step down from TCW. Now, with that being said, these last four episodes have been amazing.
This was some of the best, if not the best rebels content thus far. The mortis stuff was so good, happy to see that they are connecting the animated shows. So excited for the finale
Who said Ahsoka would return to the Rebellion?
Marc Magma that's a good point... because she doesn't return ....we would have seen her with the rebels... Because she goes back to her moment in time on mortis
Well she did promise to meet back up with Ezra at some point
Jason Lewis that's if ezera is still with the rebels when she does...or she meets back up with him but goes somewhere else after
I was pretty worried when the minister said that the world between worlds existed outside of regular time and space.
Totally agreed!
BattleUp Saber as much as I love her, I wanted Vader to straight up skewer her. it would have been so impactful. I wish we saw the full fight and he just killed her. inhave a feeling that they will use this in EP 9
Filoni cant let go of her, even though it would be the best decision for the character.
Seeing Ashoka vs Vader brought chills. But look carefully, Ashoka saves Vader by striking the floor before explosion so he falls and Ezra pulls her out just in time before Vader can strike her before Vader falls.
eurosensazion kinda fucked up, she saw the explosion even vader saw it and she saves him but he tries to strike her.
First
Order
anton laatikainen second
Sister
First order sucks
Clearly, Sheev lit the fire that will burn the First Order down in this episode.
1993DJC Well even so he should have used it but whatever
I cannot stop screaming about these episodes... like.... so... many... feelings and easter eggs and Ahsoka! Ahsoka LIVES! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!
Kinda wish Palpatine won and killed off Ezra and Ahsoka
Kevin Adkins i have a strong feeling Ahsoka leaves and returns after the events of the original trilogy, and meets Luke.
Kevin Adkins my guess is that Ahsoka (and perhaps Ezra) go on a quest to seal any gateways to The World Between Worlds.
Nah Ahsoka is toast in the finale lol
Well they introduced characters like Maz who is a force user that’s been round a thousand years or whatever.
For an episode that's apparently all about learning to let go and accepting that Kanan is dead,
Dave Filoni seems to have a really hard time letting go of Ahsoka.
Mitchell Hayward I think Dave Filoni likes Ahsoka more than Kanan. But that's just me
ahsoka LIVES and kanan dies
I don't necessarily want to kill her, just don't bring her back in this way.
They went with single lines this time and luckily everything worked out , without having to create multiple timelines.
Tommy Burda I don't think it's like that, we can't change anything, there are no multiple timelines, these portals just link to important moments and destiny has already been written, Ezra was always destined to save ashoka I don't think your view pertains to this situation
Time travel has always been part of the Star Wars universe. In cannon AND legends
Oliver Vazquez Huh? When has it been a part of canon?
Legends doesn’t count most of it sucks ass, including this concept.
Thank you for pointing out the Sith iconography. You said exactly what I was thinking but haven’t seen many people mention so far.
Time travel = problem in Star Wars, why not just go back in time and change every event until you get the perfect universe.
Because time travel paradoxes exists
I'm not saying they do or don't exist. I just would have preferred it not to happen in Star Wars. If the portals have been there all along, why haven't they used them earlier. Just seems like away to undercut the OT, IMO
It feels like it was all set in place only to have Ahsoka come "back", I'm really disappointed by these 2 episodes.
I agree with on that too!
That scene in the end was so beautiful!
I’m glad this series is ending
Lucas King it should have ended two seasons ago
I agree. What do you guys think about these 2 episodes? IMO they were a complete mess, Ezra is still this empty character who acts however the plot needs him to act.
In my opinion still waaaay better than TLJ tho...
Didn't watch TLJ, probably won't.
Well after this the next animated series will probs be rebels again or sequel trilogy
I think not.
yooo that analysis of Palpatine's trap was straight on Alex. nice going
Dave Filoni you damn legend. He has set this episode up since he posted those art pictures of Ahsoka and he did it so damn well.
This was seriously the BEST episode EVER. Literally, me and my dad thought they changed the universe, but no! It literally showed Ahsoka go into the Temple, just like in the season 2 finale.
Very good episodes. Dan has done a great job wrapping this series up.
I really liked hearing all the quotes from the films and shows while inside the world between worlds.
Thank you for the analysis on this place. This is my favorite part of new canon along with the force projection.
The moving painting scenes gave me chills
Seriously been waiting all morning for this video!
In the image of Ezra walking alone on Lothal near the end of the video (8:42), the clouds form to make the shape of a wolf. You can see it in the top left corner of the image
Talking about how Sheev got in, I think he was following Ezra's mind, hence why he came from the portal with Kanan
When i saw ezra saving ahsoka i think i was crazy. Was a perfect episode, beautiful and amazing.
I wish there was a sound bite of a clone saying "eat laser clanker" when Ezra was walking through there
yoda was in this realm when he talked to ezra in the temple ,so did he knows what happened about ezra , ahsoka and palpatine's involve ?
When I saw Ahsoka through the portal I was like "F*CK YEAH, YOU WERE RIGHT, SHE LIVED!!!"
I noticed that the design of all the portals are a reference to the characters. Pretty awesome stuff.
Rebels just introduced time travel and I am not even complaining! AHSOKA LIVES!
