Tekken being the only fighter I’ve played heavily, I recommend the d-pad! It is much easier for learning backdashes to create space for whiff punishes and as far as quarter circle attacks, it just takes a little muscle memory and practice or learning to very quickly move your thumb to the joystick and back during a combo ;) I’ve put way too many hours into the Tekken 8 demo now training my ghost AI, I hope everyone else is enjoying it! For fighting games just in general, you can use whatever you're comfortable with, since you're using analouge you'll be completely okay. For Tekken specifically, you absolutely can learn the game with Yoshi. He has very wild potential in your hands Jev. 👌
In my opinion it’s super dependent on how you hold your controller. I prefer to use the dpad. It to me feels more accurate. The pads of your fingers are big enough to do the inputs. Correction on yoshi playing a different game. Theres a direct way to play tekken and a gimmicky way to play, yoshi is just very good at the gimmicky. He has all the same tools as most character except like a few punish options and a strong 50/50 but his gimmicks allow him to be wild on the field. What I mean by 50/50 is like “if I wave dash in your face, you’re going to guess my next move” not “oh I’m back turned from my opp-“ (it takes too long to do anything) yes yoshi has options back tuned but that’s what makes him a gimmick and not a 50/50. I mained yoshi in t7 and in sc3-6. In tekken he’s not the best but he’s good at what he does. You can play him how ever you like the gimmick way is just more fun. For Tekken and fighting games in general, D-Pad is better than the thumb stick. Arcade sticks that competitive players use only really use stick for the legacy since controllers like HitBox is mathematically faster and objectively more precise. Plus with D-Pad you don't have the issue of over shooting and misinputting a direction.

This is the first year i haven’t bought the annual CoD, I feel so much better as a person, it’s like getting out of a toxic abusive relationship.
As a tekken player I use D-pad and it’s definitely a learning curve but imo D-pad is the way to go it’s just learning how todo the inputs

dpad is better for movement but analog stick helps with motion esk moves so using both in different situations is the best option for tekken

For Tekken and fighting games in general, D-Pad is better than the thumb stick. Arcade sticks that competitive players use only really use stick for the legacy since controllers like HitBox is mathematically faster and objectively more precise. Plus with D-Pad you don't have the issue of over shooting and misinputting a direction.
