Do you need a pull down resistor with this type of simple connection, or is that only needed when driving the relay from an Arduino?
no just your choose
You only need pull down resistors on otherwise floating inputs. As the arduino is providing an output to the onto, nothing is required here.
Hi there, i have that same relay module. It lights up but no switching on the output side. Does your relay module make a "clicking" sounds when it closes the switch on the output side?

make sure of 2 things: 1) your power source is 5V and NOT via USB port (its too weak) and 2) your JD-VCC jumper is on with VCC.

It's a 5V Mini Micro Submersible Water Pump.

hello there, can i use it with 12v water pump to control the power output
the module work with 5v
and the relay you can use them with 12v
