I got a ticket for not having a fishing license on Fathers Day fishing with my son. We were just fishing for fun catch and release. Walking back to my truck I got stopped by a fish warden and got a 120$ fine. Didn’t have any fish with us.
Any price to fish when the fish don't belong to anyone is atrocious and immoral. Just a cash grab, nothing more. They claim it is to stop overfishing... my ass!! They just want to leech money from hard working people. They should all get a real job that is productive to society instead of hassling people enjoying the outdoors. Lisense to fish is racketeering at its finest... "pay for our permission, or else" if they really cared about overfishing they would make fishing illegal, not charge you to do it... they just want your money.
It is like seatbelt laws... if they really cared about you being safe and wearing a seat belt they would be in school busses. Ever notice school busses don't have seatbelts?! Kids can move about a bus willy nilly and they are never pulled over. That's because you can't collect money from children. If safety was really the issue kids would be the number 1 priority. Fishing lisense is the same way, doesn't effect anyone else just a way to leech your money away.
@@KatrinEgilsdottir no its bc if someone catches a state record fish it will count.if you catch a 20 lb state bass it will not count in the state record books and its a way to get money. Also they dont put seat belts in buses because they are designed for impacts the seats are padded.how would that sound in news 36 kids die from bus rearended that caught on fire that they couldnt get out of seatbelts.😂kinda sounds like 19 kids shot to death with ar15 by 20 yr old who bought the guns last week, and senator saying we need to arm the teachers, sure instead of fking the kids they will be shooting them when they get on anti depressants and their husbands cheat on em.👍👍👍
The fun part is they just are now making the CA fishing license good for a full 365 days from the point of sale. When you only saltwater fish like myself, it sucked to buy a full-year license when the water warmed up in summer and only get 4-5 useable months out of it.
You have the right to fish in California by law, rights do not require permission slips/ fishing licenses. No state may take a right convert it into a privilege and charge a fee therefore, they are not going to tell you this you have to stand up for your right
Are you gonna pay to stock the bodies of water? No.. Neither is the next guy. The simple fact is if you didn't pay to keep them up they'd all be trashed and our kids would never get the chances we had.
Looks like we all gotta get that lifetime licence. That’s ridiculous the way it played out, there are certainly better venues that needs more enforcement😅
Sucks. It’s usually the home owners overseeing the fishing area that call the wild life. If you don’t want the public to fish by their backyard then don’t buy a home overseeing a public body of water
I understand your frustration and feel for u but the law is the law. The people you dealt with are just doing their jobs. When I was a teen I got busted without a fishing license and fortunately for me the judge let me off. That day people were in court for other serious issues and he was like, you're here for what? Son, go get a damn license and don't do that again.
Yup! Its a birthright to fish farm and hunt. Dont let them take your birthright away by letting them bully you. Refuse. I will not pay for something ive not done wrong. And why should they get money for my mistake anyway?! More money to buy more spy devices to take your birthrights away by brute force if nessesary? Who made them god. Not me. They dont control me. Never will i will not comply i will not bow down i will not serve terrorism and tyranny and greedy men in suits who i very seriously doubt are subject to such atrocious laws and forced corrections.
I feel your pain dude I agree with everything your saying I got popped at Castaic dude acted all cool and said where’s your license? I pulled out my license it was expired by like a day or two lol mind you I was not even caught Fishing I was walking to my car to leave but said he seen me Fishing 30 min prior before coming up to me I said wow I got popped and yeah long story short $500 but I would definitely pay $75 or whatever it is for the year then pay that $500 man any day but they definitely don’t let people slide well not me and you but aside from all that thanks for all the informative videos I learn new things from your videos and others that are willing to help fellow Fishermen out right on and thanks brotha 🤙🏼
Damn I got one years ago but no fine just fix it ticket. Showed the clerk I bought a license and they wave the ticket for $25 fee that’s it in Cali too
Yeah well here in Nebraska, it's a misdemeanor, and I've had that criminal record following me around for two decades now. Lost a job because I didn't disclose it. Thought it was just like a speeding ticket. I was 19, just threw a line in the water for 20 minutes to relax after work one night, wasn't even planning on keeping anything. My license expired a few months prior. I haven't fished since that happened. Whenever I start to miss it, that feeling goes away real quick when I think about everything I went through because of that.
it’s sad to see the ignorance in the comment section. we don’t pay for a license just to be allowed to throw a lure or bait in water, we pay for a license so the dnr can monitor wild life. they make sure no fish are being taken if endangered, stocking bodies of water with fish so many people can enjoy fishing for years to come. fishing, much like driving, vending, hunting, and many other activities, are not rights given to everyone, they’re privileges. it’s honestly just sad to see how many people don’t know how much work goes into wildlife conservation and how crucial wildlife is to humans.
I don't think that's the case. not in my case anyway-- my complaint was that I had a license it had only just expired. and it's a strange way of doing a license -- calendar year instead of year long. and I bought with me to court about a dozen licenses from multiple states to prove I am not some poacher. but I agree-- people think they and everyone else should be free to do whatever they want... as if there are no consequences.
Oh man it happened to me I didn't get a ticket but I fished with a expired license for a couple weeks thinking I had it up todate(first 2 weeks of January), And I heard her in kern County those tickets are ove $1000 bucks!
I don't believe in pain to go fishing it's a joke! Fishing used to be free for American citizens but in 1921 started more taxes just like the driver's license scam!
it used to be worse though.. they would take all the gear you had on you and also fine you.. i agree if someone pays on the spot and gets a license that day.. sure fine them but maybe 50 dolllars.. now if its a guy who never has a license and still isnt getting one yes hit him fat or a poacher type.. sadly i might be moving to connecticut in a 3-6 months.. ever fish there?.. it looks decent but i think a boat is needed it looks like a lot of overgrowth around the rivers and areas to fish.. gl out there. you been getting a lot of nice fish lately
I don’t give this state a penny, if I can help it. I stopped hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors, because of their ridiculous rules. We need an adventure pass, just to park in the side of a highway, or dirt road, just to go hiking ? They’re out of their mind. So now I rather drive to Utah 2-3 times a year.
same thing happened to me a few years back but my judge was cool she literally looked at the evidence I brought (previous yearly licenses and current license) and she let me go I just had to pay the court fee
It's messed up I garentee they looked at you having all those fishing license an your history of having them ... an they looked at it as he knew it expires at the first of the year... he's not a rookie that's probably why they didn't dismiss the case ... if I was a judge I would've dismissed it ... states are petty an will do anything to get money now days
Bro that IS YOUR BAD, I have renewed religiously since age 16. At least the judge was kind. I’ve always known it’s $5xx dollars, since 20+ years ago. Know the rules and no issues, it’s part of your responsibility and blaming the state for you own bad is silly. No license = poaching. Own up and fish on.
It’s not equal to poaching but in this day and age with so many people fishing it’s nice to know there is some barrier and deterrence against people out fishing all of our beaches and bodies of water. I see no problem Requiring a licenses and catch limits. If you live somewhere with way less people and the fish are abundant and is managed well just by the community then maybe stricter management isn’t necessary but for lots of our land in the US is simply very populated
I got stoppedd for fishing without a license in marylaand it was a 25$ fine i neber paid ot neber did anything it stayed in the courts for a very long time but i neber worried about it
It's all a scam
I don’t believe in the system if you can’t fish in the US without permission, you are not free
Officer had to hit his monthly quota 😂
I got a ticket for not having a fishing license on Fathers Day fishing with my son. We were just fishing for fun catch and release. Walking back to my truck I got stopped by a fish warden and got a 120$ fine. Didn’t have any fish with us.
that's so lame. I think what they do is invaluable but they should think first.
Ugh, even at half the cost that's such a high price for a minor infraction, ridiculous. I'm going to check mine right now. Thanks for the reminder.
that's what im here for.

I just got a misdemeanor for spear fishing smh the fwc officer was a asshole messed up my record
Damn striaght!
@huckfin1100
I missed 1970/1980 NO LICENSE back then....
When freemen were free
Are you gonna pay to stock the bodies of water? No.. Neither is the next guy.
The simple fact is if you didn't pay to keep them up they'd all be trashed and our kids would never get the chances we had.
Seeing you bought one on the same day, I'd have just tossed it out.
Same thing happened to me. I think I'll just pay the fine tho. It's less than missing work and driving 4 hours.
Cost me a $100 in MO once. Didn’t catch shit and cast out probably 5 times.
It's a money scam
Of Course.
Looks like we all gotta get that lifetime licence. That’s ridiculous the way it played out, there are certainly better venues that needs more enforcement😅
Should of been just a simple warning.. keep your head up!
You got robbed!

N.I.M.B.Y .... Not In My Back Yard lol.
Here in florida if you fail to renew your car tag after 1week LATE it turns into A FELONY
Gawd😮
Somebody's got to pay for that 70 billion bungled train to nowhere of the governor, right? : (

if they see it was just a minor oversight, they should let it go.

That’s is stupid California fishing law. I’m a love fishing, but I quit fishing because of this dumb license always expire at the end of December

never fished out there. but im sure there's some good fishing. good luck!
They just want their money, they don’t care about all that other stuff.
I got a ticket for fishing with a barb in barbless waters...Couldn't catch anything anyway. $525. Now I'm an educator for that body of water. LOL
What is the reason for fishing laws? Didn’t find any videos about it
Control

Idk. I make sure my license is on hand and valid before I fish. Sounds like you need some organization skills.
Yeah, that sucks because you coulda bought a lot of good stuff with that $250
Yeah I would have just had you buy one in front of me. At least that.
Put the video up here... where?
Wake up people i need a license to work this week LOL
It's all about raising Police revenue. A conflict of interest.
Does only fish and game give tickets and check for license ?
That’s so stupid

Bummer
The mistake is on you, and now others can learn from your mistake
Hate cops and fish and game like this
Can relate bro
pa takes your gear.
You should have known better if you have had fishing licenses. Be responsible.
I just buy lifetime licenses.
best way to do it.
LOL
They need a gun and ammo liscence.

Bs it’s not poaching. It’s ridiculous to require a human to catch a fish for a meal

Same government slaughtered 60million bison in attempt to make them extinct to starve out the plains tribes
