Like 61 👍 Greetings from Naples, Florida. We have never been to Helen, but have seen pictures, etc. Looks like a nice place to visit. Thanks for sharing your visit and the food looks delicious. 💯
Is Bigg Daddy's Restaurant and Tavern still there? Its at 807 Edelweiss Strasse near A Slice of Helen. If so, it was very good. We haven't been since before Quarantine so it may not be there anymore. We ate there several nights because it was so good. Haufbrau House and the Troll Ravern is good. Bavarian Haus is very authentic. Huddle House is just that, but it is good too. There also was a little deli in the IGA that was very reasonable and delicious that my hubby and I stayed near at the Hampton. We used to get up there several times a summer... I long to go again. Don;t forget to got to Sautee Nacoochee and visit the Old Sautee General Store.
We did not see it on this trip, but I looked it up. Google has a listing for it still at that address. I think it still exists. 🙂 Sounds like you did a lot of exploring there. We would love to go back and visit one day!
The Heidelberg had a big sign that said no recording. It looked like a nice place, though. We wanted to check out Fred's Famous Peanuts but ran out of time. We will be back one day to Helen. It was an incredible place and the food was amazing! One of our favorite foods is German! 😁
You give tour? If so let our views know how to get a hold of you. TH-cam does not allow urls. Maybe next time we visit we will look you up! Definitely want to go back for another visit 🙂
Thank you. Yes. It is called Helen and Back Food Tour. Anyone can sign up by googling us and clicking the website. They are rated as one of the top things to do in Helen Ga. It's a really cool tour and a lot of fun.
This is about as close to good German food we get to try here in the States. We love it! Hopefully, one day, we will get to try German food in Germany! Greetings, and thanks for watching!
I never heard of Helen until yesterday. My wife pointed out that she want to stop and have a German meal on our way to The Smokey because she found out about it from TH-cam videos. There are no German restaurants near us. My main worry is our's arrival time around 1 or 2 o'clock on a Saturday in the middle of July is parking and the wait at a restaurant to get a table. We have only a 2 to 3-hour window because I wanted to hike Tallulah at sunset. I have a motel room reserved nearby the gorge. It only has 900 steps to climb. So the closer to the Bodensee the better for my 70-year-old legs. I hope you have an idea of a good place to park near Bodensee because my wife won't walk far, She wants me to drop her off go find a parking space, and walk back. She doesn't care if it is a mile away. Afterward, on a full belly, I have to go get the car and pick her back up. She said I am used to walking, I average 5 to 6 miles a day or more on my hiking trip.
There is so much traffic in Helen on the weekends. I can't guarantee anything, but the Bodensee is on Narr Wag and Munich Strasse. If you look on the map, there is public parking near that area. They don't take reservations at the restaurant. It might not be as packed around 1 or 2 though. The food is definitely worth a stop if you like German food. When we visited, we stayed at an airbnb just down the road on Narr Wag. We did a video, so if you check that out, you can kind of see the public parking in that area off the back patio. Narr Wag starts out as a 2 way street and at the airbnb becomes a one-way street. I hope you guys are able to enjoy the Bodensee. It is too bad you could not stay one night. The town is such a nice place to visit.
Well, that is unfortunate. We had a great experience. Restaurants can have off days, and everyone has different tastes? I don't remember the food being salty. Sorry you had a bad time.
I just realized why you said this comment. The restaurant had Miller Lite mugs. I had a German Pilsner in the mug. Are you a fan of Miller Lite or making fun of it?
The food looked really good there! We want to revisit Helen and try more food. So many restaurants! We never got to try the spanish restaurants. They have a bunch. Thanks for watching!
@@FloridaandBeyond Helen is my favorite, keep exploring its such a perfect little town. I am thankful to be close by. BTW i love Hofer's for a lunch spot, German beer and a free donut for your birthday, Pretty good lunch, stay away from the pizza place (my opinion) and mexican is pretty good if you want somthing different.
@@bobstoner415 Hofer's was one of the places we wanted to try but did not have time too. We would love to go back one day and explore more. Definitely eat more too. The 2 restaurants we did try Bodensee Restaurant and Muller's was delicious! We love German food and Helen. Thanks for watching!
@@FloridaandBeyond Cant wait to see yall return! Glad you had fun. Make sure to go when the river is open for tubing. When its not crowded and the water level is higher its a good time. Edit - BTW Nachoochee Village Pizza is ok, i was speaking about Pies and Pints (has a new name now) never was a good place.

Our family is part German so we love German food lol. Mike's mom made him potato pancakes all the time. The fried cheese was delicious!

Lots of yummy Germany food! Some people said it was too salty. When we were there it was really good. 🙂
hallo bodensee restaurant, wo am bodensee habt ihr gelebt? ich bin auch vom bodensee.
The owners lived, not us. We just tried their food lol. We love German food and culture. Both Mike and I have a percentage of German in our DNA. 🙂
Slice of Helen for pizza! 🍕

Currently in Helen. Went to Bodensee based on your suggestion and we hated it. Food was so so so salty

Why is she playing everybody’s food???
Okay, I wasn't playing with everyone's food. Kids wanted to show off what they got, too. There was so much you had to lift things up to see all of it.
