    Im an og subscriber. As someone who is also creative and has absolutely no interest in seeing women go down the path of revolving their entire lives around men and having children, I thoroughly enjoy your diy/party planning content. It's nice to see women share interests and hobbies that aren't limited by patriarchy or money

    I enjoy your content because you’re not following the same traditional path of getting married, having a bunch of kids. I love seeing a single woman pursue her hobbies, do arts and crafts! That is what is exciting for me to watch. Please keep doing you Raven I admire you so much you’re an inspo to me!

    This is a great topic. Quick observation …Aaliyah’s face content blew up during covid era/ after she purchased her home in Atlanta. She also did a bunch of luxury, soft girl, fitness topics which garnered her a huge audience. She was originally a makeup based TH-camr but transitioned to lifestyle. She never really shared her relationship and her audience didn’t really care, but would record date night Grwm, or cook at home with me, walked her dog, car vlogs, getting her hair done, nails done and taking the audience along ..etc (relatable content) and still somehow made the vlogs entertaining. I think the goal for TH-cam that most ppl miss is to do it for the plot, but to also still connect with your audience.

      Of course every minute of every vlog isn't going to be some huge update or a big next step in life, so I know that she definitely incorporates the more mundane or routine aspects of her life too... but I find that her content does have a consistent cadence of updates or the overall feeling of forward progress and newness. She has done a great job of keeping her viewers on a journey. Keeping things exciting. Moving, getting fit, dating, traveling, leveling up her life. It's never JUST walking the dog and getting nails done, which was my point. But I agree, her personality and way of connecting with her viewers is a HUGE reason why she's so successful. You can't discredit that part at all! I think both aspects are equally important in this niche.

      She did share her relationship and had her boyfriend on her channel. She was constantly going out, traveling, trying new restaurants, visiting family for holidays, she’s moved a few times and she’s bicoastal. She changed her home decor a lot and she had several updates about her home and life. Ravens life isn’t as busy and inclined.

It is natural, but you can go on without it b/c It will come! You deserve everything great including love and a happily ever after in that area. It’s going to work out ❤️

    My knee jerk reaction to you saying mundane vlogs don’t work in long form content was that you were projecting but after listening to you explain further and give examples I actually do agree. When I think about it, I do love the mundane/routine vlogs BUT not from people I don’t already know/have followed along their journey. The ‘boring’ 45 minute long content only entertains me from someone that I’ve watched for years and have rode the ride with them. A quick, 1-3 minute TikTok of a routine day from some unknown person, sure, I’ll definitely look if it pops up on my FYP. And I think that’s the part that new creators that are on TT/IG that do have big success are struggling with as they are now trying to move their audience to YT in case of a ban and they aren’t getting the engagement they are used to seeing. In other words, you cannot be boring in long form content if we weren’t shooting with you in the gym 😂😂

    • @ravenelysepodcast
      @ravenelysepodcast  วันที่ผ่านมา +30

      Yes! You explained this perfectly! Creators have to ask themselves... WHY would someone care? Either your content is very interesting on it's own, or people are interested because they're invested. And it can be hard to get people invested like that.

    • @ashleycaddy2736
      @ashleycaddy2736 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

      @ I also yelled CLOCK IT at the 35+ minute mark! You are more than a mother and I cannot believe people are tuning out/disinterested because they don’t see a man and more kids in your life. You’re doing SO MUCH MORE! You are LIVING! I’m also not a fan of exploiting your family for clicks so I completely agree with you not centering your content around Ziya. I have enjoyed seeing her grow up of course and I will be SAT if and when you do decide you want to “settle down” with a man but that is not what I’m waiting for nor am I expecting that. A woman is so much more than a wife and offspring maker. I think you’re seeing the difference in the TT vs YT world because TT is heavily Gen Z and YT is mostly millennial and the values are wildly different between the two age groups. And this is coming from a married mother 😂

    I feel like this is an example of why being an “influencer” and the weight it has on your mental health needs to be heavily studied because I can’t think of many other demanding professions in which you cannot separate your personal life from your career because this is mind blowing to me and kind of saddening that majority of your personal life is dependent on your income something about that is not right to me but yet here we are watching and commenting and liking idk it’s all maddening kinda

I am also invested in watching both you and Ziya grow, so an occasional appearance from here is also appreciated.

    I left a comment on Spotify about what I think about the content, but I wanted to leave a comment about the “being relatable” thing. To piggyback on your example, Aaliyah stopped being “relatable” a long time ago, there’s a reason we still follow her and still get excited to watch her content. It’s enjoyable, she does what she wants to do and we can see that she enjoys whatever is that she’s doing, and we like it. She doesn’t over share, she posts whenever she has time to post and we still tune in every time.

    • @ravenelysepodcast
      @ravenelysepodcast  4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      You have to leave space for nuance in these conversations. You as one viewer can't speak for her entire audience either. I don't disagree with your point at all...but I've seen with my own eyes people complain about her "lack of relatability" and say it made them stop watching her...while at the same time I obviously see her continued success. What I'm saying is, all of our observations can be true at the same time. Success on youtube is about much more than just "being yourself and having fun with it"...if it was THAT easy, everyone would do it. I could do a whole episode just analyzing what exactly makes Aaliyah's channel successful. There's definitely layers to it, and strategy. The way you described it is kinda dumbing it down and making it sound like "all you gotta do is...!" and that's where I kinda disagree.

Also because you can't keep up with the other bloggers the way you use too, or should be able to, I totally understand you on that. I agree. She mentioned something like competition with Allyiah and I think that’s where the problem starts. Although I feel raven started the lifestyle vlogging and following “the journey” era, I feel vloggers like Kirah, Allyiah and Chelsie took off during the pandemic because people were home, bored and they were new faces with a different approach. All of them have their own lane that works for them. And those ladies have a different lifestyle from raven as it relates to her being a mother, more settled in, homeowner, etc while the other girls are trying to figure it out, kid less and traveling the world. I pray everything works out for the best for her. I’ve always admired ravens hustle. Heyyyy maybe it’s time to retire and just enjoy the fruits of her labor. We sometimes forget that that’s a thing. Especially when you are goal oriented.

    It’s fascinating hearing your perspective and the examples you provided because I actually don’t watch the specific vlog when the content creator starts bombarding us with boyfriend/husband content (and this coming from a married woman 🤭). I don’t have an interest in the romantic relationship because it’s never comes across authentic so I don’t even bother. I absolutely love your diy and hosting content… that’s what I’m passionate about as well. So just know I’ll STILL be tuning in. “I hate that the relationship unlocks the door” PREACH!!!! Meanwhile, I be skipping those vids because I become a subscriber for the WOMEN’s personality, passion, and interests not for the romanticized fantasy of the heterosexual relationship. Side note: I commend you on not going against your principles just for the sake of “content” by explicitly intimate moments with your child or family. Being a successful content creator as a primary source of income is not easy. Much respect Raven for your level of integrity. ALSO, have ever considered purchasing a commercial property to be used an event space? Event/wedding venues industry is such a low maintenance business and people would pay to have their next event at a “hall” curated by you… just sharing an idea 😊

    • @ravenelysepodcast
      @ravenelysepodcast  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      I think a lot of people agree with you on not really seeking out the boyfriend content. If you follow the woman, you stay for the woman, not her man. BUT when the woman becomes a girlfriend or a wife (or even a mom) SHE becomes "more interesting" because HER life now has new paths to take...which I think is interesting to the viewer and THAT'S the real appeal behind it. Maybe you wouldn't care to see my boyfriend himself, but what about the new house we bought together that i'm now working on furnishing? I think it's more about that domino effect of the way it might affect my life and routine and new adventures. - About the event space: I've gotten that suggestion a ton, even from my own mom, but I'm afraid that business isn't as low maintenance or high yielding as it seems and it's not something I feel passionate about so I'm worried it would just be a lot of added stress for little return. But who knows!

    • @christinarach340
      @christinarach340 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I think it depends on your audience. For example the people who followed her from college were probably in college as well, they got jobs, moved in with boyfriends/ husbands, had kids and they grew with her. It could be that the same people are now busy with kids and don’t have time to watch videos anymore. And I’m saying that because I have kids now and don’t watch lifestyles videos the way I used to before I had kids. 31 is when people start settling and building their life, fortunately for her it happened earlier. People are asking if she is moving because probably they are building their homes and are looking for search content

But as we got older & now that we’re in our 30’s I realize that you were ahead of the game my friend. I’ve always respected how you took control of your life early on & have accomplished so much as the boss. Society might not catch up soon as it is still very much male centered and women are expected to struggle but you should be proud. You are that girl❤

    I’m an OG subscriber from the end of college/loft days and have loved your content since then. I watch both you and Alliyah and I’d say the biggest difference with your channels is the DIY content is very niche while Alliyah has a more broad approach to her content. She’s private but still shares A LOT of her day to day wins, struggles, etc. that keeps her interesting despite having big life events. I think big life updates are interesting to most but I don’t think it’s the most important thing that keeps an audience. I enjoyed when you shared your day to day and just enjoy your personality in general. I think with the DIY content you as a person are less of the focus and it’s harder to connect or be interested when the content isn’t about you. If someone isn’t particularly interested in learning how to do said DIY project, I’m not sure if that would yield the same results as content about you on TH-cam specifically. I enjoy your content regardless and appreciated your perspective on this topic. As a non entitled viewer, I hope you are happy in whatever direction you take. You are still one of my favorite creators because you are genuine and THAT is what I think is the key to being a great creator ❤

    OG here and I love all of your content! In my opinion, you stand out more because I literally view this as “Raven’s TV network.” There’s cooking, vlogging, DIY, home updates, travel, hosting, Ziya, property management, podcasts, you get the picture. You stand out because of your willingness to pivot and make it professional. I’m always looking for that 12 o’clock video drop. Like you said in one of your tic tok lives, I’d watch your video even if it was just you chillin on the couch watching tv lol. I think social media has really warped society’s brain where some don’t have the bandwidth to watch a video more than 3 minutes; much less having some outrageous attention grabbing content. I also think that society feels as if influencers are the new “entertainment” since celebrities are overrated (my strongest opinion). I definitely see how this could overwhelm you and I’m all for the breaks, but please don’t leave us ❤. Side note: you set bar real high on these birthday parties 😂.

  • @cmthemuse

    i’ve been watching you since before you had ziya and i will say the thing we tuned in for is your transparency and rawness: you showed your acne journey, navigating being a single mom, family dynamics with having them work with you, developing friendships with other creatives. NOW you’re not as transparent with those things and it makes us feel like you’re on a personal journey that we aren’t a part of anymore. yes being a DIY/Home improvement girl is a journey but it feels like only a fraction of your life that’s done only for content and not as organic/authentic as the real life things. ❤

You show that moms can be good moms and also have their own hobbies and interests outside and away from their kids. I know people ask, but don’t feel pressured to get married bc that’s the “next step.” For some people, it’s not. And that’s ok. I think you are on a journey though. I see the move away from vlogging to diy and navigating a different niche as a journey in of itself. I've enjoyed this journey you are on... It interest me because not only is it entertaining and inspiring to see the diys, it is also a mind floss to see content outside of same old same old. We've been watching lifestyle, mommy, couple, family vlogs for decades. To be honest it gets boring from time to time to see the same formula on repeat. Furthermore, it's intriguing and informative to see you navigating and hearing you being forthcoming about the business of youtube and its challenges. I find myself truly rooting for your success. So yeah, to me this is absolutely a journey!

    I’m a silent viewer, been watching you for a longgg time. And this is my second time commenting: I’ve been married for 14 years. I am in a happy and healthy marriage. Not one day have I said I wish u had relationship/married content: I love that you are you. I love that you are very specific in your vlogs. A lot of other vlogs the TH-camrs are not specific or detailed in what they are saying. I think you are hard on yourself because you’re a perfectionist. Which is normal, but I think some of those comments you’re talking about have taking a tole/ you might also just be at that age where you yourself want something else. And it might be a partner which is fine. However most TH-camrs I watch that do show partners, I find boring: I don’t think it’s genuine. I love the authenticity in your TH-cam. Another thing I don’t always get notified when you upload: and I def clicked to notify me: that might be another thing. Regardless I enjoy your TH-cam channel a lot. I enjoy your ig I don’t go on TikTok much but when I do, it’s only for you. Mental health is wealth, so please take care ❤of yourself

    Thank you for being so transparent, open, and honest over the years. Sometimes life is just "blah" and we can't explain it. I really recommend considering talking to a therapist (maybe a cool female therapist) who can help you map out your thoughts and bring in a new, unbiased perspective.

    I am so happy you bought this back. I'm 29, and I feel like I'm in the same boat. I get frustrated that people are asking questions that they struggle to answer themselves. It lacks creativity and creates anxiety. It takes a lot of talking yourself through the seeds you have planted, and just waiting for God to water them.
    People really do act like people chose to be single knowing the options are rough that come across their plate. People also act like choosing a partner isn't a huge decision that you should not rush into. It's important to figure out this piece of your life too (adapting to career , hobbies, wants, needs, etc. changes) BEFORE getting into a relationship, so that dissatisfaction isn't the focal point of the relationship. The struggle with figuring things out is not going to go away just because you find someone. You want to find the right one. A partner is a component of life not life itself, and that is where most people keep messing up. Great episode. You are not alone, and we will figure it out!!

    I have wondered about what you are saying about being "tired" of vlogging. Everyone grows and changes but when this thing is your job, can you afford to get tired of it. That doesn't change the fact that you are tired. There are other folks that I follow and have followed for years...some just fall away without saying anything and some push through and you can tell they're a little tired. Thanks for talking about it. Praying for a solution that works for you and your family.

    Don’t allow the pressure to vlog get to you just because that’s what people want to see, at the end of the day do what brings happiness to you. I believe that TH-cam was so much more authentic when TH-camrs did it out of pure passion and not solely focusing on the views, algorithm and the money. I love the authentic sit down talks and the real vulnerable moments that is what makes you, you

I think how your life has evolved speaks to a journey rights of passage etc that is guided by you putting one foot in front of the other. You are settled and are maintaining. Having a man is not what you need. Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be nice to have a partner. But you have managed without one and with your family support system. Hey hello hi. Silent viewer here. I’m someone that joined the YT crew when you bought your new home simply because I love the creative process of designing and putting a home together. I then stuck around because of the personality lol, but I now LOVE your new lane of DIY because I enjoy watching any creative process and seeing it come to life. Simply just wanted to say, I hope you can find some peace in the fact that your people are out there and will continue to find you - even if it seems to be a hella slow process on YT. I know easier said than done, but don’t let the people who don’t enjoy this evolving part of yourself keep you back in a place that doesn’t bring you joy. Negativity will always seem louder but they will eventually (hopefully lol) move on if the content no longer serves them which will make room for the community that supports and enjoys it. 💕 As someone who was and is also feeling hella “blah” lately, hoping you find that new passion you’re looking for - cuz same, sis lol.

I’m not saying the views won’t hit a high if you get married but where does it end? At what cost of what you want? Be real with what you want outside of what’s popular in the content world. It’s change babes you have to know what your change should be. If you’re not relatable you grew hun. If people don’t like that then they’re not your audience any longer.

I do think as long as it’s organic and you want to share share. Host, throw parties, get really with me, hauls, be a landlord, clean with me organize, budgets. If you do go on a date or out with friends film a portion of it. There is so much content someone in your position could provide if that’s truely what you want to do. Women are so multifaceted. I know you said you won’t do certain things just for the sake of content, which I totally agree with. Just listening to this sounds like you’ve hit a plateau in your self growth and I could definitely relate to this myself being single and not having those big milestones.
    I think going on a self re-discovery journey would be super beneficial for you and your wellbeing. It has certainly helped me.
    Maybe do try to shift things up a little in your life and try things out side of your comfort zone. I know you’ve built such an amazing and wonderful life for yourself, and it’s so easy to be comfortable where you’re currently at, but maybe this could nudge you to open up your world a bit. Even if it’s not for the content.

    I totally understand the appeal of the short form audience. BUT , and this is my opinion, I think it's a sense of building an audience all over again. New people are getting introduced to the content you want to make now and love it, but once you want to move on or change that content it will be the same. Because like youtube you "condition" them in a sense to expect that content. The die hards are the ones that will stick and grow with you. Growth isn't linear.
    I've been with RE TV since the makeup and hair tutorials. It may be hard see that the numbers aren't always going up, but the audience you want WILL find you. 10 years ago you probably wouldn't have even thought about a sponsorship with Home Depot now look at you.

    So I normally don’t post but I’ve been watching for years now. Not one of the OGs but definitely quite some time now from when Ziya was a baby. Anyways - I’m glad I watched until the end of the podcast because a lot of what you said really hit home. I’m 35 and accomplished quite a bit in my 20s. I was always grinding. Leveling up in promotions, bought my first house (a triplex) at 26, lots of traveling, fitness journey, relationship was great at the time… then 2020 came I really decided to step back from my high stress job and find something more 9-5. Now, as I watch my peers hit a lot of the milestones you’re speaking of, I’m kind of like… what’s next for me? I feel like I’ve been coasting from about 2021 too. Obviously I’m not a content creator LOL but I decided to live with purpose in 2025 and make multiple small goals across 5 areas - finance, wellness, professional, travel, personal and work towards them. It’s given me a new sense of purpose this year. I absolutely love watching your content, PARTICULARLY the DIY/hosting content. I bought the ebook as well! I’m not sure if you’ve considered it but maybe a YT channel just for your DIYs? This audience as you’ve said came from a different time and not everyone evolves in the same way. But just as you’ve found new followers on TT and IG around DIY content, there’s millions of people on YT who love that content. I follow quite a few creators who do that solely. I love the stuff you do with your Cricut, etc. I want to learn more about that. Anyways, sorry for the ramble! Just wanted to post that you are not alone, a lot of us are struggling to figure out next steps and you being vulnerable and posting about this IS relatable and IS a “life update” and we appreciate it, and we appreciate YOU. 💕

I will admit, I’m mostly a silent viewer, I’ve commented here and there but I usually don’t. I think it goes without saying that having to show up for work when you are uninspired by the requested tasks is difficult. Your content has evolved from beauty/hair/fashion to mom/travel/home/business/brand. I think many who may have only been here for a piece of those things may not see how your current delivery is relevant to their needs. I personally enjoy the DIY in short form because it’s a little more instant gratification if all the videos have been posted. I truly believe you will figure it out or as you have things to share you can figure out. Even an idea like showing the BTS of content creation, providing party planning consulting or new business ventures is “milestone” content. At the core of what ppl are asking for is the stripped down everyday who is Raven content weaved into what you are passionate about.
