Just wanted to say thank you for all of your videos. I adopted my AA daughter one year ago. She was 6 at the time and had extremely damaged hair. But I didn't know what was damage and what was normal for 4c hair. Needless to say, I've learned a ton this past year and you are helping me go further in our hair journey. Thank you for all you are doing! Blessings!
I love how you always explain things so promptly and clearly without excess chatter. Your hair is gorgeous! Oh I saw you last night on tv in a Shea Moisture commercial and I screamed! lol
Soooooo, I just tried this using coconut oil, and Hello Hydration conditioner, unfortunately I didn't have aloe vera juice on hand. Nevertheless, This is THE most moisturized my hair has felt after a co-wash. Just amazing! Thanks Whitney!!!
It frustrates me that people thumbs down your stuff. I don't understand it. You have great advice about hair and even though our textures are completely different I gain inspiration from watching the way you love your hair, the way that you have fun with it, the way you are so down to earth and the fact that you have accepted your natural beauty and let it shine for others to see. Your videos make me more confident in taking care of my own hair. Thank you so much for the opening your life to us on these forums. :D
I tried this method and now I am totally hooked. It works great for me and I use cheap Suave coconut conditioner and EVOO. Thanks for introducing me to my hair's best ever co-wash method. You Rock!
You know, no matter how many co-wash tutorials I watch, yours are ALWAYS the most user-friendly. I really like simple and to-the-point routines for my hair (as I am VERY low maintenance, and generally only stray from wash-and-go's for a special occasion), and your hair routines are the best~!
This was the fastest cowash. The least amount of hair "shedding" off. And it's the softest my hair has been after any wash. This is amazing! Will be doing it from now on. Thanks, Whitney! :)
Hi Whitney, I went natural about 18 months ago. While, my hair is not as long and thick as yours (thin, fine medium length) and my texture is not the same as yours(combination 3a/3b/3c & 4a) I still find your videos very helpful. I love the way you do your twist outs and wash and go's (I have yet to master your twist technique). Years of perming my thin fine hair has made my hair thinner.and although going natural has deterred the thinning process somewhat; it is still thin. But thanks to your videos I find many styles that aid in making my hair look more voluminous. So, again thank you for your videos they have been and still are very helpful to me. May God continue to bless and prosper you and your family! Keep the videos coming! Love you!!
I needed this so much. Thank you. Here in South Korea, there is no products for African Americans so this is so perfect for me since I do not get relaxers!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm going to try this method for washing my hair. It's about BSL length, and I always find myself spending 30-45 minutes in the shower detangling and washing my hair. I always run out of hot water! This method looks better :)
This is so smart. I never thought to do the conditioning outside the shower instead of doing the whole process in the shower, And those bangs are adorable!!
Ive been fully natural for a little over a year and your vids have helped me ever step of the way, from transitioning til now. Thanks viv, keep up the good work!
Drying with an old towel definitely helps with frizz. It's the best when you have locs and you're trying to avoid as much lint as possible. You make taking of naturals curls so easy and even though majority of the tips I can't use, you did influence me so much. I have my own hair and body oil mixture and my own shea butter mixture all inspired by you. So thanks! You're awesome and your hair looks absolutely beautiful.
Ugh, I NEEDED this. I have a tangled mess on the top of my head right now, due to the fact that I've been putting off doing it. Just the inspiration I needed. Will do this, right now - thanks Whitney!
I developed a sensitivity to various chemicals that are found in most shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc, so I tried *Argan Rain* shampoo and conditioner and it's great! It doesn't irritate my skin at all. I love the smells.
seriously, stop trying too sell us your product, literally every hair video on youtube has a rep from argan rain trying too sell more of it, no one cares about it, we'd much rather use natural brands like shea moisture, boucleme, trepadora than invest in something you claim too be good. For all we know, it could be chock full of parabens, sulphates, silicone, polyquats, preserves, mineral oil and more! this is the wrong place too try and sell too!
I tried this routine yesterday, and I have say that I love the result! Instead of being in the shower for an hour washing my hair I was only in there for 20 min! Definitely saves product, time, and money! Thank you so much for this tutorial. My hair is detangled, shiny, and moisturized. I will continue to use this routine when I'm just doing a simple wash.
I'm a loyal user of Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Conditioner... I'm going to try out the Tea Tree Tingle. I feel like I'm cheating on the Nourish Spa. LOL!
Just did this cowash method for the first time and I'm in LOVE!!! It was so easy and FAST!!! Never thought I could have time to wash my hair on a work day! I'm gonna let it air dry in my Bantu knots overnight with no added product to see what my hair feels like in the morning!!! Love u naps!!!
Hair genius !!!! You gave my hair life you saved me from shaving my hair off. Thank you so much. I use to loose a hand full of hair every time I washed my hair. Not after trying this.
Hey Whitney! I tried this about two days ago. I used the same conditioner and I used olive oil as the oil you used. My hair is STILL soft and moisturized even though it's cold out here in Philly! I didn't even use any product after I got out of the shower. I just put my hair in curlformers. Before this, my ends were so crispy and dry that I felt like I couldn't wear my hair out. I have been rocking a soft fro thanks to you! You're a hair WIZARD!
I. LOVE. THIS. CO-WASH. METHOD. This was so fast, my hair stayed detangled (it always retangles during my normal wash routine), and most of all my hair feels great without any product in it. I have been trying to simplify my hair routine to maximize my growth and length retention. I think this cowash routine has made the cut! Thank you so much for posting this video. You're awesome!
***** *raises hand* I have a question: If you close the cuticle with aloe vera juice, wouldn't rinsing the oil under the water open them again? Or is the oil still sealing it?
OMG! I wanted to come back to thank you & send you a BIG HUG! I hope you feel it! :) I tried this and it was the easiest cowash experience ever. Plus, I didn't lose nearly as much hair as usual during detangling. I normally have at least, not joking, about 8-10 times more hair loss. I had accepted it as my normal amount of shed hair, but now I'm convinced that I've been ripping my hair out. I'm looking forward to using this method in the future. Thanks for the video! Keep doing what you do!
just follow all of her vids from beginning to end im a witness my hair is about 2 inches below my collar bone all thanks to nap when i found her i realized it was the products that were the problem and not my hair i wish i could personally thank her becuz with out this channel i would be bald or maybe permed THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHHH WHITNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My hair is much shorter and thinner than yours but I tried co-washing in sections because so many You-tubers do that. I'm amazed at how much easier the whole process has become! Great info as usual Whitney. Thanks! :)
After watching your videos for so long I decided to try this method. Absolutely love the results it left my hair. Best part I didn't even have to detangle after with comb. Con was that I feel like I went to slow and wasted water. I've got to get faster. Great video
I heart aloe vera juice! I do something similar on my wash days. After the whole shampoo, coconut oil rinse, and wash out conditioner steps, and once I'm out of the shower, I take the cold aloe vera juice and pour it into a spray bottle (just the amount for that moment). For each section, I spray the aloe vera juice, add about a quarter size amount of my olive oil-grapeseed oil mix to the section, and seal with my Giovanni's leave-in.
Ive watched this video a few times before but today I finally tried it for the first time. Washing and detangling was a breeeeeeze! I love your videos! Stay beautiful.
Wow, you are so patient with your hair. My hair is about the same length and I cannot fathom doing all of that. Lol, but this video encourages me to try it. Your hair is so beautiful!!
I tried this method last week and I love it! I'm always trying to find ways to have my hair nice and shiny and this changed the game for me. Thank you for that.
I absolutely love the Trader Joe's TTT conditioner. The slip, the softness, the definition it gives my curls and then at only $4 a bottle! I'm glad you got me hooked on it! ;1
Oh this is perfect for me, I will have to try it ASAP :) it never feels like I retained any moisture when I co-wash ( plus I've been spoiled with mud washes as of late) so I stopped, but let's try this for round 3! Thank you soo much for all of your awesomeness!
Trying this method right now, with Trader Joe's conditioner and all, but I'm sitting under a steamer while the condish and oil is in my hair, as I am low porosity. So far so good!
I love your posts I am so grateful to you for doing them. I am following you daily to learn more ways to take care of natural hair. I am also in love with my hair now that it is natural and I know how to take care of it.
This video right here is my goal! The bangs, the length, everything! I bought the tea tree tingle because of you, it makes my scalp fee so good! Though I have a dollar store shampoo brush to help with build up on my scalp.
Omg your face when some of the conditioner missed your hand was hilarious LOL. But I'm glad you posted a cowash routine without coconut oil since you no longer use it. I will definitely start cowashing 3 weeks out of the month and shampoo the 4th week since my hair and scalp gets so dry.
I love Bantu knots. They're great for everything and so so easy. This is how I like to cowash. Tho, since I recently bc'ed, I don't need the knots. The oil tip makes perfect sense. Thanks.
a friends daughter told me about your how to videos, and simply put......I love you....lol. I don't use the internet often, but I have fell inlove with blog. great job!!!!!! and thank you soooooo much for sharing
I have been following you since December of 2013. My hair has been growing so much! (THANKS) I have learned to embrace the shrinkage and even the tangles. I walked into my local shop where I purchase my hair products. I asked the clerk about dying my hair. She was so against it! I did try a rinse to cover my grey areas, but I want some color..? I don't want to interfere with my hair progress.
I have to say you sure do keep TH-cam popping for me.. I was scrolling down my list of subscribers and I was saying uhh no one uploads any quality videos...then I came across your page..Yes!! Whitney saves the day AGAIN!! what would I do without your channels?? thanks!!
I remember you saying you wanted to change up your hair... I think you should colour it! Your hair is so beautiful and I don't think hair dye is as bad as people make it out to be
So overly jealous of the thickness of your hair....amazing. My hair is thinning and i really dont know what to do anymore - Will look on your channel see if i can find anything
You are my saving grace! Been natural for I don't even know how long anymore and this is the first time my hair is as soft as a newborn. Thank you *happy tears*
LOVE LOVE LOVE this water saving method. My stands stay so perfectly moisturized for days I can't stop touching it. Great solution for my super low-porosity hair which clamps down and lets nothing in within minutes out of the shower. Re-moisturizing mid-week was always a hassle, water/oil/shea just rolls off my hair, like off a duck's back and unbraiding/untwisting always, always, meant breakage. We don't have Trader Joe's in Canada so for others in that situation, using Hello Hydration and an oil mix of choice works wonders too. Thank you so much for sharing this method. :) xo
I'm low porosity as well, have you found a better method to mid week moisturize your hair? It's kinda hard, as products sit on top of our strands already.
To moisturize between washes, I do a GHE (green house effect) during a workout (I tried doing GHE overnight but somehow I always wake up with a stuffy nose and a wet head in the morning, don't like it). So in detail, before my workout, I cover my head with a plastic cap and a scarf then I do my daily 30-minute workout. When i shower after my workout, i pass my hair under the jet one time just remove any major sweat. Once out of the shower I add my moisturizer (KCKT,castor and jojoba oil mix), seal with an oil and style as usual (usually a bun). It's a little gross I guess but it's the only way I can get my hair moisturized "just right" especially at the root; unlike spraying water which just sits on my hair or full on hair wash. During a workout or not though, greenhouse effect has been the best way for my low-to-no-porosity hair.
This helped me so much! Now that my hair is past my shoulders, I'm starting to notice that it is starting to look like it lacks moisture more. My hair is still frizzy( haven't been able to get rid of the frizz since my hot comb incident) but now after doing the co-wash it feels and looks healthy! Thank you so much!
Love your videos! So glad I found you and them! :-D For those with questions and suggestions, check her other videos first. This lady is the real deal and knows what she is doing. Everything I've tried so far has worked. My hair has never been healthier. The more I maintain, the better it gets and it actually gets easier and less time consuming. You made it fun! Thanks Whit!
omg! you just reminded me i bought a bottle of aloe vera juice and havent used it yet, its been a while, im due for a wash so i'm definitely doing all this this weekend!
Awesome and done! Best ever, I just removed my semi-mini twist and was looking for the best way detangle and then you uploaded this fabulousness! I did not shampoo our was my scale but I plan to do that next weekend, nevertheless all is well! Just wanted to say thank you Wendy!
wow. I just love watching you do your hair. I hope that doesn't make me weird. my hair is sort of like yours but not as long and thick. Okay it isn't like your hair at all. LOL
I wish I had your dedication to my hair, I keep my hair natural but I don't use all natural products, I wish I did though, I've tried a lot of your diy oils and deep conditioners and I absolutely love them, its just kind of time consuming and I don't have the patience
You're unbelievably inspiring! I love your videos, I always learn something new an they're fun to watch. When I get fed up of all the work it takes to maintain natural hair I browse through your videos (: xx
Gonna try this today. I'll also shampoo in between the parts. This seems promising. Can't tell you how tired I am of the water running cold on me. Thanks!
My water bill this month was RIIII-DICULOUS and for some reason I've never thought to co-wash outside of the shower. Will definitely be trying all of these steps…as soon as I take this weave out lol
I'm new to the natural club and my natural texture (curl pattern) confused me and I noticed..my hair is like yours. Thank goodness for this! I just need a little more time for length but this is crazy helpful thanks!
Blessings!
God bless you for adopting your daughter! I'm glad she can have a mom like you. =)
I think it's wonderful that you're learning/researching what's best for your daughter's hair!! You rock Momma!!
I just saw these! Thank you so much! That means a lot to be supported. Thanks! :-)
What a beautiful message!
You should be on television. Your tutorials are some of the best on the site.
TRUUUU
I so agree. Very very high quality videos. And she is hilarious and so is her hubby.
you are absolutely right. i would love to see Whitney on television 📺 spreading the word are proper natural hair care
Right!
I agree. her tips help as my hair has grown passed shoulders.
I love how you always explain things so promptly and clearly without excess chatter. Your hair is gorgeous! Oh I saw you last night on tv in a Shea Moisture commercial and I screamed! lol
Me too! I love that I don't have to fast forward twenty minutes to find the main point of the video. It's always straight and to the point
I agree :)
Soooooo, I just tried this using coconut oil, and Hello Hydration conditioner, unfortunately I didn't have aloe vera juice on hand. Nevertheless, This is THE most moisturized my hair has felt after a co-wash. Just amazing! Thanks Whitney!!!

I tried this method and now I am totally hooked. It works great for me and I use cheap Suave coconut conditioner and EVOO. Thanks for introducing me to my hair's best ever co-wash method. You Rock!
i tried this out with suave naturals everlasting sunshine conditioner, and i used aloe vera gel mixed with water and the results were amazing!
I swear, everytime I watch your videos it uplifts me and keeps me on track with my hair journey. You have such beautiful healthy hair.
In all honesty, what would I do without Naptural85
ditto that.
she's a blessing!!!!
Linda B that indeed!
so true! learned so much from her
You know, no matter how many co-wash tutorials I watch, yours are ALWAYS the most user-friendly. I really like simple and to-the-point routines for my hair (as I am VERY low maintenance, and generally only stray from wash-and-go's for a special occasion), and your hair routines are the best~!

Hi Whitney,

What I love about your channel is that you have remained true and CONSISTENT. As a viewer I really appreciate your authenticity. Keep it up girl!! :-)
I'm going to try this method for washing my hair. It's about BSL length, and I always find myself spending 30-45 minutes in the shower detangling and washing my hair. I always run out of hot water! This method looks better :)
I run out of hot water all the time, and my hair ain't even long. smh.
This is so smart. I never thought to do the conditioning outside the shower instead of doing the whole process in the shower, And those bangs are adorable!!
1. THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.
2. What texture is your hair?
3. THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.
She seems to be a 4a
She's a 4a but doesn't exactly go by the system and also she keeps her hair stretched 95% of the time . Hope this helped .
+Funanya Ikechukwu no she's not. 4b/c hair doesn't curl at all. If you want to see 4b/c hair Google lupita nyongo
it's on her channel under "about" she's 4a/b
+Shiny Sphinx 4b hair curls but 4b doesn't
Ive been fully natural for a little over a year and your vids have helped me ever step of the way, from transitioning til now. Thanks viv, keep up the good work!
I love your personality!
I love it and can't wait to reveal MY natural hair journey.

I finally went to Trader Joes to buy the conditioner (there are no TJ stores where I live) ...So I stocked up and bought 12 at once.
Hair genius !!!! You gave my hair life you saved me from shaving my hair off. Thank you so much. I use to loose a hand full of hair every time I washed my hair. Not after trying this.
lol @ keep your money in your bra! That's like what all girls dream of doing once they buy their first bra! lol!
Hey Whitney! I tried this about two days ago. I used the same conditioner and I used olive oil as the oil you used. My hair is STILL soft and moisturized even though it's cold out here in Philly! You take care if your hair so well ! Is amazing.
Hey Whitney, just finished this co-wash, THANK YOU!!!, first time I ever completed my hair in one setting. You are the HAIR ANGEL!!! Thank you.
I love your personality! I think I will try this method soon...
I. LOVE. THIS. CO-WASH.
Going natural makes for higher water bills.
Actually no cause if you only use a light silicone free conditioner you won't need to overly rinse suds out.
Your hair is the epitome of beautiful! I just cant believe how pretty your hair is.
***** *raises hand* I have a question: If you close the cuticle with aloe vera juice, wouldn't rinsing the oil under the water open them again? Or is the oil still sealing it?
You can always do the final rinse with cool water.
Wow i never thought of doing a Co-wash out of the shower on dry hair.....it makes so much sense! gosh ur a hair genius!
OMG! I freaking love thiiisssss!!!!!!
I love your videos & I LOVE that you add some humor instead of being a boring tutorial! Much love to you & your beautiful family!!
You must to through A LOT of conditioner. It looked like you used the entire bottle in just this video alone haha
OMG! I wanted to come back to thank you & send you a BIG HUG! I hope you feel it! :) I tried this and it was the easiest cowash experience ever. Plus, I didn't lose nearly as much hair as usual during detangling. I normally have at least, not joking, about 8-10 times more hair loss. i've been watchting your videos on you tube and i must say that that hair is been healthier ever since. Thank you for your advice Naptural85.
Great video
Head over heels for your hair and your kindness for sharing it with all of us.
I heart aloe vera juice! I do something similar on my wash days. Ive watched this video a few times before but today I finally tried it for the first time. Washing and detangling was a breeeeeeze! I love your videos! Stay beautiful.
oh my gahhhhhhh!!! your hair at the end gave me so much life!!!!! simply gorgeous!!!!
I tried this Saturday and I have the most luscious hair!!! Thanks for the tips. Kelp them coming!!
I love this process. Been doing this for 6 months now and my hair is moisturized! Thanks for sharing it!
Wow, you are so patient with your hair. My hair is about the same length and I cannot fathom doing all of that. Lol, but this video encourages me to try it. Your hair is so beautiful!!
The way you do your hair, you make it look so easy. My hair is natural also but it doesn't look like that. Just Beautiful!!!!
I tried this method last week and I love it! I'm always trying to find ways to have my hair nice and shiny and this changed the game for me. Thank you for that.
Same here, Kenyans represent. :) I am moving my whole family towards going natural. It's amazing!!
OH MY GOSH! your hair is so beautiful!
Reporting back in: this routine saved me a TON of time and a TON of hair. Implementing it officially into by regimen.
I absolutely love the Trader Joe's TTT conditioner. The slip, the softness, the definition it gives my curls and then at only $4 a bottle! I'm glad you got me hooked on it! ;1
The softest my hair has EVER FELT after bring washed. amazing.
I've been following your channel and truly you have showed me how to care for my two years natural hair. Thanks!
Oh this is perfect for me, I will have to try it ASAP :) it never feels like I retained any moisture when I co-wash ( plus I've been spoiled with mud washes as of late) so I stopped, but let's try this for round 3! Thank you soo much for all of your awesomeness!
Again Whitney, you have saved my hair, my sanity, and my time. Thanks for this!
LOL whitney you're getting more and more animated as you make videos! I LOVE it!! I remember you being so shy and reserved!
wow, oiling while rinsing after you put the conditioner in is SO SMART. Thanks! I'm definitely trying this for my hair :)
Naptural I love your hair! I recommend your videos to all naturals.
This video right here is my goal! The bangs, the length, everything! I bought the tea tree tingle because of you, it makes my scalp fee so good! Though I have a dollar store shampoo brush to help with build up on my scalp.
Love you Nap! you keep things simple, and mostly natural and I appreciate all your help, you're one of my biggest inspirations! Plz keep it up thnx
This hair?!?! Sweet Mother of Nature! Just AMAZING! Love This Co Wash Technique!
I love Bantu knots. They're great for everything and so so easy. This is how I like to cowash. Tho, since I recently bc'ed, I don't need the knots. The oil tip makes perfect sense. Thanks.
Can't believe I've never thought of this! I will be trying this on wash day. Thanks Whit!
a friends daughter told me about your how to videos, and simply put......I love you....lol. I don't use the internet often, but I have fell inlove with blog. great job!!!!!! and thank you soooooo much for sharing
I have been following you since December of 2013. My hair has been growing so much! (THANKS) I have learned to embrace the shrinkage and even the tangles. Look up MsVCharles on youtube she just done a tutorial on how to henna- naturally dye your hair.x
Im loving your videos! I've been making all my own products lately to help grow my hair back from stress and stress alopecia. Thank you for sharing
This method is awesome and worked wonders for moisturizing my hair! Thank you once again Whitney.
Love it Whitney! It's my wash day today! Must try cause you made it look sooo easy!!
My cowashing experiences have never been awesome, but this looks like something I should give a go. Thanks chica!
The best tutorial on cowashing I've watched yet!!! Thanks
Thanks for this video! This is the best cowash video I've seen. Followed this routine and my hair held so much moisture!

Did this today; and I didn't have to use a comb either (who would have thought)? This is an excellent regimen!
You're hair is beautiful. Thanks for making this vid. It's inspiring.
