It's at the very least implied that when we choose dialogue options for Kris it seems like our soul is really the one talking. For example, when we talk to Noelle at the hospital and we choose the dialogue option she specifically mentions how the voice sounded so terrifying that time.
@@MysticSlime another bit of evidence is that at the end of the spamton NEO fight, it says "Kris cried out for help" when calling for ralsei or susie, to no effect, but "You whispered Noelle's name" for noelle, which causes her to respond.
To be fair, if Noelle dies in this battle in the normal route she still sometimes has to pick up you pretending to drop your iq points, sooo yeah! ...But Donovan Smith has a good point still so
This is scary the fact noelle can hear player decision. Also remember when kris susie and ralsie dance? They ignore the player choice and make their own. So that mean something. They can make their own rules
@@connorschultz380 Until she rejects your commands, her determination levels should be lower than Ralsei´s, Susie clearly stands out though, since she can resist multiple choices you make and resist direct dequip commands.
@@sebas8225 again I feel like the "player" has no supernatural control over anyone besides perhaps kris, I think Noel just had issues, issues that were made apparent throughout the chapter
@@connorschultz380 Noelle isn't the only one we controlled. We also got to control Susie in Chapter 1. She even thinks she heard Kris tell her something during that sequence. After 2 chapters, there is a clear trend: the player has the ability to control any character. On the contrary, every character also has its own free will: Kris can rip their own soul, Susie makes her own choices (she often ignores our responses, and there's this time in Queen's mansion where Susie destroys every pottery by herself), Jevil and Spamton both implied that characters were puppets while they tried to free themselves from their own "strings". Noelle is also able to act of her own free will: there's a puzzle where you can zip her, if you do she will _zip you back_ and laugh. But as you said, she has confidence issues so she usually just obeys. Then there's all those references to voices. It is pretty clear there's something meta about this game, and not just through the main character. Our commands are litterally heard by the characters. Deltarune makes it a point that the player has the ability to control other characters than Kris (which is also why this game makes us fight with a _party)._ Besides, freedom is a clear theme in those two chapters. As if the story was about those characters trying to break free from our control, while we try to get more control over them. A battle of freedom.
I do believe Ralsei knows this is what can happen if you’re allowed to make choices, and is what he’s trying to prevent. This moment only happens at a time when you’re separated from him, so he doesn’t know it’s why Noelle is acting weird. He pushes the route of acting nice super hard. He insists Kris make the decisions and only acquiesces to acting in fights when Susie demands it. He seems aware of things like saving and the TP bar. He insists you not think about the Spamton fight, which is full of dialogue about freedom.
@@NiennaFan1 maybe not so explicitly, but something along those lines. Also possible that he was talking to Kris about a plan the player cannot know about that relates to what Kris does at the end of both chapters.
i wouldve been kinda worried if he did it. Although i didnt see much hate on Berdly, I actually saw everyone loving him (once u get deeper into the character u cant hate him that much). @@thehumanstunlock7588 Some don't believe that was confirmation. I certainly do, but I also see their point, at least a little bit. I have found several people over Reddit and TH-cam who, from what I can tell, believe this fountain making may have been a one time thing. That's certainly understandable, considering that we didn't see the last one being made, though there are obvious counters to that argument. I've seen one say that Kris could have learned then and there during the queen's monologue that he could create fountains as well. I doubt he'd ever want to bring the Roaring, but no-soul Kris might. That's also an understandable argument, but there is more than enough evidence to the contrary. It also makes sense, because Kris was unaccounted for the night before, for quite a while, and the first one was in their old play room with their brother, a place only they would really ever go to make a dark fountain. Sorry, not entirely related to what you said, just saying that not everyone believes it was a confirmation

@@kirbyfreakyt4695 it relates since chapter 1 and chapter 2 happen one day after the other. If kris went to bed at chapter 1. And the tv was unplugged. And chapter 2 morning it was plugged in. That means during chapter 1's ending, somewhere in the night, and I say it Kris. Plugged the tv back in. This relates to chapter 2's ending with the tv, which I think is giving commands to kris, the knight.
I've been thinking about this a lot how this point of no return is also i think a point where we hear the player and Kris. If the player is saying proceed. I like thinking that Kris is saying they are protecting her FROM US. TO us and not Berdley.
This has to have some narrative significance as to why Susie is acting like a free thinker all the time right? "Why does Kris always decide? Why can only Kris act?" Susie resists our influence and might be more important than we realize
Susie also cares for Kris a lot and Kris heals the most from Susie Tea, I have a feeling if there is ever a scene where we force Kris to fight Susie/ Susie finds out we’re controlling Kris and tries to stop us by fighting and it isn’t going to be pretty.
God this really shows how much of a monster you are because Berdly literally will not attack Noelle and just wants her to be safe while you are just having her kill everything in your path including Berdly
As people should feel bad. The game drives home the idea these aren't like typical games where you can kill without consequences, and deltarune takes it a step further by you choosing the necessary actions to be locked into snowgrave route, even when given so many options to back out from it before/during this battle.
@Fang Lazken AKA Ranshi Hey, please, don't be so toxic about that. I'm pretty sure nobody * forced * Toby Fox, it's probably just that quite a lot of people were trying to do a no-mercy run of deltarune ch1 after a pacifist one like they were expecting something new. @@zomboids2100 I think it was a bit overexaggerated in Undertale. Like, Monsters trying to kill your ass in Pacifist and Neutral is completely fine, but in Geno, you're apparently an asshole for doing so. Deltarune atleast gives you the option to let them taste their own medicine by fighting and not facing a big consequence by doing so. @@Adeyum64 "you're apparently an asshole for doing so." Well yes, you had the option to do otherwise. If that were self-defense, I would agree with you. This is like an animation I saw where Kris wasn't manipulating Noelle, it was the player and Kris was like a bit freaked out when Noelle casted snowgrave
This is creepier imo when we consider the fact that Noelle thinks that Kris is just pulling a prank gone too far, only now of all times does she realize part of what's at play. By then it is too late.
So, at the end, Berdly is asleep on the computer lab table. My theory is that here, he -was banished to the shadow realm- had his soul frozen in the dark realm.
fun fact: the music beats of the song in the game files if you sped up they are the same as the original berdly fight theme and the name of this snowgrave trial theme is called "berdly heart beats true" (if i remember) so that means that those are berdly heart beats , and then if the music stops that means that berdly heart stopped too...
Do you know if there is any special dialogue if Noelle gets downed while Kris is still alive? At 2:04 this seemed like it could have happened if you got hit once more.
The "theme" in this battle literally sounded like heartbeats to me. And after beating Snowgrave I just couldn't sleep properly. I literally felt like I killed someone, and that thought brought me freaking fear. And while it indeed is true, with Berdly being presumably dead, this felt a lot more real. I also literally had to take like a 30 minute break when pressuring Noelle to freeze the addison. Poor girl... I guess I get too attached to characters. Can't imagine how horrible I'd feel in UT genocide. And this is just the 2nd chapter. Toby is a Genius.
@@thiccuigi7880 Yeah I saw that afterwards. Kinda cool! And creepy. Also it has quite a strange name honestly, other weird one I'd say is "d" (which is right played right before Berdly on snowgrave)
I kinda think "their voice" is the voice of someone telling our commands to Noelle, rather than just being our voice. Our eternal partner, the demon that comes when people call its name. We'll be together forever.
Ah, within all those memes, finally a dose of nostalgia like in Undertale when the game made you depressed because you wanted to try what happens if you alt+f4 everyone in the fucking world.
I have a theroy that the player and gaster are same, they both manipulate characters use them as puppets , kris and spamton for an example. both of kris and spamton controlled by us and gaster, both of them tries to free themselves from us but that will result in them dying
I feel like it would be kind of cheap for it to turn out that we, as the player, are Gaster, among other reasons. I'm pretty sure he's a separate entity with similar goals. In fact, it can't be a total coincidence that you appear in Kris's life and begin to control him (apparently) directly after he creates the first Dark World, likely the day before Chapter 1. It seems to me as if Gaster has placed you as the puppet-master in charge of Kris to clean up his messes, but since Kris keeps creating Dark Worlds you're both stuck in a loop where the only thing Kris can do is create another Dark World at night and you have to spend your whole day getting rid of it. But some of that is probably wrong haha, back to the point I sincerely doubt that Gaster is you, especially taking into consideration the whole thing about creating your own form and then he tells you that you can't choose who you are and sends you to control Kris's body and all that Sure seems like Gaster is the one making choices around here, you're just a second-rate puppet-master
@@miriamk5571 what i meant player and gaster are the same is they both share the same power , they can manipulate time, characters, sure you and gaster are not the same character , most of what i said is probably wrong but who knows :p
I noticed something, in the first chapter Susie says that your decisions doesn't matter but she said that to Kris not the player, *but* Noelle's choices DO matter and we can use her for a while, in the Snowgrave route she is almost fully controlled by the player corrupting her. If we get full control of Noelle, it means that we are free to choose our own path which also means we can choose to do a true genocide route, but because we play as Kris our choices don't matter though we can still change the choices of other characters. all of this might lead to something similar to a Pacifist after a Genocide run but instead we are Chara in this situation. Well "downed" doesn't necessarily mean dead, as interesting as it is that the voice is seperate from Kris, characters could still be conscious enough either way to at least talk?
Possibly but its another piece of evidence that Kris is not in control
It's at the very least implied that when we choose dialogue options for Kris it seems like our soul is really the one talking. For example, when we talk to Noelle at the hospital and we choose the dialogue option she specifically mentions how the voice sounded so terrifying that time.
@@MysticSlime and she also said that she was listening to a voice unlike kris's
@@MysticSlime another bit of evidence is that at the end of the spamton NEO fight, it says "Kris cried out for help" when calling for ralsei or susie, to no effect, but "You whispered Noelle's name" for noelle, which causes her to respond.

Kris: **fucking ded**
This is scary the fact noelle can hear player decision. Also remember when kris susie and ralsie dance? They ignore the player choice and make their own. So that mean something. They can make their own rules
So can Noel- she's just super passive and can't say no to anyone, it's not that the player has mind control, Noel just has issues
@@Dante02d12 we don't control susuie in that scense she will always do the same thing. It's just a joke that the menu is up
I do believe Ralsei knows this is what can happen if you’re allowed to make choices, and is what he’s trying to prevent. This moment only happens at a time when you’re separated from him, so he doesn’t know it’s why Noelle is acting weird. He pushes the route of acting nice super hard.
Damn Toby Fox really want people to feel bad for taking a genocide route!
not even a genocide route since you dont even kill
you force someone else to take a genocide route which is even worse
As people should feel bad. Heck, you're already facing a consequence if you just kill one single enemy!
Deltarune atleast gives you the option to let them taste their own medicine by fighting and not facing a big consequence by doing so. Snowgrave is something you just can't do by accident, but normal fighting is. So like you said, it atleast gives you a good reason to let you feel like an ass.

So, at the end, Berdly is asleep on the computer lab table. My theory is that here, he -was banished to the shadow realm- had his soul frozen in the dark realm.
The music during the fight against Berdly sounds like the game was just waiting for you to use Snowgrave on Berdly.
fun fact: the music beats of the song in the game files if you sped up they are the same as the original berdly fight theme and the name of this snowgrave trial theme is called "berdly heart beats true" (if i remember) so that means that those are berdly heart beats , and then if the music stops that means that berdly heart stopped too...

Kris: *gets up* Ugh what happened? *sees berdly's frozen corpse* WH- BERDLY!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!!!!

Berdly hits Noelle at 2:04, so it might be possible to lose this fight
And again Kris faces the player after this, as if to judge them.
But some of that is probably wrong haha, back to the point
I sincerely doubt that Gaster is you, especially taking into consideration the whole thing about creating your own form and then he tells you that you can't choose who you are and sends you to control Kris's body and all that
