- Craig and I head to Maine for some fun. With nasty weather in the forecast we decide against plan A and opt for plan B. Which wasn't much of a plan at all. We were not backing out of a trip, that was not an option. Instead, a much less ambitious trip to an area we are familiar with. The plan being go with the flow for 10 days or see how much we were willing to take............

Great video and great trip despite dealing with non-ideal conditions. Your method of saving weight is legendary. .6 ounces of stir fry, .2 ounces of dehydrated rice, and a 3 pound flask of Jim Beam. Perfect! 😂. Best, Joe
I obsess over less so I can take more🤣
"No! I just wanted another beer. Why don't you calm the f**k down?" Gold!🤣
You just made my day! I am glad to hear you appreciate the humor. Have a great holiday weekend🍺
Wow, have a great time
It was a fantastic outing!
😂😂😂 "I feel like a hundred bucks"
I know how you feel.😂
IYKYK🤣🍺
Bugs, rain , wind, despite all of that, I really enjoyed this trip. I learn something every time I go on a canoe camping trip. Nice effort on this video ! See you soon man !
Craig, I agree with you about the Beatles lol
Have you ever tried ‘Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope’? Growing up in the Adirondacks and Vermont, that’s all we ever used 👍🏻 Made in Maine!
I'm glad you guys didn't get stuck on an island😂 the bugs would of drove me insane 😂😂😂
It is always a learning experience! That's why it stays fun. I love it! This was a very fun trip for me. Minus the bugs lol
@@ItsGoodintheWoods going on adventures like that is always fun because you never know what to expectand I used to smoke cigars every time I went fishing in the summer especially in the evenings when I went fishing for bull head
@@stevenhawk4356. That’s where all my cigars went ! LOL
Great channel, Good New England adventures. Also, the bourbon does help.
Bourbon!!
You had some nice looking fish there. Great trip, great video.
The fishing was on point this time around! It was fun
Pretty epic trip despite the rain & bugs.
Yes it was a fantastic trip!
Learned a new trout stick technique! Thx. Enjoyed the vid. And im with Crag on the Beetles.
Awesome! Give it a shot. It works very well. Tough crowd on the Beatles.....society has lost its way..🤣 Cheers man. Thanks for stopping by
I thought there was a reason I liked you !😂😂 Canoe camping adventures, YAY ! Beatles ,Boo !

New Brunswick Canada
Thank you very much and likewise!
Looks like it was another fantastic outing even with those buggers chewing on you! As always it’s a real pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks Justin!
Pete! How are you?! The bugs were relentless. But they were worth enduring. It was a fun trip!
Pete, there you are ! Love your new channel name ! Hop you have been well !
Great video...Always seeing the good side of life!
Thanks man!
Looked like a good time. Second that on the bugs. Love my fall winter camping. Good to have a buddy along and I don't mean Jim.😁😁 Although Jack has got me thru some spots. Take care, Al
You got that right! Fall and winter is coming!!!!!!
Awesome area to camp especially right by the lake my kinda style and remember tight line.
You got that right! Thank you
Hell yeah buddy this just made my morning watching this. It might have been from the couch, but there's worse things to do on a Sunday morning! If you're open for something in the Fall let's do it. For real.
Thanks for stopping by! How's being a step dad treating you 🤣
@ItsGoodintheWoods 😅🤣😅
Very nice video Justin! Just watched Craig’s as well. You two just experienced the most unpredictable weather Maine has to offer. You handled it well. Great video, nice moments and thanks for sharing!
That weather sure was something! Made for an interesting week.
Good company goes a long way an a trip like this one. We spent a lot of time under the tarp watching it rain
i do the same thing for some of my breakfast, the carnation in my coffee. i am jealous of the kayak/canoe camping. i've been a few times and love it.
Quick and easy! Pretty tasty too!
Amazing camp vlog.
Thank you very much!
Totally enjoyed this great trip and excellent video. These trips are a gem to watch. Agree about the bugs!
You were on fire catching fish. 👍
Thanks for sharing.
The bugs were insane and the fishing was good! Lots of fun on this one! I am glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm going up there in a few weeks. 5 or 6 nights. I got a boat, a hammock tent, a tarp, and most of the gear. its an amazing place!
Sounds like you are ready! Have a great time out there!
Despite the bugs, it looked like a great time! Good food and good drink. What's any better. Another great video Justin!
You got that right! This was fun! Thank you Larry
Muy relajante la lluvia 😊
Yes it is! I love the sound of rain
Great video man. Cheers 🍻
Thank you very much!🍺
I'll have to try out your method for cooking fish, looks cool. Great vid, guy.
It's fun. Simple and it works! Smoky deliciousness! What a treat
Great video man. Good on you for dealing with the black flys. I dont even bother going out during black fly season.
They are terrible little creatures.Absolutely relentless
The dynema tarps sure do have a unique sound in the rain. Almost drum like
I love it. It seems to bother a lot of people. But not me! Lol
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I’d have to say I agree
I grew up on Moosehead Lake. No better place in my opinion,. Just be careful that lake can be very dangerous. But hope you boys get up there sooner than later. Awesome video. Really enjoy it. Toughing the conditions like real men!
What an awesome area to grow up in! You are lucky
Nice! 🇺🇸
🇺🇸
Gorgeous trip!
Thank you very much
Such a beautiful area. Great trip man. Loved it
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video.
Fun fact, the first album I owed was the Beatles and it was a Xmas gift from Craig. Nice video and great fishing. Trillium looks nice on the water
Funny, I don’t remember that . 😂 Must of been the moment I realized there was actually good bands out there ! 🤣🤪
I know he is a closet fan. Absolutely loves Ringo
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I only have a small amount of respect for Ringo, only because he is a drummer. That’s where it ends !
@@MeetMeOutside 🤣 Ringo for life
“ Got up, got out of bed, and pulled a comb across my hair “
Cool video. Sometimes the best times are on trips close to home.
It is a 5 hour drive for me to get there. Not quite close, but close enough! Thanks for watching
@@ItsGoodintheWoods Gotcha! I’m blessed to live in an area rich in adventures, 5 hours NE will put you deep into the Appalachians, 5 hour SW will put you on the beach at the Gulf of Mexico, SE will put you in the Okefenokee Swamp, and NW will get you into Arkansas will plenty of camping, hunting, MTB, gravel riding, kayaking, and/or hiking.
@@mountainsnmoore256 Sounds like you picked your location wisely! Well done
@@ItsGoodintheWoods Just lucky to be born here! My great-great grandfather built the house where I was raised in 1912 and my family has been here ever since. 🤷🏻♂️ Just blessed to be here! My wife & I were actually just talking about starting a series of free things to do within “A Tank of Gas” of our house. We are actually filming today along the Tennessee RiverWalk in Chattanooga, TN. So our conversation this morning kind of spurred this along. 😎
Wow. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, very nice. Smallmouth bass, brookies over the fire, whiskey, even though it was Jim Beam..lol. I would have been in seventh heaven, minus the bugs. I'm going to have to plan a visit up there sometime.
Beatles suck 😂 I just about spit my coffee out! 😂
Heck ya man!! That would be a hoot! (You see what I did there🤣) I would love to do a trip with ya. Our buddy Mr. Backpacking with Jason Sir wants to come up and do a canoe trip as well.......we may have the makings of an incredible trip. I can even set you up with your own canoe. I have everything you would need. We have to talk more about this. Feel free to hit me up via email, or ask Jason for my number. Later dude
@@ItsGoodintheWoods Will do, Jason mentioned something to me about it a while back. I'll refresh his memory.
To be continued....
I’d love to see how you set up that tarp.
Thee community tarp, or the dyneema one over my hammock?
Awesome vid man! Enjoyed it a lot. New subscriber here!
Welcome aboard! Thank you for supporting the channel
Im with Craig on the Beatles, man. Good video though!
Craig loves Ringo
Another great video that I was anxiously waiting for. Cant win em all but good to see that you guys rolled with the punches and had another memorable trip, and able to return home safely afterwards.
and just wanna thank you for this new addiction that you have helped fuel in me. Swayed me to outdoor vitals so went with their -15 bag! Bring on some winter camping with NO BUGS!!
Stay well homie!
All things considered, I view this trip as a win. It was a real good time out there. Good company helps in a situation like this.
Congrats on your purchase. I am sure that bag will serve you well for years to come.......and winter is coming!!!!!!
Now that I am thinking about it, I have to say, sometimes these trips that throw some adversity at you, they end up becoming some very memorable trips. Looking back on it, this was a lot of fun.
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I fully agree ! Misery loves company wasn't a saying for nothing lol. Having someone brunt the storm with you makes it all worth while. And yes winter is coming! Might catch myself heading to some of your mountains after exploring some Michigan scenes . Have pictured rocks and porcupine mountains. But that's about it for elevation lol
I'll side with Justin on the Beatles. Also, you did much better with the fish this trip!
Finally! Someone else with a good taste in music! And the fishing!!!!!!
@@ItsGoodintheWoodsBoo
I like bourbon, too :p (Happy National Bourbon Day!)
What's up bud! Watch out for the big hairy man out there in Maine. Been alot of recent citings.
Hey man!! How are you? Just got back from a weekend in Maine....no big hairy man LOL Have a great 4th
Awesome video brotha beautiful area I'm so jealous. Thank you for sharing and thank you for all that you do. Almost forgot the awesome food porn too lol
And that peach fuzz wowza lookin good
Can't forget about the food bro!!!
Awesome trip, but you almost made me cry when you slopped hot sauce all over those beautifully fire roasted brookies.
The sauce was delicious!
Loved your video!!! Definitely going to try a few of these recipes. Where did you find your community tarp?
Buddy, that’s my Warbonnet Cloudburst 10 x11 silpoly tarp, I always bring a separate tarp to hang out under when rain is forecast , makes a huge difference ! Cheers
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Craig brought the tarp. Thank you for watching
... Awesome location ... Awesome camp setup ... A couple days of R & R and willing fish to boot .. can't ask for more ... Great method of fire cooking fish ,, wrap a couple pieces of bacon around it with a slice of lemon inside with lemon pepper seasoning ,, Brookie never taste so good .... similar fix for the Bass but wrap loosely in foil and set in the coals .. Poached to perfection ...
.. Great looking canoe ,, what make/model is it ?? prefer double paddle ?? .. .... Beatles OK ,, bugs SUCK !! .... Stay Safe ...
The willing fish really enhanced the experience. I like to BBQ trout in foil just as you mentioned when I am home. Absolutely delicious. I have yet to eat a bass. I think about it a lot, but I hear a lot of conflicting opinions about them. And I don't want to kill one just to take a bite and not like it. I need to try a bite or two from someone that is doing it. How many bass have you eaten?
The canoe I used on this trip is my Northstar Trillium in the carbon stealth layup. Weighs in at 21lbs. It's a nice canoe, I like it a lot. Just got it this spring. I prefer double paddle when I am doing any sort of distance and when it is windy. It's much more efficient. That said, I have a fondness for the single blade as well. Depends on circumstance and my mood. Beatles are Fantastic! Bugs suck a$$.
Thanks for watching and the awesome comment. Cheers man
.. Thanks for the reply.. Yes sir ,, Bass are awesome poached .. have had many .. at least largemouth ,, smallmouth are just too much fun to catch I couldn't keep one off the opposing team ...
Mind if I ride along? These adventures look awesome!~ Thanks!!
Welcome aboard friend!
What was that upside down water collector? Was it dripping condensation into the bottle?
That is a water filter
New sub. Please upload more than once every three weeks this channel is gunna blow up if you do
II try to post as frequently as I can. All depends on how much adulting I have to do between videos Lol. Thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel. I appreciate your support.
Katahdin is great, which lakes did you start from?
It's an amazing place. We started on Ambejesus lake
We are heading to Canada in a month and the black flies bit me through my mesh tennis shoes the last time we were there. And the mosquitoes congregate and at 9 pm then bombard you
They can be absolutely brutal. Certainly puts a damper on things if you are not prepared. I hope you guys have a fantastic trip in Canada. I hope no fires ruin your trip🤞🏻
Great video, love Maine! Nice trip! What containers did you use for the Jim B? I'm a Jim guy myself!
Maine is awesome! We both use Nalgene flasks for the booze! They work well.
@@ItsGoodintheWoods thanks pal! I’m going to order one!
justin, what type of seat do you have in your canoe?
I use a crazy creek back rest. Light weight and very supportive. Straps right over the canoe seat easily. And the chair can be used at camp as well. Absolutely worth having. Here is a link to the one I use.www.rei.com/product/199537/crazy-creek-original-chair?sku=1995370001&store=26&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_1995370001%7C92700065035259038%7CNB%7C71700000074090493&gclid=CjwKCAjwyqWkBhBMEiwAp2yUFuX05N0H4_01ASQy0R7dcFYmrOxy-udiu3kaD1iuXbvh90IkNAm2LBoCuH0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Can you tell me the name or maybe the link where I can purchase that head net you guys have on?
I sure can! Here is the link to the exact net I use. This is not an affiliate link. www.cabelas.com/shop/en/coghlans-head-net

@@alexandrebanks01 you are welcome
We have a place in Greenville Maine. What lake is this?
This was on Pemadumcook lake. We were camping at the Nahmakanta outlet campsite
Loody he hates the beatles 😢😢😢 gutted
Yep. It's heartbreaking lol
Nice couple massachusetts boys out in the woods what's drinking booze eaten trout and hot dogs
Im from NH....Craig on the other hand....masshole🤣
@@ItsGoodintheWoodsWatch you’re mouth you little hippie ! 🤣😂
Awesome vid man!
Thanks man!
As a personal preference, I'd rather have the small mouth as the trout, they taste better to me.
I have to say, that is the first time I have heard that. I have yet to try smallmouth. What is your favorite way to cook it?
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I scale it and gut it, rub it with some olive oil or butter, season it, place it in a roasting basket, put it over some hot coals. It absorbs the smoky flavor just like the trout, the skin gets crispy. Or you can fillet it and bread it and fry it. But my favorite and less messy way is roasting. You could use the same method you used with the trout. You need to try it sometime. Comment me back when you do and let me know if you liked it.
hahahaha Beatles do SUCK tho
🤣
Rolling Stones > The Beatles
I have to agree with Craig about the Beatles BUT I have a legitimate reason….I worked at a big club in Ft Liquordale Florida back in the 80’s and the house band was a Beatles tribute band. 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, nothing but Beatles music 🤪🫨😵💫😆
Have you ever tried ‘Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope’? That stuff works! Made in Maine
I don't think I could tolerate a tribute band🤣 I have not tried the Old time woodsman. I try to steer clear of bug dope. But sometimes it is good to have. I will look into it. Thank you for the suggestion
