    STORY
    -----------
    In this hidden location, we discovered an abandoned house that has been left to decay for over a decade. But what makes this house special is that it was once the cherished home of a Polish American family, the Stefans, who immigrated to the USA in search of a better life.
    Jan Stefan and his wife Jadigwa arrived in the United States with nothing but their dreams and hopes for a brighter future. They established themselves in their adopted homeland, building a home that reflected their love and commitment to their new country. However, something terrible happened to this family, and they vanished without a trace, leaving behind everything they owned.
    In this TH-cam series, we take you on a journey to explore the remnants of their lives, piecing together the clues left behind in this desolate house. As we delve deeper into the enigmatic world of this family, we are left with a haunting mystery that has remained unsolved for over a decade.
    Join us as we uncover the secrets of this forgotten house and the tragic fate of the Stefans. Discover the untold story of a family who embraced the American dream, only to disappear without a trace. Don't miss out on this captivating journey.

    I am 82 alone now with all my family passed. My brother just in January. From my point of view (at my age) it's best to get rid of items you don't want rather than let them going to waste....give them to someone who can use them and appreciares the nice decro-da items. Another interesting documentary Leslie, and as always much appreciated.

      In the city where I live, I've noticed that some people die with houses totally full to the brim. I see their younger families renting dumpsters for months to empty out one house. I asked and they said the person who died was 89 years old. I think people wait until their health is too bad to get rid of things, so they die with house full. Or maybe they never wanted to get rid of anything. There are people like that. They are very attached to their things.

      I bet you have so many timeless memories of chapters we could learn about where young people have no idea how hard times were.. Life is to easy today. Food then didn't come frozen ready made to warm up, people worked and prepared a dinner. People didn't throw something out because it was broken and knew they could order another better one.. Back then you learned to set and visit with your loved ones because no phone could bring you together like today's times. People had to travel to see one another, they wrote letters with feelings!

    As people get older and older, many start having separate bedrooms to get better sleep, especially if one has a severe snoring problem. Very common in the States.

    These types of abandonments usually involve the death of one parent, then the death of the other, and the children/grandchildren living far away. The children/grandchildren come back for the funeral and then go back to the house. Cleanup begins, they get overwhelmed and end up taking whatever personal property they can carry, intending to return at a later date, but then life happens. They probably still intend to return. But then family members disagree over something and everything must wait for a mutual agreement so distribution of the property can proceed.

      Sad to see it waisting away. If they just sold it n divided the money or out names in a hat on similar price n draw out names for each piece. That takes away arguments. My mum family did that with 7 blocks of land when their mother died. Mum go the smallest but was a corner on the top of hill. So way equivalent in value.
      You can’t take anything with you when you die.
      I would have thought gifting property would save death duties n make life easier for next generation. But then parent would be afraid of losing comfortable home if children move them out. It’s happened. A friend had that happen. Very sad.
      Regards M

    Hi Lesley and Danny. It's a bit of a sad story. In her last note, Jadwiga wrote that her son told her that she is a stinky mother, that he was ashamed of them, and that he and Janina, daughter-in-law, had enough of them. "my dearest son said it to me" I my opinion they returned to Poland, since they were no longer needed by anyone there. Polish parents unconditionally love their children, educate them and work for them even when they are adults and have their own families. They usually don't always get that love back from them.

    • @maurad5378

      So sad. My thoughts are one of them passed away given their age in the photo. Cups on the dining room table, coffee pot next to vodka indicates visitors after funeral. Given the note, there son never returned her. Maybe mother went to a nursing home. Perhaps friends helped to pack but son never returned.

    So many lovely things left behind. You commented on Polish cooking and my mind immediately thought of a tiny little home where I installed a satellite. The women were making blueberry pierogi in a teeny tiny kitchen and when I said I never heard of them, there was a plate each waiting for us once the job was done. They were the most amazing things I have eaten. They were so proud and pleased. Sending us off with more even when we protested lol

      ❤beautiful exploration. Still I am concerned about the parents that were left as son and wife returned to Poland. Electricity can not stay on here without the charges being paid. Two months is maximum and the power company cuts power off to the home. If they had a big enough bank account it could be drafted out each month. Charges would be low if no one was living there. If that is it I suspect foul play.

    If property taxes aren't paid in the U.S. the county will take possession of the property and auction it off. Someone must be paying the taxes. The house could still be saved. I loved the large porch and it looked like a nice quiet and peaceful property. It makes me sad to see that it was abandoned and no one took care of the belongings. Usually abandoned properties in the U.S. are vandalized and stuff is stolen. I was surprised to see it in such good shape. Thanks for another great exploration. Take care Leslie and Morino.

    Thank you for another wonderful adventure Lesley! That clock is called an anniversary clock because the German who created it worked the suspension system in such a way that, it is told, he didn’t have to wind it for a year. A torsion pendulum keeps the clock running as the globes spin all the way in one direction then recoil and spun the other. I have one that has been going for eleven months now on one winding!

    A pendulum clock is one that only goes from one side to the other keeping time.
    The clock you showed I’d called an Anniversary Clock and used to have a glass dome over it. These have the three sided time keeper, meaning it comes from a center and splits into three but still of one. If I remember correctly these swirl to one side then the other, kind of back to front but in a type of circle. I hope that this made sense to you. You can always look up Anniversary Clock to see how it operates.

      @@RetroCaptain I totally understand the work thing. Most small towns in the US were located near a factory and a rail system. That’s how our small town was incorporated. But it doesn’t mean that these houses have to be abandoned. My mother in law and father in law live in her Mother’s house after granny passed away. We live right next door in my husband’s great aunt’s house. We bought it when she passed away. We don’t have any major factories here anymore but most young people have learned other trades or businesses. I worked at our local hospital. I’m glad we could save these two little houses. My husbands aunt could not have children. We have raised two girls here. She would be so excited to know that. These family homes are so special but not everyone feels that way.

    By the looks of their home, they seem to have money. Most people set their bills up to withdraw from their bank account when due. It seems that wherever you explore the houses usually have pianos, some more than one. One of the reasons might be that a piano is one of the most awkward things to move, very top heavy.

    It looks like she may have made ceramics as a hobby. My mother did ceramics in the 90s and ducks seemed to be a popular thing then. And the ceramic Christmas tree is another popular one. Next time you venture to this continent in the winter, get some "hot paws" mitts and hats 😀. Frostbite is not fun. Great tour as usual.

    Always wonderful to explore abandoned homes. It’s almost as if the family were coming back, even though they are not when the power is still left on. Hopefully, someone could buy and restore the home one day before it is totally to far gone on repairing. I enjoyed your video, and hope to see more.

    Most elderly couples usually sleep in separate beds or rooms, mine did, mum couldn't handle dad's loud snoring! What a lovely home they made after fleeing Europe at the end of war! All that beautiful china and glassware and beautiful furniture left behind to rot by a very uncaring son and daughter in law is so sad ! They could have sold it and the house if the parents left or passed away, l will never understand why people disrespect their parents and don't care what happens to the belongings and houses! Loved the chandeliers and light fittings too. Greetings from Australia. 🦘😉😊😟🤑🥺🥰

    • @Cheetoluv
      @Cheetoluv ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if they sold it for less than it’s value, it would be better than letting it sit and rot away! Sell it to someone for a dollar if nothing is owed on it would be better than the way it is deteriorating now.

      If something would have happened the police would have investigated it. Look at the beginning of the video. They just pulled over and a cop stopped. Im surprised that one didn't show up as they were going through the house. The footprints in the snow would make them Wonder who was in there. I'm sure they know it's empty.

    There are many other scenarios of what stories this house holds. . If the husband died in 2001, evidently she lived here without him for about 9 years. The son who probably lives away from her probably saw about her. He might have had to move her closer to him and put her in a home in 2011. She could have had dementia, Alzheimer’s or mental illness causing her to write that kind of note which probably wasn’t true. Someone has been taking care of this house for 12 years. Maybe the son had been using it as a summer retreat because of the clothes in the closets. He could have been packing things a little at a time hence the trash bags. They could have been filled with personal papers and trash such as things he didn’t want to keep. I used to do estate sales and have had to clean out personal things that couldn’t be sold. That can take up a lot of trash bags. Someone mentioned there wasn’t cobwebs or dust on the glassware. I’m of the impression someone has been taking care of the house especially since the electricity is still on. The hot water tank in the basement looked fairly new. There was a beautiful set of Kings Crown glassware in the China cabinet. It reminded him of his mother in better times so he left it. Also, why would that note be left. Evidently it didn’t offend him or he would have thrown it away. Maybe it was a reminder of why a loving mother would become angry and mean in her old age. So many things to think about.

      Man thats one big massive assumption you made. How do you know the op wasn't telling the truth. How do you know she had dementia and was making things up what her son had said about her. Umm you don't. Or are you Janina?

    • @FiveElements00
      @FiveElements00 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have noticed that many Americans have no clue the value of antique furniture, and they don't want it either. Everyone in my family lives in a newer house with modern day furniture and I gather from what they say, they wouldn't want anything from the past. They call it "old." They are missing out. I have discovered the beauty and value of the past, and I am greatly enjoying it myself.
