@toddclyne3493 I was under the impression that your channel was monetized. My bad. But the love of doing these videos is definitely apparent. You have some great content.
Not a Polaris fan, but I'm now a Todd Clyne fan! Sir you are all ACES. Your honesty, and straight foward candour is simply AWESOME. Keep build videos coming.
LOVE these detailed engine assembly videos! They were a major help in building my SPX. Wrapping up my build, and I’m appreciating how much more enjoyable the actual motor work is. Getting all the rest of the parts back together has been not so fun(repairing broken wires, routing hoses/wires properly, etc. Ready for first 🔥 soon, though!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Cheers Todd 🍻🍻🍻 Good video! Love the way you explain things as you are doing them! Keep it up! 👍 One thing I might suggest, and it’s kinda too late now🙄, is to put in a pulse line fitting while it’s all apart. I know it’s an RXL, but if you ever decide to switch to carbs in the future then it would already be done and save a ton of work 🤷🏻♂️ Cheers 🍻
Nice catch on the counter weight, seen that a million times. Pure 1000ft drag sled, I'd say weld it, but the problem is that it then just transfers all the load to the next weakest part, which is generally the rod, so when that breaks, it'll sawzall the case every time. That's why in general, I'm not a fan of welding the crank pins. Better to let them twist out of phase and save it all for a rebuild. We saw the most troubles with the '91 RXLs, but in general new battery every year, keep the expensive fuel filters changed, keep the TPS and throttle end play in spec, fresh clutches, they'll generally be reliable. However, 30+ years old electronics is always gonna be a gamble!
Great job Todd. Funny. I rebuilt a 76 Rupp last year. Same problem. I try to be so organized. And end up spending so much time tracking down parts. I feel your pain. Its like a brain tease. And the parts are usually right in front of me. So frustrating.
Todd what is the brand and part number of the the motocross bars you use? I want to put a set on my '96 ULTRA. Your videos are gold, by far the best Polaris triple content on TH-cam!
What in your opinion is the best triple from Polaris? Power and reliability and just great for trails, I have a 97 600 purple top triple and love it and been driving it for the last 4000 miles .
Hey Todd, love watching your videos! I have a 1997 ultra 680 it smokes a lot, really ALOT, when running. I put a new seal on the oil pump last year thinking oil could be seeping direct into the crankcase through there? Do you have any other thoughts on why the oil consumption is so high? I have the 4th oil line from factory maybe could put a restrictor in there? Keep up the great work thanks again!
Hey my friend, is the bolt circle on the 650 flywheel the same as the xcr motors? I'm going to have a bolt on handle made to hold the crank when torquing the nut if you're interested in one I'll have the advanced welding class at school cut two on the plasma table and send one to you .
I like your videos of the triples. Is that you making exhaust? I bought a 97 600 XLT RMK. currently has triple slp's The pictures i seen on either Facebook or marketplace show a stainless hub welded to a stainless can. Do you makes the same that would fit in the belly three times. My grandaughter rides the tripple and I would like to be able to change the exhaust for her while trail riding.
What were the main fails with the RXL 650s? I cant remember. I have a friend that had a 500 efi and put 10 thousand miles on it with no issues. They were bulletproof. But not the 650s.
Could the pto bearing failures be due to too much torque on the end of the crank? Kinda like what the 800 liberty had problems with snapping the crank. More oil/better flow to the bearings won't hurt but that might explain why the crank was pulling apart on that end too.
My email or if would like to help out on the builds polaris.trashcan@gmail.com

I wish it was a source of income. I'm sure other channels can agree we do this for the love. 😁

For all of the machines you have rescued over the years, it's about darn time you get some nice zinc plated OEM hardware. Man that looks day 1. 🍻❄️
I know right 😂
Excellent tutorial! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with those of us wanting to learn more about our beloved greasy triples!

Dang you have had a lot of sleds 😁
I think the shop cat was playing with that socket. Lol! Great content Todd, sure appreciate it. Cheers brother.🍻🍻🍻
🤔🤔 maybe so. 🍻🍻

Great Idea. Most of the cases I have already are drilled and tapped for one with a threaded plug installed. Maybe not all had them?
Great educational video!
Thank you ❤650's
Thank you too
Love the build videos todd. You have so much info on these triples
Just trying to share what I have learned the hard way 😂
🔥heck ya.. just got in, was out all day riding and cuttin wood.. -30 thus morning. Sled was ripping last night, they love that cold eh🔥👊🔥🏍🔨⚙️⚠️
😂😂 dang pulling the skis cold out
Gotta love those Zinc coated factory bolt.
Gold to me

😂😂 I hear yeah
Good times, my 95 xcr 600 crank went out got new one from factory, had Bill Bune weld it then put back together
Nice
Great video 👍🏼 many thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Nice work 👍
Thanks 👍
Todd I always use three bond on the end cap
It's definitely an option. Just kinda sucks to take off versus a gasket.
I had one of these once. Lots of power extreamly hard on fuel and a soft crank . Dont stud your track if you dont want to bend that crank
Oh, that's good to know
Dont worry Todd, stuff gets moved around my garage without touching it too. I like to think its my grandpa messing with me. Lol
😂😂 same here
I knew that I've been saving all of those bad bearing cranks for some reason.
😁
Hi Todd. Off topic but your shirt is inside out😊
No way 😲 😂😂
This way he can wear the same shirt to church in the morning!
Yeah Todd, it's always at the last place you look!!!
😂😂 sure seems that way

Thanks so much. They are a 25 dollar set of bars that I get from Denise kirk . Honda cr125
Love the videos todd
Another super video, Todd! You guys got any snow yet? We rode 180 miles yesterday in SE WI. Trails were great! Cheers!
Not yet!

The XLT I would have to say. Best years I don't know but I was really happy with my 94 580

Ultras just seem to go through oil. Ours do. About 2 quarts in a 100 miles
Ah! That’s right about where I’m at too, thanks!

That would be fantastic. I use the same puller on every flywheel. So they are the same. Oversize the holes by a 1/16

I make a few but nothing custom per say
Ok thanks for the update. My son and I have been doing things together like you and your boy . Keep them coming

I think mainly electrical issues

Possibly
Todd do have any bad jugs for the rxl 650 you be willing to part with
Not at this time. Oh I have plenty 😂
Здравствуйте для чего отверстия в коленвале ? Они его облегчают ?
Why do you not use any Lock tite?
On what?
How much snow do you guys have! I think since you said you going to go riding.........
Zero to speak of
Dam here in frankfort indiana we pick about 4 inches of snow ❄ last night. Seen 2 snowmobiles out yesterday evening.....
