@@AntoineBandele I'm sad that these videos don't get the attention they deserve. It helps everyone so much more to understand the timeline that this series has. With your videos I get e.g. a sense of time for the turn of the year from 99AG to 100AG. How often do we discuss in the German Avatar Wiki whether there is a lunisolar calendar or a solar calendar (a Chinese one) or even another one. So it is a shame that the last season cannot be discussed due to insufficient response. I can imagine how much work it takes to get an appealing video out of the topic. I will definitely recommend the video to everyone who knows Avatar.
Aang's "teleportation" could be at least partially explained by Appa's speed being possibly increased by having only one rider and no saddle. I know 2 days to a few hours is a big stretch, even with the huge decrease in weight, but it's a possibility. Maybe.
One thing that nobody else seams to have noticed. Not a single character has a birthday. Almost a year and nobody gaining a year. So all characters have birthday withing very few days
Not exactly true. Yue celebrates her 16th birthday in "The Waterbending Master", Hope celebrates her 0th birthday in "The Serpent's Pass" and Prince Lu Ten's birthday is celebrated in "The Tales of Ba Sing Se"
i LOVE these vids you've made for the timeline, it's super cool to see a breakdown and really puts into perspective how little time the gaang had to do everything that they did. i saw in another comment why you havent made one for book 3 and i totally understand, i hope one day you can come back to this series, and if not then i know i and i'm sure a lot of other ppl here would love to see whatever notes or a written timeline if you ever feel like it's worth it!! ultimately tho thx for all the hard work and time u put into making the vids for book 1 and 2, i super enjoy the way you formatted and edited it so not only is it hella informative but it's also enjoyable to watch :D

39:42 Becouse of lighting and etc., it feels like late evening, and scene in train looks like it's morning. Isn't they spent night, before showing evidences to king? Also, I think Zuko's desease starts at the same morning (If you saw this comment, but already finished third video, just put one more day in the end, if I'm right)
The raid on storming of the palace in the episode THE EARTH KING it is dusk but when they are on the train and at lake lougi it is about midday. Meaning there should be an extra day added to Thai count. Love this video Antoine ❤️
Wait, I’m confused. Can someone help explain to me how Appa was captured on March 18th, but then it jumps to him being in Ba Sing Se on April 28th? If it’s exactly 4 weeks ago from Momo’s Tale, then shouldn’t it be on April 15th (or the night before) instead?
Did you already sign up to my e-mail list? Folks get this stuff early ( www.antoinebandele.com/stay-in-touch ) I also have a beta reader sign-up ( docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSckCP62fvXgdWxTTtjSq8atUntI16M0AJFKlJmYKhsffDMCGw/viewform?usp=sf_link )
One change I’d make for Appa’s lost days: They journey from the Air Temple to Ba Sing Se was likely around a week (like the way there), meaning Momo’s story took place earlier and Appa spent the remaining time imprisoned at Lake Laogai.
it's probably already been pointed out but zuko and iroh didn't cut their hair to disguise themselves! it was an act of rebellion, shedding themselves of their connection to the fire nation. just felt i had to say that!! awesome videos by the way, the details and depth are amazing!
3:00 Alternatively, perhaps they spent a week and a half after the Siege continuing their water bending training, then the next week and a half flying south
Book three would have an interesting timeline, as it’s two weeks between The Puppetmaster and The Day of the Black Sun (only two episodes), but the same time period between that and The Southern Raiders (a gap of five episodes). Not to mention that they cross impossibly long distances in a short amount of time. In the finale the Gaang somehow manages to travel from Ember Island to Ba Sing Se and then back to the Fire Nation in less than three days, a journey that took weeks in book 1 and 2.
And who can forget the avatar assembly in episode 7, where friends and enemies unite against a common evil. Katara, Toph, Zuko, Aang, Iroh, and Sokka -representing water, earth, fire, air, lightning/Qi, and martial prowess- face down the psychotic azula after Iroh and toph share a heart to heart over tea. A truly beautiful moment
Okay, so after learning that book 3 is on hiartus, I did some minimal research and honestly I HATE IT. So starting May 12, when the last episode of season 2 happens, "a few weeks passed" which can mean anything from May 26th, June 2nd or June 9th when Aang wakes up. So, with that in mind, the next episode with a concrete date is episode 6, which happens on the summer solstice (June 20th). Next concrete date is epiose 9, on JULY 28th (the day of the Black Sun is on August 1st, and they are "four days ahead of schedule"). So in the span of two episodes, a whole month passes. The second half of the season takes place about over a month, as I determined "the end of summer" as August 30th. So episode 10 until episode 21, all takes place in August. I wasn't able to be quiet as exact as you, but I personally didn't need an exact timeline, just the outline of the first half of the season.
You'll see it as soon as this vid gets at least 50k. Just can't put too much effort into something that gives me no return. And these particular videos take a lot of effort.
Isn't Tales of Ba Sijng Se suppose to take place over the course of a single day? I mean, it goes from morning to day to evening to night. EDIT: 37:21 OOOOH, good point right there!
If you ever do book 3, someone should make a program called “What did the Avatar do on this day”, where it works out what happened on the corresponding day (excluding dates from September to November as the series doesn’t take place on those dates and would therefore just say “Sokka and Katara were at the South Pole” for 99 BG or “The Gaang was doing war recovery stuff” for 100 BG).
For example: On my Birthday, Sokka and Zuko broke out of the Boiling Rock (most likely considering the date of the Eclipse and that the Full Moon was next episode).
I always pictured it was another night during the serpents pass. Just too much happens for a singular day (they travel the remaining half of the Serpents Pass, they deliver a baby, they walk to Ba Sing Se and defeat the drill), so I think it would’ve made more sense if they spent a night after the baby was born before making the final leg to Ba Sing Se.
For episode 1, it seems like everyone has either forgotten or wasn’t paying attention to the fact that Aang’s avatar state in the North Pole was greatly influenced by direct contact with the vengeful and powerful Ocean spirit. I doubt the avatar state alone would enable him to summon a kaiju
A solution to the general saying they’ll invade in three months is they’re referring to their first strike instead of the eclipse. I assume that their plan was to invade one of the outer islands sometime in July, establish a footing their to assemble their army and resupply, and a few weeks later on August 1 they’d invade the main island and kill the Firelord.
The people can Kung fu the elements and your hung up on teleportation, just assume it’s an Avatar ability Aang uses once AND NEVER AGAIN because...plot
Let’s also remember the fact that Sokka has every form of game in the book. Tai Lee the Qi empath thinks he’s cute; Yue, the spiritual embodiment of the moon and princess of the water tribe, was in pieces since they “couldn’t” be together; toph, the god of earthbenders, was willing to kiss suki believing it was him; and Suki the warrior maiden is getting her cheeks clapped
Technically speaking, Zuko Alone should take place during the same time as The Blind Bandit and The Chase (until Zuko catches up with them), so the dates after Zuko Alone might actually be a little bit earlier by a few days, give or take...
I don’t think Aang teleports. On the day of Sozin’s comet Appa travels from Ba Sing Se to the fire nation in a day so I think Appa’s top speed is much faster than his average probably because he doesn’t want people to fall of his back

However, you skipped a day again from March 11th to March 13th and left the day counter behind in the time skip from April 1st to April 28th (counting only 21 days). In the end, you only counted 19 days from May 19th to June 9th. Fixing everything up and having the calendar as reference, that should've been day 193. Also, it might be me being picky, but didn't Azula's lightning hit Aang's foot and leave through his back?
Are you planning on doing a timeline video about the graphic novels? I've just reread them and i don't think what the author said and what's actually shown lines up. Once Team Avatar left Omashu, what was their goal? It seems like they were flying around randomly looking for an Earthbending teacher. After picking up Toph, they continue their journey and again don’t seem to have a clear goal. Does anyone have an answer to this?
3:40 3 elements, at that point I would say that Aang definitely isn’t a master of Water, at least not to the level of waterbending we saw in the northern water tribe.

I want to point out something I have in mind but may not be true Who’s to say all the nations use the same colander? As far as we know before the 100 year war there was barely any connection between the nations, they all developed on their own and can very easily develop their own calendars. So the calendar in Wan shi tong’s library might be a water tribe calendar or an air nomad calendar, not fire nation because.... the fire nation info is all gone Just a thought
