Elvis was inspired by the women in jeans he saw all around New York City in 1968, and eventually wrote this song which was later re-written with new lyrics after a trip to Chicago in the winter of 1968.

The New England Patriots actually used his facial profile as a template for their logo. If you look at the bone structure of their logo, that's Elvis.
