I can't believe how wild mr King's youth was, I am happy he came out of it in one piece after all!

I believe it. He still has that mischievous sparkle in his eye.

Hey Daniel, I' ve been a fan for about 3 years and I wanted to say that you are by far the best chess channel on TH-cam. I've even watched some of your old commentating on 90s chess matches (like the Kasparov-Anand match) and I am always amazed at how you provide both narration and great analysis at the same time.
I don't know if you 'll have the time but a little suggestion of mine would be making more diverse content like small introductions to chess openings, puzzles, live blitz etc.
Keep up the great work, greetings from Greece

Thank you. Diverse content? There is a whole range of material on this channel already! Please check out the playlists. And don't forget the Power Play DVDs available from the ChessBase online shop: shop.chessbase.com/en/authors/daniel_king

Nice! But I think the most exciting example is Tim Wall vs Dean Ippolito, Hampstead 1998. A real hark back to the days of Romanticism and Adolf Anderssen. Double rook sacrifice the lot.

This was a fine pair of videos, taking the ideas of one recent game and building on it, but going off in an entirely new and unexpected direction in the second, all the while giving us concepts, history, and most of all, your remarkable grandmaster train of thought and boundless interest in the royal game, whether played by a human or a computer (or under the influence of a bong cloud). You and your webmaster give us the best again and again and again, and your videos are deeply appreciated, as is readily apparent from all the comments here. I've already upped my membership at ChessBase, where I first saw you, so that I can watch your videos there on demand. Next stop, Patreon. Thanks, Daniel!

Very nice game showing that king safety cannot always be broken down to a simple formula like "king in the center = bad"!

Ke2!, and Furman resigned because white has a forced mate in 420 moves

Idk with Mr. King has ever done this or considered this but it would be cool to see a journey of his chess games throughout his career. I know him as a commentator and from this channel but the player seems pretty cool too.

Kids, remember that in order to connect you major pieces you should put your king on d3.

I played the King's Gambit back in my wild years, too. However, my wildness was a little more sedate as I always played the 3. Nf3 move in this line. :)

King d3 is not a problem as long as the major pieces are connected :)

Nice sideline, seems a similar strategy to a Vienna Game (Steinitz). Looks like it would need lots of home preparation for White - and I'm a bit lazy to be honest. But a nice suggestion nonetheless Daniel. An opening for the pro's!

Hello Daniel Sir , I am a big fan of your work and watch your videos daily. I have a question , if Black played anything other than exf4 , would Ke2 still be logical . If so , how would the game progress ?

    • @MartinZanichelli
      @MartinZanichelli 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

No, Ke2 is just because of the check from the Queen.

In the wild days of my youth I used to throw caution to the winds and play 4.a3 against the Queen's Indian Defence. Salad days!

    The Lesser King's Gambit Bong Cloud might be 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 Be7 4.Nc3 Bh4+ 5.Ke2!
I had this as White a few times some 20 years ago, scoring two wins and only one loss (against Mark Hebden).

1:27 'gain time against the Queen'. Why not ...bg5 instead of moving the Queen, pinning the Knight (and exchanging it later if the King moves again, leaving White's King side wrecked and Black's Queen in a dominating position?)

FYI, Daniel, I'm unable to complete registration at Patreon: Here's what I submitted to their email support address: "I am trying to become a Patron and support Daniel King's Power Play Chess Patreon account, but after your website requests my country (USA) and state (CA), and I provide it, the page freezes and I can go no further. I've tried several times with the same result. Each time it directs me to the Country/State page, I provide the requested data, then the page is frozen and I'm unable to proceed with my registration and payment."

Thanks for mentioning it. Sounds a bit strange, haven't heard of anyone else with this problem. You could always make a monthly contribution via PayPal (see link in the description) and we would offer the same rewards (advance vids, extra vids, newsletter) according to how much you contribute.

    3. bc4 feels more natural than 3. nc3...it doesnt block the bishop with the king 🤔
engine disagrees with me tho 😂i guess the black queen can do some weird triangulation stuff and pin the knight/threaten the white g pawn/gain back "alledgedly traded in tempi" back then 😢
