The squeaking noise might be coming from the front bushings on the front lower control arms. I've changed mines and the car now glides on the road. Mine is 2009 and it is fully equiped with DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control), sport leather seats, sunroof, park assist... It's still an absolute pleasure to drive.
I almost bought 1 back in 2012 but ended up with the 1.4 Golf MK7 in 2013. Totally agree that the car has superb handling and performance for a 1.4. Never regretted owing it apart from the high price tag for what it is.

Love the golf. But unfortunately my family’s 2011 tsi broke down a few times OTR, end up sold the car. But it’s sooo polished and refine to drive. Drives better than the civic, slyphy, corolla and A class in my opinion. 😇
The DSG failure on my 2000 Touran exactly same as YS. VW Singapore did exactly the same as Malaysia. VW replaced the mechatronic twice & on 2nd time DMF and clutch replaced at their cost. Also gave an extended warranty. On a regular basis every 40k or 60k (can't recall) the gearbox oil should be changed using VW's gearbox oil. No issues at all with DSG until the car was sold in 2019. Loved the acceleration of the twin charged engine.
I got a mk6 too, best car I’ve owned so far. Got 142k KM on it now and bought it with 124k. It’s not going anywhere until I hit 200k for sure. Dsg transmission with some little upgrades here and there 🥰
I miss my mk6 golf...currently driving a B8 passat...in my opinion the golf handling is wayyy better & more compliance than my current B8. The golf just go thru any bump & road imperfection effortlessly & in corners like on rails....will get the mk8 in the future 😄
hahaha i totally agree with you uncle seems like many people drive like crazy for these past few days..cars zig zagging across the lanes and didnt give turn signal when changing lanes..need to be extra careful
I have a Seat Leon not sure you get them, but it has the same engine as the golf. The 1.4 has decent performance but at the same time good economy too!
Uncle very much lucky got a good unit with lesser trouble. I have 2 colleague who use ur car uncle,2011 and 2013. Both have same problems after warranty,mecha and speed sensors(a lot) . Uncle is just lucky. Otherwise need to fork out 10 percent of the car price yearly.
For mecha, once replaced with the updated parts(post2014), hardly will get mecha issue already. Had mine changed at 130k km milage, now at 100k km later, stil good. Driven hard most of the time and alot of long distance driving before 2020. As for the speed sensor, is small issue.
Yup, one of my favourites. Did you know the earliest Levin was on a 2 dr based on the 20 Series Corolla, and it was the TE? 1.6 2TG engine. Twin Cam, 8 Valve 120 hp.
Nowadays you can get after market boards, and many people know how to replace clutch. The clutch is a wear and tear item. See our video on DSG to get some tips on how to keep it working longer. My clutch is about 7 years old, and maybe 50k kilometres, still in perfect condition.
Hi Uncle. My golf mk6 is the same age as yours. Lately, some of the warning lights on the dash board have appeared on and off indicating some light and brake failures. Should I be concerned? if so, any recommendations as to where to rectify the problems? Thanks.

Yes, Seat, Skoda, VW, Audi share many engines and transmissions. We do not get Seat here, but I know of the car and brand.

Watch the video; I mentioned what I have changed in 11 years. Other than that it is just servicing, tyres, battery and brake pads.

So far no issues except for the one time the mechatronics failed, in the early days, maybe a year after purchase.

I like the BMW rwd handling, and the VW for the fwd handling. As for the R, it is awd handling.
