      These guys never do that lol Even if you're counting perfectly and playing perfect basic strategy you can still lose. You still need to get lucky to win, it just makes it more likely you'll win its no guarantee. Even if you're count and play is perfect you're betting strategy might not be. It's cool to learn for fun and try to win some money but it's not gonna be your full time job lol People make you think that so you buy their courses and watch their videos. You're not averaging $100 an hour over any long term period that's just fantasy.

    Two things that are worse than losing your entire bankroll is losing all your (taxable) winnings and running to the ATM to restock bankroll. I only bring a credit card to casino to check in to hotel. Other than that the only things I put in my wallet are cash, drivers license and social security card. As for protecting big winnings, a small timer lockbox, which can be stowed in vehicle or hotel room, is a worthwhile investment.

    Risk/Reward management is ALWAYS job #1 for me! I've written computer programs over the years that has shown me amazing edges to these and the answers for me depend on so many factors that are applicable. With Blackjack if I had a bankroll of $25,000 I would probably play minimum $250-$500 per hand on the optimal counts if I wasn't looking to be aggressive and then follow my absolute #1 RULE for any form of gambling is that when you WIN (increase bets if you are able to) and then on LOSSS (decrease your wager sizes). Betting x% makes this process easy.

    Too many people overbet their bankroll and lose everything in a short time. I have watched many people lose a lot of money like they just wanted to throw it away. It's like they want to impress others by the amount of their bets, or need to rid themselves of their money for some strange reason. ...a rather strange way to play, but they do it (and lose). You should only play for entertainment and expect to lose, unless you are a very proficient counter.
    If you can average a loss of one bet per hour and have a good time socializing, blackjack can cost no more than going to a movie.

    When I started counting at the 5 dollar tables, I would buy in for a thousand, but only bet 5 bucks most of the time. I think that looked weird. I was backed off at every casino in Southern AZ within a month. Now, I buy in just a couple hundred at a time if I'm playing reds.

    • @tmtmtlsml
      @tmtmtlsml 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's more likely that they thought you were either laundering money or trying to game the comps system. Employees are trained to notice unusual buy-ins relative to play. The classic example is someone who buys in for thousands, plays one or two hands, and then walks away. That's a major red flag for people trying to launder money.
      The other example is someone who sits at a slot machine and puts in thousands of dollars, but only plays the minimum bet and spins once every couple minutes. Since most rewards systems use an equation that factors in buy-ins, length of time playing, and average bet size, artificially over-inflating the first two numbers can more than make up for the diminished bet size to increase their rewards levels.

    Problem with this is, that means most people can't play blackjack on the Vegas strip. I mean, in off hours you can find $15 tables, so if you used the minimum he suggests of 50 bets you'd need $750 to play. But if you go at night and they raise it to $25 per hand which majority do, its $1250 at minimum you'd need to be able to play blackjack for one night. Seems like a lot of money for the average vacationer or traveller to the Strip. But I guess his rules are more "optimal" just might not be realistic unless you go downtown or maybe Reno or non Las Vegas Strip places.

    Question: So when the true count is high, doesn't the dealer have an equally as good of a chance as getting a good hand as you (i.e. 18, 19, 20, 21)? Also, if the count is high and you get a 12-16, there's a greater chance you'll bust if you have to hit. Doesn't seem like the greatest advantage to me.

    • @blurr1903

      IMO its a good idea to "wong out" when necessary. As a rule I never play if lower than a true -3. Sometimes I'll leave at -2 or even sooner especially if overall penetration of game is only marginal.
      It depends on penetration and how far into the shoe the negative count occurs. Sometimes when playing in a negative count, I'll find an excuse to " sit out a couple rounds" when there are other players.

      Good: Higher limit areas tend to have better house rules and less players, so you get more hands per hour and less variance since you see all the cards. Also the higher the units, the more you stand to win per hour.
      Bad: You have eyes on you the entire time. Hell, you'll be experiencing heat before you even play your first hand, so you probably won't be playing very long before being backed off.

      If you want it to, then yes! But the betting unit is actually the lowest you are willing to bet, it may be the table's minimum, but not everyone's has the same approach to it. Some may want a higher value to it, others may simply use the table's minimum, no problem with that.

      I was about to leave until I found that they had a promotion for slots where If you lost $25 they give it back, but in free play, so I tried that. Quickly lost $25 got the $25 in free play and Quickly lost that too. So I should have just skipped the slots, they are a complete waste

    • @jaredcarrick3468
      @jaredcarrick3468 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you are describing a “free double”/“free split” table. The tables where if you are dealt a 9, 10 or an 11 for a starting hand, you can signal to the dealer for a “free” double down, and the dealer will place a casino token next to your bet, representing a free double down bet on the house, so if you win, you win 2-1 on your bet without having to wager any additional money. The “free” split option works similarly as to where you can signal for the dealer to put a free split bet out there to split any 2 cards you want (they have to be the same value card though... like two jacks or two 7s, etc.) without wagering any additional money. To counter the increased player odds, the house has to make it so a dealer 22 is a table push. Tables like those are better if you are looking to gamble and take more chances, as you have potential opportunities to win more than even money for your winning hand without getting a blackjack or wagering any additional money, but I wouldn’t recommend trying to count cards and play perfect basic strategy on a table like that, because others are also looking to gamble more in spots they typically wouldn’t without the “free bet” option, so it can lead to a lot more variance than standard tables where the players are playing more consistently basic strategy.

      A unit is what you're willing to play for as your standard bet. It's often the minimum bet on the table, but you can also play 25$ as your standard bet on a 5$ table.
      So, if as a counter you use a 1-8 bet spread, it means that you can bet from 5-40$ or 100-800$ per hand. Playing the game is exactly the same, it's all up to you. In the first example, your unit would be 5$, while in the second example, it would be 100$.
