I don't play for long hours. I'm a hit and run guy. I play $200 min a hand and try to be done before the 3rd shoe. I employ a reverse progressive, but my increments are half bet sizes. So win the first, next hand is $300, then $400. After $400 I jump to $600 and after $600 I jump to $800 and stay for one additional hand. Then I finally get to $1,000 and max out at $1,400. Just not comfortable going any higher. I know my system is not +EV but it works for me and allows me to make a decent number or minimize a loss. I show up with $3,000 and if I lose I'm done.

Great video. I don't plan on counting cards. But, after the hands were dealt, I would pause the video and compare my decision/knowledge of basic strategy to the chart and see how I did.
The best way to do this would be to run it with the same cards and the same shoe. If the cards run out differently, it can make a big difference. If one method gets more splits, doubles, blackjacks, etc it will affect the outcome.
I'm definitely proud of myself. I was 100% accurate with the running count and my true count was great as well, although it was my first time trying to estimate how many decks are left.

4:50 In blackjack, knowing that next card 7 apparently has a slight positive EV; even though a starting hand of 18 is a slight negative EV. I calculate the expected EV to be 2.7%, but in practice I'd probably still play it at table minimum; 9TA are the only starting cards I'd put big money behind. In baccarat, I'd give it a better value; banker bet is a huge +EV on that one. It's funny, a 7 first card for player is -$10.30 but for banker its +$26.28!

@@Blackjackapprenticeship Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. What I can't figure is, you guys are professional card counters and still hit 12 against a dealer 3/4/5. Hi, I want to ask you a question😄 Why does basic strategy never allow to split a couple of 10s against a dealer's bad hand (3 through 5 let's say)? Wouldn't that make more money in the long run, since it's likely that the dealer busts and it has the potential to earn you double the money? 🤔
Because splitting 10’s will not make more money in the long run. Only when the count is very high does it become advantageous to split 10’s, and only when the dealer has certain cards.
Hey Colin, how different is basic strategy on an H17 game vs an S17 game? Also, what rules give the player the greatest possible advantage (and does that correspond with the bja basic strategy sheet)?
Im not colin but i would say .....always 2-3 for bjs.. stand soft 17.... surrender available..... no continuous automatic Schufflers!!!! I was watching at 1.5 speed trying to keep track of the count. I was off by 1. Is that good enough? Also one card got dealt off the screen on the far left and I could not see it 10:26. You can split any two ten value cards? Jacks and Kings?
hey I noticed the basic strategy chart on the black jack apprenticeship site is different than others, and I also noticed that a lot of basic strategy charts vary from each other? is there multiple correct basic strategy charts you can follow?
Basic strategy chart depends on what the rules of the casino are, such as if the dealer hits on a soft 17 or not. Blackjack apprenticeship site shows a hybrid chart that works decently for most rules, but ideally you should use a chart specifically designed for the rules of your casino.
NEWB QUESTION ALERT! i’ve been practicing a lot at home and recently had an opportunity to go to a casino and check out the blackjack tables, i knew i would most likely lose money cuz i just wanted to see if i could keep the count and check out shuffling or penetration etc, i noticed the discard tray was super tall and i have to believe it was an 8 deck tray, but during the shuffling process, the dealer used the discard tray to line up all the cards perfectly even before putting them in the shoe, when all the decks were in the discard tray, there was about a two deck gap.. which is more likely? a casino to be using 8 deck discard trays but only 6 decks in a shoe or my estimations on either discard tray size or number of decks to be off!? any help is appreciated, thank you much!
To be absolutely sure, do a count where you count every single card +1. If the cut was about 2 decks deep, then if your total count at the end is about 312 (6 decks = 52 * 6 = 312 cards) you have 8 decks total for the shoe.

I don´t really understand the reverse martingale. Like what if there would be no limits? You would just double it until you loose and be at the beginig??
I'd like to see you run the same deck same order twice. First time 3 players playing well and by the book. Second time where 1 person some times splits 10s hits 16 against dealer 5 type player. And see what all 3 players chips do between the 2 shoes.
Hello. I'd love to join BJA program but in my country, the casinos I have seen so far are all using CSMs. Do you have like a closed group information on what casinos in Southeast Asia are using non-csm? Countries like Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand? Thank you
Question about Black Jack. In the casino near me they deal the cards in a 'strange' way. The dealer deals the first cards to the players face up, then proceeds to deal the card to the dealer also face up (first discrepancy), then deals the second card face up to the players and that's it. He does not deal himself (the banker) the other card face down. So the round proceeds and only when the last player makes his move, the dealer proceeds to deal himself the second face-up card, and then the usual, stands at all 17. My question is whether the dealer has an advantage (I guess so) and how much is it in percentage. In particular, when the dealer has an ace I think he is at a great disadvantage.
This is how it's traditionally dealt in Europe. I don't know how it affects edge, but it definitely means you'll get fewer hands from a shoe, because you have all the wasted cards on dealer BJ that wouldn't happen in an American dealt game
This way gives an edge to the dealer, because the player is forced to make decisions about doubling and splitting before the dealer checks for blackjack, thus losing more money if dealer has blackjack.
Colin I love the vids man ❤. But how can I count along with you guys whenever the guy splits tens into the dis-card tray 😂. I’m taking wild guess at this point lol.
At blackjack, the martingale is better than the reverse martingale. That’s because when you lose, chances are a small card beat you. So at least that small card can’t come up anymore until the shuffle. When you win, charge a big card helped you win. And that big card can’t come up again until the shuffle. The martingale should do better than the reverse.
I reverse martingale bet and if I double I’ll keep the winnings and start over I don’t keep doubling. I did this one night and made $590 off $90 buy in with $25-$75 bets in the matter of 10 minutes and went home lol
A better way of testing the methods against eachother is to have them do the different betting strategies but with only one hand. Thats right, three different bets on just one hand so they have the same cards and the one that has the most money at the end truly was better betting strategy than the others.
what I did was make my own 6 deck shoe, shuffled thoroughly at home and cut exactly like vegas. Then before I did anything I wrote down the entire order of the shoe all the way to the cut card, like A4T879QJ4, etc. Then I played one on one vs dealer using one system. Then because I wrote down the order of the shoe, I was able to reconstruct it and use the exact same card order with a different strategy. I did this for 20 different shoes and got interesting results.
In your opinion can you win without counting cards and just using basic strategy? not thounds but double your money!? also, if dealers use the same deck of cards until it's out is it a waste of time to keep track of high cards if your not great at card counting?
Anything can happen short-term, but in the long run it's impossible to win using just basic strategy. If you aren't great at card counting, consider using a simpler system such as the Ace/Five count. You won't win, but you'll lose less money so your casino trips will be cheaper, and perhaps gain enough confidence to try better systems that actually win later.
@@noseboop4354 thanks for the Info! It will more than likely be short term, going to Vegas in a month! So I figured I'd give blackjack a shot and see how I faired in hopes of not losing all my money and walking out ahead atleast
@@suttonjohnson3847 Good luck, if it's just one trip you could definitely win big even with just basic strategy. Be careful of sidebets, the vast majority of them are sucker bets.
I live almost literally next door to a place that runs blackjack. No pit boss or anything. The min bet is $3 and the max is $25. What is the theoretical max I could make per hour?
If you have hard 13 vs a dealer six you want to stand as you hope they have a 10 and bust. Also depends on the TC if I have a 2/3 against 2-6 and the TC is -2 or more I'll hit TC of 0 or 1+ I'll stand.
Martingale is idiotic. Betting a lot to gain a little is not a sound stategy. Small "wins" in a session until the inevitable streak bankrupts you. You hear "Martingale" you run.
Cards with holes are just ex-casino cards. When they "decommission" them they punch them so they can never find their way back into a casino game illegally.
The length of time it takes for a human to hand shuffle 6 or 8 decks is the reason that casino doesn't shuffle after every hand. Hand shuffling after every hand would nearly kill any advantage an advantage player has, but would kill the casino's own revenue. However, what casinos have moved to are Continuous Shuffling Machines--where the dealer plays one to three rounds, then shoves the cards into a machine that continually shuffles the shoe. Under such circumstances, it's rare that the true count would ever eclipse +1, so it does severely mitigate counting.
It would be a soft 12. However, with any dealer card up, splitting the aces maximizes EV for that hand. (The only deviation I can recall is that at a True -3 or below, A-A is a Hit against a dealer A)
if you're counting cards on at an 8-deck shoe table and they put the card cutter thing at the end of the shoe with about 1 deck remaining, do you divide by 7 to get the true count? or do you still divide by 8?
You still divide by 8. To wrap your mind around why, just think of an extreme situation where you are playing a 100 deck game and 99 decks are cut out of play. All those 100 decks of cards have been shuffled together and you can't know how many low and high cards made it into the 1 playable deck. Therefore, just because 99 decks have been cut out, you can't treat it like a single deck game where you don't have to divide by anything to get the true count because even if a bunch of low cards get dealt out while you're playing, there can still be tons more left in the deck so you will never be in a situation where you'll want to bet high.
I enjoyed watching y’all play a lot, especially with the commentary. Please consider doing this more!

@@sicsemperevan It's the standard ENHC procedure, just find out. It seems that ENHC increases the casino’s advantage by at least 0.11 per cent.
This way gives an edge to the dealer, because the player is forced to make decisions about doubling and splitting before the dealer checks for blackjack, thus losing more money if dealer has blackjack.
What was that deviation for surrendering 88v10? From trying to calculate by myself which is never a good idea I'm getting surrender 88v10 at true 2+?
Colin I love the vids man ❤. But how can I count along with you guys whenever the guy splits tens into the dis-card tray 😂. I’m taking wild guess at this point lol.
At blackjack, the martingale is better than the reverse martingale. That’s because when you lose, chances are a small card beat you. So at least that small card can’t come up anymore until the shuffle. When you win, charge a big card helped you win. And that big card can’t come up again until the shuffle. The martingale should do better than the reverse.
7:40 why different plays with two players hawing 12 vs deals 2?
Deviation only used by player to the left?
I reverse martingale bet and if I double I’ll keep the winnings and start over I don’t keep doubling. I did this one night and made $590 off $90 buy in with $25-$75 bets in the matter of 10 minutes and went home lol
All cruise ship casinos in goa, India are using CSM in blackjack
A better way of testing the methods against eachother is to have them do the different betting strategies but with only one hand. Thats right, three different bets on just one hand so they have the same cards and the one that has the most money at the end truly was better betting strategy than the others.
This
what I did was make my own 6 deck shoe, shuffled thoroughly at home and cut exactly like vegas.
Anyone else watching out for 'Greg Specials'? 😃
If anyone was curious there were 49 cards in the discard trey and 8 on the table so 57 total cards removed
3:45 Can someone explain why he didn't split?
Higher chance of the dealer with a 10 to hit 20 and if the player was to split he would have a higher chance of an 18
In your opinion can you win without counting cards and just using basic strategy? not thounds but double your money!? also, if dealers use the same deck of cards until it's out is it a waste of time to keep track of high cards if your not great at card counting?
Be careful of sidebets, the vast majority of them are sucker bets.
you have a theoretical disadvantage doing anything other than card counting. so in the long run you will lose.
11:37 Watch the most infuriating thing you've ever seen
I live almost literally next door to a place that runs blackjack. No pit boss or anything. The min bet is $3 and the max is $25. What is the theoretical max I could make per hour?
as someone who doesnt play anymore because ive been banned, i enjoyed watching this a lot
What about progressive betting using perfect basic strategy
Wanted to check as my country casino is using CSM at the blackjack tables.. does card counting still works?
No, card counting doesn't work on CSM.
In the video they talk about some advanced deviations. Does anyone has a chart they can share with me? I want to learn more deviations :)
You can google “blackjack deviations”. I learned mine with the KO system and it’s easy to remember since all but 1 happen at the same running count
You can split king jack?
Back with the vest!! Looking good Colin. I can afford to tip you $0.50 is that cool?
With my hard 13 and dealer's 6 why stand and not hit?
Any resource where the reasoning of such cases is explained.
If you have hard 13 vs a dealer six you want to stand as you hope they have a 10 and bust. Also depends on the TC if I have a 2/3 against 2-6 and the TC is -2 or more I'll hit TC of 0 or 1+ I'll stand.
More of this please
please make this one every month!
Martingale is idiotic. Betting a lot to gain a little is not a sound stategy. Small "wins" in a session until the inevitable streak bankrupts you. You hear "Martingale" you run.
Wait, why did Louden Often surrender the 88 on TC1 instead of split? I thought you were supposed to always split 88?
Order of operations say to surrender before split
Surrender at a true 1 8,8 v 10
@@rogerwalker3748 - i don’t think the app will let you do that without complaining and breaking whatever streak you had going.
against a ten surrendering is the higher expectation play
Since when is splitting 10's of a different rank allowed such as J-K?
@@infjason8470 Maybe its so rare that I've just never noticed it before!
You should recreate the video with the same shoe and methods but switch their spots at the table and see how it affects the outcomes
The seat doesn't impact the outcome so it would have no impact in the long run. We discuss it more here: th-cam.com/video/IpfyDa9hx5Y/w-d-xo.html
@10:24 up & leave ?
I got 55 card lounden. That’s just sick 😂
wish you would show the running count with every card.
First time watching your videos, why do the cards have holes punched in them?
Cards with holes are just ex-casino cards. When they "decommission" them they punch them so they can never find their way back into a casino game illegally.
whats stopping the casino from shuffling the cards every hand? would card counting go abosulte?
The length of time it takes for a human to hand shuffle 6 or 8 decks is the reason that casino doesn't shuffle after every hand. Hand shuffling after every hand would nearly kill any advantage an advantage player has, but would kill the casino's own revenue. However, what casinos have moved to are Continuous Shuffling Machines--where the dealer plays one to three rounds, then shoves the cards into a machine that continually shuffles the shoe. Under such circumstances, it's rare that the true count would ever eclipse +1, so it does severely mitigate counting.
If I have 2aces can I assume one as 1 and other 11? Just a question
I would split if I'm dealt 2aces
@@royjonzejr word. thanks
@royjonzejr I love that explanation, it makes sense that way. Thank you!
Yeah just ignore the cut card when figuring tc.
