Uncle Jeff says, “Practice, kids!” Great lesson. Thinking in shapes is a great way to approach a solo. Then later, do the work of analyzing the notes. Learn the rules then break the rules.
Just when you think you've got a good handle on something like the pentatonic minor scale, Jeff manages to open up a whole new sound!! Great work Mr. McErlain!!
Thanks Jeff, I am currently trying to expand my lead playing outside of just "noodling" through the 5 Pentatonic shapes and work at being more melodic, this was very helpful.
Hoootcha, for years I've practiced all five pent shapes up & down using the single note per string and thought it sounded cool but couldn't figure out a way to apply it. Thank you for opening the door, Jeff!!
Thanks Jeff, very usefull.Always so great lesson on your chanel. And thanks again to advice me the supreme pedal and to look with Robben's Ford dojo the last year. I learn so much since i subscribe with Robben 's Lesson too. Olivier from France.
1 slide up to it 2 slide down to it 3 bend up to it 4 releas bend down to it 5 heavy vibrato 6 run up to scale to it 7 run down the scale to it 8 trill on it 9 heavy attack 10 light attack Add to my list???
It’s a Two Rock Classic Reverb Signature. It’s an expensive amp but if you have a nice clean amp like a Fender deluxe or Princeton you can get there with a touch overdrive from a pedal. I hope that helps!
Tim Pierce applied this Arpeggio approach from you on his live stream after watching this video, Jeff. I think you were there online at the time. 😁 Pretty cool, eh? 😉
Dozens of guitarists on TH-cam offering a pentatonic angle. None get near Jeff McErlain. Thanks, great lesson.
Thank you, I really appreciate it and you are most welcome.
This is absolute gold my word. Just this has changed everything immediately for me.
I am truly happy I hear this!!! Enjoy!

Great ideas, Jeff! Everyone talks about breaking out of the pentatonic scale, but maybe we should fully explore it and get the most out of it first...
Amen!

If all tones of an Amin Pentatonic work, then all combinations, licks, riffs, motifs derived from it will work too.
Cool ❤

Yup!
👏🏾👏🏾
the pentatonic is an alphabet.
the blues are words.
Pick ONE note and try to find 10 ways to play it.
1 slide up to it
2 slide down to it
3 bend up to it
4 releas bend down to it
5 heavy vibrato
6 run up to scale to it
7 run down the scale to it
8 trill on it
9 heavy attack
10 light attack
Add to my list???
Nice video, just wondering if you can share which amp you are using and the setting on that, i could not dial tones like that.....

Killer ...
