I saw the kickstarter, but at $113 (with shipping cost) to get access to the stretch goals it was a little high for what I usually pay for games. They did give a ton of stuff in the stretch goals so I can understand that part. Now I'm sad I didn't support it after I keep hearing so many positive comments.
I backed this, and am looking forward to getting it! One thing you didn't mention, which was a major consideration for me in spending this much money on a game, was the representation of women. Each of the heroes is depicted in both male and female variants (on Kickstarter we got minis for both), and the female characters are wearing actual clothes. Not bikinis. (I have nothing against bikinis, I just really don't think they're good dungeon exploring wear). So, yay to the Myth guys for treating the female characters like people!
Tom, with all good intentions i think you should either take this review down or make a follow up video. Reasons: -The retail version has a horrible rulebook and you guys say it's well written(even if it has now reached version 2.0,it was not the case then) -It has several unfinished quest chains and cards that refer to things that are not even in the box -It simply does not have enough minis for the quests and modes that are featured in the game. Result:A very inadequate and pretty expensive game that lures you into buying extra stuff just to complete the included quests. It's like you played an entirely different game.Why didn't i hear any of that in your review?
The fact that the game doesnt include everything in the box needed to play is a grievous sin when it comes to board gaming. An incomplete game that is intended to force you to buy expansions to complete what should of been complete right out of the box is a big time problem and it is sad that the Dice Tower review doesn't mention any of these issues as they received a kickstarter copy and were taught the rules rather than be forced to learn them by reading the terribly formatted and worded rulebook. Myth is one of the worst games out of the box Ive ever seen. Myth is a 2 out of 10 because it's incomplete.
It's too bad too because this game features some interesting mechanics but I could never recommend this to someone in even the slightest. Just stick to Descent or maybe check out the recently released Dungeon Saga for all of your dungeon crawling needs.

The miniatures are that good because the company that made this game is originally a miniatures game company. mercsminis.com. And probably explains why the rules appear heavy as you would find in a miniatures game.

This game sounds really cool. Is it true though that 2 of the 8 character classes (the Trickster and the Spriggan) are only available to Kickstarter backers? If so then that's... a bit much. I am all for rewarding backers of at-risk projects, but this seems like it shoots wayyyyy past the line. You want to reward backers without making other consumers feel like they're missing 25% of the game. Please by all means correct me if what I read about those Kickstarter-only classes is wrong, incidentally!
The Trickster is KS exclusive. The Spriggan is too, but they are going to release a Druid which is basically the same exact class. So the only difference should be the miniature.

To extend on what's been said, thanks to gameplay-continuity considerations, some things are likely to be available through future kickstarter campaigns too. The biggest thing for the backers is that we're getting 3 times as much stuff straight off, rather than paying in gold bars later.

I would pay 100 bucks for what came in the kickstarter package but I see no reason to drop several hundreds of dollars to obtain the same game sans many kickstarter exclusives. My only complaint about the game is that there's a lot of text on cards and (unforgivably) in the rulebook that's typeset in Flyspeck 3, and well nigh unreadable. Other than that, it's become a favourite.
Comes down to your specific desires, I'd imagine, and the specifics of your gaming group. If you have sci-fi junkies in your group, then Level 7:OP is a no-brainer. If your group is full of fantasy junkies, then Myth is the obvious answer. As we said, though, there is a huge and necessary teamwork aspect to Myth that other similar games lack. This aspect differentiates it from the pack of similar games. It's also free-form. So, if you like the scenario-based feeling of Descent, where it's all laid out for you what needs to be accomplished with each scenario, then maybe Omega Protocol is the one. You won't be disappointed with either, though.
This looks like a more complex fantasy ripoff of Zombicide. Its a cooperative, scenario based, dice driven miniature fighting game. It has team oriented gameplay with special character abilities, thread levels and small loot cards. It has enemy ai and spawn points. I didn't really get what sets it apart from other games.
It is far from being a rip-off of Zombicide. Don't let similarities fuel prejudice. Major differentiating factors: Each character is more of a class hybrid with a deck of cards that grant abilities, attacks, etc. to the character and/or party. The scenarios are more free-form. You can play off of the individual quest cards, you can play stories, which are more structured scenarios, or you can play a sort of wave-based survival mode. Source: I'm a backer and I got to play a couple games of it at Gen Con. Total blast.

Looks really good. I like a good dungeon crawl, and co-ops.
My concerns are with the 'stuff to be added'. Money grab. Power creep.
This game only just hit the shelf in my stores in UK. The reviews are still very spilt of love and hate it. Still dont know what to think.
