You’re one of the few people on TH-cam who gave the z5 proper use and representation online. I’m not sure why it is so overlooked but I appreciate your perspective on Nikon cameras.
It's mainly down to a poor reputation on the AF. I think it is overblown, but I also know from using the Z bodies that there are quirks with the autofocus, it's not nearly as responsive at times, and other times it can lock onto the background. Not always, but enough to be annoying.
Have you considered getting a baseplate or an L-bracket? it adds that extra pinky support and makes the camera that bit heavier. An added benefit for me is that it protects the bottom from wearing out carabiners from scratching it.
Now wait a minute. The Z8 has better autofocus and higher framerate than any Nikon Dslr ever made, all the way up to the D6 and that is no secret because it is basically a Z9. It is nikons best camera for sports and wildlife and other action photos together with the Z9 which has a slight edge, due to larger battery, two cf express cards. For landscape you can use Z7 for slightly better dynamic range.
Took the Z8 out to town today just to play and my God. Life at weddings is going to be so much easier 😄. Instant focus that just sticks with people or easily switch to someone else. I am really impressed.
I did the video in the day or so after they took my money - it then became clear there was a "cock up" by another company who handle the customs documents that was out ot their control - not totally happy about the whole thing and can't recommend buying anything directly from Nikon (use a dealer!) but felt the video was a step too far - especially now I have my Z8 and thrilled with it. A beaurtiful machin 🙂
